I had seen E mention this on her facebook...but will also include well wishes here as she is one fantastic lady... I've known her now for over 3 years and she certainly lights up a room when she is present...and as one of the Chiefs of the Fun Police...she has certainly done her duty in making many fishies feel welcome ...and always permitted me to do the "newbie inititation" with some friskin.

Rest up darlin and dont lift a finger...let your man do it all for ya!
Love to ya babe!

I am really saddened to hear that Jim is still so ill. I wish I could go and see him and give him some good vibes but I have been ill myself... To be battling so much certainly can wear on ones spirit... I hope and pray that he continues his fight and that we all send the love and prayers he needs to make a healthy recovery.

Your in my prayers Spud... much love to you!

Your Definition of Intimacy
Posted: 11/8/2009 6:10:23 PM
Intimacy for me is a state of mind. You feel safe and comfortable in everyway....you can share things with one another with no fear of being judged... you support one another even if there is a difference of opinion....because you love them. You can be intimate without sharing words through one anothers actions....and I dont mean sexually... a look into one another's eyes... a touch...holding hands...cuddling... and sometimes just breathing and sharing the same space...no words necessary because we just need the others presence. Its the desire to make the other feel safe and comfortable ... through all things you do...It's having that special connection with one you you care greatly about...and you would do anything for them.

Using a self-serve checkout at a supermarket.
Posted: 11/8/2009 5:51:59 PM
Guilty as charged... I like using them.... maybe its because as a teenager I worked at an A&P grocery store when we didnt have scanners... we had to memorize all the codes...every bag of chips had a different code. Of course I also enjoyed yelling out to the staff ....price check on condoms when we first started carrying them...busy Saturday and all! Must have been the rebellious teen in me and thinking it was funny... lol But come on ...it was!

I will admit that its important to keep people employed...at the same time having working in retail and wholesale for many years I am the type of shopper who would sooner go into a plaza and go to one store...not a whole mall. So my shopping experience I would sooner be done with it as quickly as possible. Of course I've been annoyed to when here is no staff to man the self-check out and their closed.... have to go stand up in that hiddeous line. Technology has it good points and bad points... I'm all about customer service... always am friendly and appreciate the hard work the cashiers do and the attitudes they often have to put up with.

"Price check on aisle 5.... Trojan condoms for the man who wants to feel like he's not wearing one and gives her extra pleasure! "

Not just any old kind of Ear Ache???
Posted: 10/27/2009 12:50:18 PM
FOR SALE: One slightly used, somewhat still functioning perforated ear drum... May heal in 6-8 weeks...and dont really know if there will be any hearing loss... So included in the sale, of one said ear drum, is a possible date with an ENT, to explore further long term damage... And as a bonus gift, a hearing test somewhere down the road, when we think it might be healed...or healed enough to tell you what condition your hearing is in.... SUGGEST A PRICE...O.B.O.

Any takers??

Thank goodness I still have my sense of humour.... I may not hear what you have to say .....so forgive me if it was really important and I was supposed to pay attention... It likely wasnt selective hearing this time... I just didnt have a freakin clue you were even talking!

Yikes... 6 times! not fun!

I will be going to the doctors this afternoon... after having spoke with some other people who have suffered chronic ear infections as myself over the years, its sounds more and more like a perforated ear drum... We'll see what the doc says...I'm going to ask to see my ENT and talk to him about getting my enlarged adnoids removed...why this was never done when I had my tonsils out when I was 11 I'm not really sure... but seems to have been the reason why I've continued to suffer from chronic ear infections. Thanks everyone for your input...I will let you all know what the doc says this afternoon. I hope there is some useful information here for everyone...you all have had some good info.

how many threads?
Posted: 10/25/2009 3:06:43 AM
I was one of the old timers that used to enjoy reading these types of threads...because it was about being light hearted and having a form of entertainment....Now the "forums" are pretty anal and I agree with virtually everything that was said by Funny & Sweet. I used to post all the time in various thread fun and serious. By the looks of this thread and the direction it has taken it too is likely to end up on the floor somewhere amidst all the deleted threads. It would be so nice if we could all keep our ego's out of our a$$es ....lighten up and have fun. Some times the best thing to do is just ignore a persons comments...as it only adds fuel to the fire.

Earlier tonight I actually started a thread for the soul purpose of getting some information from my POF friends..... I know there are many fishies out there who have lots of fantastic information and the are people who I value having as another resource in my life. All the pettiness we could do with out!

I miss Gon_Fishin....Who-Deleted_Me....fluffy Handcuffs...I"m sure they lurks here somewhere, once in a while or have had their profiles "deleted" for various reasons.... right PhatFat? lol Its really kinda sad to even say...life in the forums was much simplier then... And we valued one another...our friendships and accepted others for their differences..most of the time. That is where we started with ...Plenty of Friends....

