Erie collar bomb
Posted:

The real bomb collar could have been removed but he panicked.
This isn't what I've read. According to the articles that I've seen, the police, with all of their resources, couldn't take the collar off, and were forced to eventually disarticulate his head to remove it.
Basically, he was decapitated to get it off.
I don't see anyone with enough intelligence to pull this crime off being stupid enough to allow that collar to be put on him.

Nevada Couple Blames Internet for Neglect

This is exactly why some people shouldn't breed. But I digress. I should refrain from judging people.
I have a 3-month old granddaughter, who, at her last pediatrician's appointment, weighed the same amount as this couple's 11-month-old child. I've also seen that woman's m-y-s-p-a-c-e page, which includes a frighteningly ironic essay called, "What Is Wrong With Our Children?"
I have
no
problem judging them.

Do you not think that Saudi Arabia has these specialists as well? Id caution anyone jumping to conclusions so quickly.
Agreed. It's offensive that Arab/Muslim countries are considered backward and illiterate, merely because we often do not agree with them.
Perhaps it's because I live in Ohio, but I'm not really seeing the point of this thread; she killed a baby, she got the death penalty. What, exactly, was the question?

Height/Size Contridiction?
Posted:

What really cracks me up, is the amount of over weight , child bearing women on here that are looking for "hotties" when they aren't exactly a prize themselves. What a world! hahaha!
What is it, exactly, that gave you the impression that this was specific to women? Perhaps the fact that you don't peruse men's profiles?
Do you have any idea how many older, balding, beer-bellied men won't even allow mail from women within 10 years of their own age?

Here, it is easier to cut and paste the text than to wonder and guess......
Yes, but, a) you don't get the pictures that prove that it's actually him, and b) there are rules about posting another's username. I don't know that those rules would apply once it's been on national television (or after they've been deleted), but I wouldn't have wanted to be the one to take that chance.

What does this mean???
That there's a way to see his profile still?
Yes. Google's servers crawl the web, essentially "taking pictures" of webpages. Those pages are kept in a cache, until they're re-cached (which can sometimes take months); this is why, when you google something, you'll generally get a "cached" option with each result. It doesn't mean that that page
still
looks like that (for example, his POF page is now gone), but that it looked like that when Google last cached it.

I personally prefer nothing too large but the average penis size is 5.2 ". That, for most women, is NOT satisfying. Well actually I'd say most women.
It offends me that you presume to speak for "most" women. And, for the record, I'd like to be excluded from your generalization.

what does he say he is looking for on POF?
"Hang Out". What I think is interesting is not just that his main profile pic was of himself wearing a towel, but his answer to "Do you want children?" was "
Does not want children
".
(Google, btw, still has his profile page cached; one would think they would make some effort to remove that.)

Cell Phones On a Date,Do You Really Need It?
Posted:

but please, your superior little attitude is really a bit over the top.
And your snottiness is becoming a bit tedious, but do you see me being rude?
I wasn't speaking of merely talking to one's children. In most cases, women schedule the doctor's appointments, dentist appointments, extracurricular activities, sleepovers, teacher conferences, service calls from plumbers, electricians, and cable repairmen while somehow finding time to work full-time, shop for groceries, pick up and drop off dry cleaning and other assorted errands, and working out a system to get those children shuttled from one place to another. And you begrudge them the chance to do some of that on their cell phones??
And, God forbid that a woman should attempt to take a couple of hours to have dinner and an actual conversation with another adult with her cell phone nearby.

10 to 1 women on the phone over men. Go count.
Could this possibly be because, 10 to 1, it's the
women
who have to attend to the kids, take care of the home, run the necessary errands, and work full-time while doing it?
Women are the nurturers and caretakers, it stands to reason that their time would be more in demand than men. Or maybe it's just that we actually give a damn that we're needed.

