you're tougher than you think. you haven't hit the highest floor on the elevator yet imo. it's great that you have that capacity to love... very, very cool. you didn't know the capacity until the loss was there of not having it reciprocated. but i think, one step up from what you had, is the fun part where it IS reciprocated. i can't wait for that day. and i think it will happen. and i will keep running up and trying to kick that football like Charlie Brown does. i can't help that it may get swiped away a bunch of times, but i'm not going to let that change me. i'm going to keep trying. i'm also very glad for free will. sad it wasn't reciprocated but... it's the free will that will one day make it so special when it's reciprocated. they are there only because they want to be. how cool is that!!!! buck up! life is fun. enjoy yourself through the hurt so you can come out the other side of it. after it happens a few times to you, you realize you can bounce. and then you become a good bouncer. tiger is one of my role models now.

that's nice you are considerate about their feelings, but don't worry about it too much. the number one item on their list of things they are looking for in a guy should (hopefully) be that the person is interested in them as well. either way you choose, they will be tough enough to handle the big let down, don't you think? :)

shows two diff types of personalities and values. do you want to be with the person who has a list of 'unforgiveables' and you just crossed the line and they feel the power and cut you off? or do you want to be with the kind of person who cares more about the connection at hand. you can always always always connect with someone. forgiveness allows that. i just had someone cut me off, and i can't do anything to control it except, accept that they have the right to be the kind of person they want to be. for me, when it comes to relationships (friends or romantic), how can anything spring forward without forgiveness? if you/me wouldn't have 'screwed up' now, it would have happened sometime down the road. they are using it as a license to feel power over you. not to connect. shame on them! truly this is just a reflection about the kind of person THEY are. YOU, on the other hand, care more about connecting with someone and forgiveness. Good on ya! keep it up and look for someone who has similar values as yourself, and who is deserving of your deep care and kindness.

i'm 44 and have gone on a few dates (same guy) who is 28. (does this qualify as cougar?) i wasn't looking for that, but we had a prior work experience in common, and it actually is pretty fun hanging out with him. i'd feel way more comfortable with someone my own age, but i am open. it's fun getting to know him. never mind the fact that i was learning how to drive as he was coming out of the womb. yikes! ahh, life is short. i'm going to enjoy it.

i have dated 2 different guys in the past who were in wheelchairs (they were on an online dating service and it didn't show it in their pic). but i got past it and it was very do-able. one ended up being incredibly manipulative... so... broke up with him. the other was an emotional wreck... hooked on morphine and valium (ie happy-- sad--happy--sad). ahh... the things you find out 1-2 months into something. yeesh. wheelchair... no problem. insides.... that was a different story