Back in our day...that would have been "Just my two cents" .... Now its " Just my two loonies"...as of the cost of keeping a thread going seems to lead to many "expenses" ...sadly at the expense of others....not just cash!!!

Note on my last post: No pun intended btw...
bloody week
bloody ear etc... again my sense of humour amuses even me.

"You need surgery to remove your adenoids & I bet you snore, don't you?". I just stared at him blankly 'cause he hadn't even examined me yet. He explained that he could hear me coming down the hall because my breathing was so heavy & it wasn't because he was so cute.

Funny & Sweet...I love this whole little rant of yours darlin... first off My EMT was definetly not McDreamy! lol Secondly, I had my tonsils out when I was in grade 6 on Valentine's Day...because apparently they were wrotting lol Took the specialist to figure that out after having seen him since I was like 3... oh and I should also mention we found out about 5 yrs after my surgery he had died of AIDS... big enough news to make the local paper in a small bedroom community in Ontario! Of course he never took out my adenoids.... which as I said above I found out they were enlarged about 10 years ago from from the EMT my doc had referred me to here in BC. I had been suffering a lot of congestion, ear aches still and also would get chronic laringitis when I have a cold. So I got to experience the "piece of spaghetti scope that goes in your nose" Now how hawt is that! lol The Doc explained that with enlarged adenoids the station tubes do not drain properly etc and therefore am more prone to infections. Sorry my story was no way near as errotic as your experience.. I'm so jealous!

Now after having read the link that was offered before thanks to the having my great technically support from B.E. and hearing your story Funny & Sweet... I am not going to mess with this. I've been testing my hearing over the course of the night and I cant hear me rub my fingers together in the ear that oozed all the crap out...but can no problem in my "good ear"

And do a little dance.. make a little rant...cause this post is too short... ya ...this post is too short! Thank god I still have my sense of humour ..especially after this bloody week!

Not just any old kind of Ear Ache???

The On Call Doc that I spoke to from my doc office said that he was more concerned that the pressure hadnt alleviated greatly once my ear had the fluid and blood released and that was reason enough to have it looked at.

The ER doc never actually said there was no sign of puncture. He has asked if I stuck anything in my ear and I replied not to my knowledge. He seemed to be more bewildered and said to take prescription ...then to follow up with my Family Doctor on Monday. But after having slept for 8 hours and then waking up with more blood in my ear was what was even more concerning to me.

I think I def will go into the walk in clinic that is offered after hours & weekends at my Doc office tomorrow to be on the safe side and get the ball rolling for specialist...thankfully I have all ready seen one before and shouldnt have a problem getting in asap.

I will take a look at that site you mentioned above here2eternity... thanks.

EDIT: Cant open link says not complete info...

Thank you both for your concern and questions.

Sorry I should have been a little clearer Doc said to take an antihistamine, that is in addition to the antibiotic.

I forgot to mention as well that I have enlarged adnoids...that an ENT had discovered about 10 years ago. I have had chronic ear aches all my life...but nothing ever like this...that's in part why it was so concerning.

No head trauma but have experienced some dizziness and some nausia. The pain last night was a severe ache and constant pressure... Its not anywhere near intense now but still very sore with some pressure...I guess still aching and congested.

I know some of this is normal stuff with ear infections etc and I also have Fibromyalgia. So when I'm sick with a cold or flu...the symptoms can easily get muddled amidst one another and difficult to differentiate whats what. In some ways too I've become accustomed to just dealing with stuff. The blood in my ear though isnt something I want to get used to though lol.

Not just any old kind of Ear Ache???
Posted: 10/24/2009 10:18:26 PM
So last night I found myself in the ER as I'd been experiencing severe ear pain....T1's with codeine didnt touch the pain and at 2:30am when I felt fluid come of out my ear and looked there was blood as well. I did the debate of do I go to the ER and find out its not a big deal or wait till the am.

I tried doing some searches on the internet and didnt find what I thought was much info... only had references to a few pin drops of blood. This wasnt pouring out blood continuously but didnt exactly stop bleedin either over a 2 hour period. After finally speaking with an on call Phycian from my Doc office he said to go to the ER as I still was having great pressure and he was surprised by the fluid being released that the pressure hadnt lightening up enough to give me some relief...of course the concern being potential hearing loss.

Once the Doc finally examined it in the ER he was perplexed why there was the blood that there was as I hadnt done anything to puncture it....at least to my knowledge. His advice was to go to my Doc office for follow up and in the mean time take the amoxicilan he'd prescribed with an antihistamine to try and relieve some of the pressure (sorry for spelling ). Today when I woke up though I seemed to have more blood that had pooled in my ear.... pressure was still prevleant but no where near intense as it was last night.