Was I too passionate for a first date?
Posted:

I'd say, from what you've said, that she was attracted to you and either she wasn't keen on getting too full on in public or she was holding back because that's what she's "supposed" to do !!!!
What is wrong with you?? Women don't "hold back" because they're "supposed" to, they do it because they
want
to. It's dangerous to perpetuate the myth that women just need a strong man to take control and bring out their animal lusts. No means no.
You'll be waiting forever if you wait for women to initiate anything around here !!!
If you read through these forums, you'll see that many women have no problem with being physical on the first date, or even sleeping with someone they've just met; you'll also see that many of us are stunned by that, but
it's their choice
, the operative word being "choice". If a woman doesn't initiate, it's because she chooses not to, not because she's waiting for a man to paw her in a public place.
Why do you guys feel you have to obey their rules and then make threads complaining about them having so many rules ??
Men feel they have to obey the rules because to do otherwise is risking a chargeable offense. There is a reason they're called "rules" and not "suggestions". It's idiotic to encourage them to ignore the rules under the fallacy that it's what women secretly want.
It's difficult enough to be a dating woman, let alone a woman dating online. Cut the women-really-want-it crap, it only makes things harder for the rest of us.

I like to be towered over...I think it has more to do with a sense of feeling safe and protected.
I understand this, logically; father-figure issues, and all of that. But it doesn't really make
sense
to me. Logic would dictate that a taller man is just as likely to be mean or bullying as a shorter one, and able to do much more serious physical injury if so inclined.
I get a sense of safety and protection from someone who makes me feel valued and respected, and who lets me know that he cares about me unconditionally. Height has nothing to do with that.

Yes, it is a bit picky.
Don't let the bashers get to you. It's no more "picky" than those people who have preferences regarding height, weight, hair color, or breast size. It's all about our personal comfort levels.
I do agree with a statement made earlier, though; your profile is rather lengthy, and perhaps if you moved your preference for literacy toward the top of your About Me section, it might be read more easily.

I know this isn't what you want to hear, but, well, that's never stopped me before, so here it is:
Do you know what dysgraphia is? Think, "opposite of dyslexia". The most amazing, most intelligent man I've ever had the privelege of having in my life was dysgraphic; it was a long-distance relationship, so e-mail and IM were a major part of it, and for 6 years every sentence he typed had to be decoded. But still, he was one of the smartest people I have ever met, and we had conversations that made me feel ignorant.
Personally, I don't judge people by their spelling, grammatical errors, or lack of typing skills anymore.
That text message lingo has
got
to go, though. That's just plain laziness.

i'm curious as to the motives of women who recieve breast implants.
I predict that you're going to receive a ton of posts to the effect of, "We don't do it for anyone else, we do it for ourselves."
That's a bunch of bull. They do it to be attractive to men, they do it to feel superior to other women, and they do it to bolster that tiny shred of self-esteem that can't be based on the person that they truly are.
Unless it's for reconstructive purposes, they do it for everyone
but
themselves.

Paris Hilton out after only 3 days...??

why the **** should we care about Paris Hilton???
I don't give a rat's ass about Paris Hilton, what she's wearing, who she's dating, or where she chooses to party on a given night. But, in light of the fact that this is only the latest in a long line of allegations that that sheriff gives preferential treatment to the rich and famous, I think it's relevent. There's a pattern of behavior there that the public deserves to be aware of, and if it takes hours of Paris drama to show them that, then so be it.

French kiss AND touching her ass on a FIRST date??? Are you crazy? I don't understand why she didn't slap the hell out of you and walk out.
^ What she said. I recently met a gentleman from POF, spent about an hour with him in a public place (a craft store; yeah, he gets points for that), during which he gave me a hug. It was very sweet, it didn't linger uncomfortably long, and it didn't go any further than that. It seemed to be the appropriate amount of affection for someone that I've known for a while, but had only just met in person.

Constantly having a drink or beer on the top of my head is my biggest complaint. And talking to a belly-button isn't my idea of an intelligent exchange. Nice to see there are "others" out there.
I spent 3 years with a boyfriend that was 6' 3"; he used to giggle every time I had to use a stepstool to reach something (instead of reaching the upper cabinets
for
me), and say things like, "Awww, what cute wittle Barbie-shoes!", or "How do you walk on such teeny, tiny feet?"
You'd think someone who heard enough of, "How's the view from up there?" would have a little more consideration of others' size.