I"m hoping with some background now you all can share any experiences that you have had yourself or with children to shed some insight. Of course now its night time again and am feeling like I should just go to my doc's office walk in clinic in Burnaby tomorrow... my hearing in that ear is some what diminished but truly am hoping that its just because its congested and still experiencing some pressure.... Your thoughts please as I know I have many friends here in the BC forums that are in the medical community...and I"m sure it will help others that could one day experience something like this .

Thinking of moving to Vancouver...what should I know to prepare myself??
Posted: 10/17/2009 1:39:07 AM
I think one of the most important things to remember is that everyone's opinions are merely that. I grew up back east in Guelph, Ontario. I've been out west for almost 18 yrs now. For about 13 of those years I lived solidly in Richmond. Why Richmond because I went to Kwantlen and didnt want to have to deal with the transit system being a starving student. Coming from a smaller bedroom communiety there were many things I liked about Richmond... but not necessarily in and around Richmond Centre/ Richomnd Exchange as its called for the transit system.

There are alot of lovely areas in North West to South West of Richmond.... Of course there are many areas that have been getting revamped...which is typical in any community. I was partial to Richmond for many years because I loved living in the Steveston area...it reminded me of things in Ontario growing up... fishing community and being near the water. Of course I've also lived in East Richmond and that is certainly one of the more affordable areas of Richmond. An average one bedroom suite in Richmond was around $600=$700. Richmond has changed quite a bit since I first moved here... now that the Skytrain is in it has changed the skyline tremendously...but apparently transit is 100's better then when I first moved there in 1992!! lol When I rented several different a Bachelor/1 Bdrm suites, from 1996- 2004, they ranged in price from $550-$ 650.

I live in Surrey now..... Why....because it is one of the cheaper area's in the lower mainland. And all though you can hear lots of Surrey girl jokes etc....and I even have friend in Ontario telling me some... Surrey is the fastest and largest growing city in Canada. It also has the largest Police Detachement. Just the area it encompasses in large... let along a growing community that is continously improving and revamping. Sure stay away from the Whalley Area... its just as bad as Downtown Van Main/Hastings.... But there are many affluent area's in Surrey..... and area's that feel more residential then big city. I live in the Bear Creek Park area now and have a one bedroom + Den... It has a nice size liv room, eat in kitchen, full bath, open den area and decent bedroom size that could easily fit a queen bed...even though I have double ... all for $575.00 includes all util & cable. One thing that is common in Surrey is your not likely to have laundry in your suite... but laundromats are everywhere in Surrey... and of course there are places that have laundry...just not as easy to find.

My best advise to you would be to think about the kind of area you like living in now... what kind of ammenities are important to have to you in your area, can you afford to have your own vehicle here and insure it.... if you live downtown ...chances are you cant afford your own car... everything comes with a price.... But what's really important to you. If you can give a detailed list of things that are crutial for you to have...the kind of lifestyle you lead... . homebody, pub guy, internet surfer or have to be in the hub of the universe... We all can give you a much better idea of what will be better suited for you. If you are going to be living with roommates be prepared to not be able to bring much stuff with you and be able to afford to pay storage... shared accom is usually $ 400-$600. IF you have to pay for a storage locker as well you easily looking at another $70-150.00

Regardless... most people east of the Rockies would never move back east.... More often then not you ask people here where they are from and seldomly do you hear they grew up here! We are a very diverse community.....just as Metro T/O & Montreal are... you've just got to know what you like... !!

Best of luck job hunting and house hunting!!

Wish I could join you all... had a great time 3 years ago as you can see from the pics...nothing like being able to make children beg for food... fishing tournies for the biggest fish in Haywire bay... (they were about 3 inches long lmao) And of course began the start of many good friendships with island folk and mainlander folk!

Have fun everyone...I expect your pics to be much more interesting then these posted here! lol

VANCOUVER ISLAND JULY 17 -19 CRUISIN', TUBIN' & BEACH CAMPIN' WEEKEND
Posted: 7/9/2009 1:35:26 AM

Sorry about that flyman. My post wasn't directed at you,,,but more for the members of the group that don't realize how quickly things can turn ugly on the waters. Tight lines.

Thank you Walts & Deb for the gentle reminder... If I may add to that.. I will ask you all please to be responsible... There are still some fishies that I'm sure are not aware that we lost a fishie May Long Weekend Camping...all though it was not a POF event...Anything can happen while we are impared...Keep your eyes out for one another... Make a rule that if you are going somewhere at anytime..be sure to tell someone. We may feel we are familiar with a particular area...or that "it wont happen to us" ... Mother Nature is not a force to be reckoned with...so please all be responsible...have each others back... and of course have fun.