Someone on MSNBC said that she was late because the sherriff's office
refused
to go pick her up when the judge ordered them to. If that's the case I'm not really sure they could fine her for it.
Does anyone know whether that sherriff is appointed or elected?? Either way, he really needs to be replaced.

thrift stores aren't shopping, that would be more like wading through the city dump.... I like that even less than shopping.
Then you're not visiting the right thrift stores. Last year, I paid $3.99 for a collectible doll that an online website sells for $269.00. My favorite thrift store is the best place to find original Cabbage Patch dolls (the cloth ones, with the stamp on the butt), usually for about $2.99.
Whats wrong with online shopping? they have bargains there and you never have to go to a store either.
I love online shopping, I can spend hours at Ebay or Half.com. But I can't try on clothes there, can I?

I'm totally with you on this point. So to be perfectly aligned with your philosophy, I'm not going to contribute anymore on this pathetic subject, but rather focus on some "real" news.
As I said before, I think this huge disparity in our legal system could be considered "real" news, for many reasons; not the least of which is that this is happening at a time when the feds are considering taking control of the California prison system. Which, at this point, is sounding like a much better idea.
We scorn their behavior and reticule them for their public actions while we read US weekly, the Enquirer and other tabloids.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's far more pervasive than that. I don't read any of those publications, or watch E! or its ilk. I can get everything I want to know, and much that I don't, from the hours and hours of coverage on CNN, Headline News, and MSNBC.
It's pathetic that I can't keep a news channel on in the background without learning the latest hijinks of celebrity bimbos.
Anyone who says they'd serve their time willingly is a liar.
Interesting. Paris herself said that she would serve her time willingly. I mean, after the whining, blame-placing, and futile appeal.

On the upside, either way it goes, she's pretty much hammered the last nail into her coffin of fame. I think this is extremely well-said. I don't list shopping as a hobby, but I have referenced my love of thrift stores on my profile. I rarely buy anything retail (unless it's unhygienic to buy it secondhand), and for me, spending a weekend day scouring the thrift stores, being able to come home with a full wardrobe for what I would have paid for a single shirt at the mall, or with some amazing find that I got dirt cheap,
that's
a hobby.

someone once said the way you keep your house is how you feel about yourself...true that
I have an aunt, an incredible human being (the consensus of everyone that has ever met her), who several years ago was hit by a drunk driver without no insurance. Her back was seriously injured, and she spent
years
in severe pain, barely able to move. She was no longer able to work and incurred massive medical bills, so their financial situation deteriorated. They no longer had as many nice things, and with 3 kids and a working husband bringing in the sole income their house became quite the pigsty.
And yet, she was still the same good, decent person that everyone that knew her loved. It would have been extremely unfair for her to be judged on the condition of her house without having all of that background information.

Now, no, the car itself does not matter. All those events that led up to him not having it does matter. And that's what I am trying to say. People with legitimate emergencies and situations have a reason. People who just don't have the drive to work their way up from the bottom do not.
But the two situations you've described are vastly different. In the case of your neighbor, you know the history, you have all the information you need to judge that his life is exactly what
he
made it, through his bad decisions and stupid choices.
You don't know those things about the woman you're judging. What if she was injured at work, or diagnosed with a chronic condition, and has a lot of time to pass while waiting for her Worker's Comp or SSI to come through? Perhaps she
is
just a waste of flesh, sitting around vegging and not contributing in any productive way. But shouldn't you, in all fairness, have more information before you make that assumption?

Maybe then we could be rid of this blonde bimbo and her trials and tribulations.
We're going about it the wrong way. If we truly want this woman off of our magazine covers and TV screens, we should really be voicing our outrage at those media outlets that continue to foist her on us.
I think it's fair to cover her current jail fiasco, because it's a pertinent miscarriage of justice; but if everyone decided to boycott the weekly magazines, tabloids, and the E! channel, she would eventually go away.

mystlw,
I think I might have worded that wrong. I am 43 years old and lived with a girl while in the military. I was deployed quite often and flew a lot at night, well one night I came home early and cought my girlfriend in bed with one of my friends and this time my wife has ran back to Florida twice.
I wasn't the one who posted what you quoted (I made the Texas Chainsaw reference, though), but I get what you mean.
I meant no offense; I truly do think it that it's the rare man that can take his wife's needs into consideration after a marriage ends badly. But you have to bear in mind that many women have been deeply hurt by men in past relationships, and some will be too skittish about dating a man who's only "separated". It's not your fault, it just
is
.
My mother has been separated from my stepfather for about a decade now. She hasn't filed for a divorce because he's still on her employee insurance, and needs a hip operation that he keeps dodging, and otherwise couldn't afford. She's finally found a boyfriend that understands that, but still, he's not comfortable with the fact that she's still legally married.

I admit, I don't own a car (the short version: I lent it to a brother, and never got it back), nor do I have a cell phone. But those waffles are the only thing in the world that's better than sex.

That's it! I'm moving to Ohio. A snowcone machine! Only thing better would be a soft-serve ice cream machine like the one at DairyQueen. That would probably cause me to propose!
What?? I own a freaking
cotton candy-machine
, and it's the snocone maker that impresses you?? Geeze, you're easy.

Feel free to do this and send me the ambulance bill with u have half of a lip stuck to the strip.. haha
Forgive me for asking, but, since you do that professionally, don't you lose money if women choose to do it at home, more cheaply and privately??

As others have pointed out, there are many legit reasons for a person to have accumulated very little.
Agreed. For some people, it's just not a priority.
There's a gentleman here that I've been getting to know, who despises "gadgets". Anything that he acquires, but doesn't use, he gets rid of. I, on the other hand, absolutely love them. Not huge, expensive, showy things, but things that I consider "cool"; in my kitchen, you'll find a breadmaker, snocone machine, a cotton candy-maker, and several pasta gadgets, jell-o molds, and cookie cutters. Those things bring me more enjoyment than an expensive car or huge-screen TV.
That's
a priority to me; to have my house smell like fresh-baked bread, or make a snocone on a hot Summer day.
Do I judge people badly if they don't have those things? Of course not.

Cell Phones On a Date,Do You Really Need It?
Posted:

The nurses in my ob-gyn's office related the story of a woman who was on the cell phone while her feet were in the stirrups!!
I know this is slightly off-topic, but I would
love
to have the distraction of a cell phone conversation while at the ob-gyn's office. That place makes me nervous enough, as it does for many women, and I don't see anything wrong with being allowed to take one's mind off of it.

Height/Size Contridiction?

A preference is not always a requirement for some people.
I have to wonder how static the height preference is, though. There's a gentleman on this site whose profile states that he is 5' 8", who has seen a lot of rejection for that. His profile is somewhat vague where his profession is concerned, but I'm betting that if he made it known that he's a
doctor
, at least half of those women who have rejected him would find that their "preference" is negotiable.

Again, though possessions don't really mean anything, but doesn't the scenario I just described paint a picture of what a person like this is all about?
Do you remember that old commercial for some sort of stereo system (can't remember the brand, sorry), where the guy with the really long hair walks into an apartment with only a chair and the stereo? Like that commercial, I think what you describe may be merely indicative of what that person considers to be a priority.
Perhaps that woman recently escaped an abusive marriage, and has started over from nothing. Maybe her home burned down, or she's a Katrina victim, with no insurance to rebuild. Perhaps that computer is allowing her to take online classes, to enable her to have a better job.
Then again, maybe she's a crackhead whose junkie boyfriend stole that computer. But you know what they say about assumptions, don't you?

Circumsized or not circumsized
Posted:

But every parent I've talked to about circumcision said they did it because that's just what everyone does. I would like for parents to consider their reasons for having this procedure done and base it on knowledge, not on the principle that that's just what we do.
I had my sons circumcized when they were born, because I had read, in several different places, that women in long-term marriages to uncircumcized men were more likely to develop cervical cancer, and that suggested potential health effects for my sons. When they were older, I discovered that
that
particular study was somewhat flawed, but my reasoning at the time was no less valid, given the information that I had. I consider the several recent studies to be no less valid than the information that I had then, until something disproves them.

Ha its true people have torn off lips, so feel free to try that at home recipe...
I find it difficult to believe that myriad companies would be allowed to sell waxing/sugaring products if removing hair at home were such a hazardous activity.