Please let myself or X32 Iaro if you have pics you need to upload and we will allow you to do so. Please make sure you are logged into the forums to upload. That was my lesson learned last time I uploaded pics. Dont think I"ll have a chance today to get mine started... still dealing with clean up and some business stuff from camping etc.

Wow... what a weekend it has been! Thanks so much everyone for making this such a successful event. It was fantastic how we all pulled together Saturday evening after dinner, got those tarps set up along with the Christmas Lights...and that is including all the kids that helped and made it especially a great family event!!! I must say we definetly had the the best site at Goldstream Park. Our site was "Purdier then a set of new snow tires"!!!!

Thanks to my co-host X32 Iaro for his hard work, creativity, blood, sweat, tears and quick problems solving to Gettin R Done so we all could participate in "The Islands First POF Red Neck Olympics" I think it would be a blast if this was to be carried on each year... and allow Uncle Glen to "Pass the torch" to someone else that would like to try and out do our fun... as I'm sure he's needing to go and find another beer! Auntie Amelia would be tickled pink as a pig to see the Red Neck Olympics live on!!!

Congratulations to Team 3 for bringing home the gold, Team 2 for bringing home the Silver , Team 1 for bringing home the bronze!! Hope you all enjoyed your prizes too!! Your sportsmanship, Red Neck spirits and ability to laugh at yourselves and others was fantastic. I also would like to mention a special thank you to two little guys... Mr. W for earning the "Mr Red Neck Congeniality" award and Mr T for earning the "Mr Red Neck Best Looking" award. Also to the all the kids across the way for being so helpful and full of Red Neck Spirit too! And last but not least... Congratulations to Ms. D (SusieQ4U's friend...Sorry dont remember your online name) for earning the "Best Red Neck Fishie" award!

Thanks to all the helping hands, love & friendship that everyone gave to all the kids...big and small...I am so proud to call you all my POF Family!! I certainly enjoyed myself and it was an absolute pleasure and delight for a Mainalnder to host an Island event!!

I will likely be able to get my pics posted in the next couple days... gotta catch up on all the stuff I missed out here at home and keep on looking after the little guy amidst everything else! If you need to be enabled to upload pics please contact myself or "Uncle Glen" lol... we'd be happy to oblige!!

Thanks Y'All... It was a hoot to be your Red Neck Hostess!!!

EDIT: Thanks Deb for clarifying that other fishies can upload their own pics... very much appreciated by myself and "Uncle Glen" I'm sure as well. So please contact etiher one of us or request to be enabled in this thread.

Thanks Deb for offering to update everyone on the status of sites via Shy... Gotta love how we all pull together to make an event happen and fun!

I am hoping to head out to the site around 1/2pm...depending on how long the little guy slows me down! lol He's very helpful but he doesnt quite have the muscles I need to get everything down to the car in one load!

I had tried sending out a mass email to everyone that is signed up but it would not send...not sure why... so I have been cutting and pasting to those that I can and anyone with restrictions I am requesting X32 sends them out... male vs female restrictions!

So the day has arrived.... Let the warm up for the games begin! One thing I know for sure is you all are going to have a blast participating in the Red Neck Olympics....Most of the games will be a surprise to myself and apparently I am going to be the one demonstrating them to you all... Some how I don't think I will be as graceful as Vanna White... Buying a vowel and spinning letters is a snap compared to looking graceful as a Red Neck Host!

Great to see some more faces signed up. To the Cape Brettoner... I"m not sure what campsite you were looking at...but it is your responsibility to find a campsite the day you are coming or reserve it if you have not all ready done so. However I believe it is now too late for you to make a reservation. If Deb & Shy have room at their site you could talk to them about it. Each site is allowed a maximum of 4 adults and 4 kids. There could possibly be some other fishies who have room at their site and if they do they can post here or let you know when you come in Friday or Saturday.

Puffer..you absolutley may join us even if you are just popping in for a visit... bring your snacks, goodies, bevies or whatever floats your boat... the more the merrier...we all have a fabulous time.

NOTE: The main campsite where the group of fishies will be hangin out at will be 74a & 74b. Was there tonight...its probably the best campsite in all of the park..that was coming from the staff at the Gatehouse!! It backs on to the river and is a great size...so for dinner, campfires etc will be great to hang out at.

I am sending out a mass email to everyone that is signed up on the list to make sure they are aware that your hosts AndieDandie and X32 laro will be staying at.

I will be arriving at camp around 2/3pm at the latest to set up and have the little guy run around in circles so he hopefully blows off some energy... Anyone that likes to play hide and go seek will be his best friend... I guarantee it! lmao

ONE MORE..

Look for the big Fish at the edge of our camp to find us! lol If you've swam pass our fish...you've gone to far and possibly ended up in the river! lmao
