A poem to think about ~ By Erma Bombeck

I Loved You Enough
"You don't love me!" How many times have your kids laid that one on you? Someday when my children are old enough to understand the logic motivation a mother, I'll tell them:
I loved you enough to bug you about where you were going and what time you would get home.
I loved you enough to let you discover your friend was a creep.
I loved you enough to stand over you for two hours while you cleaned your bedroom, a job that would have taken me 15 minutes.
I loved you enough to ignore what every other mother did or said.
I loved you enough to let you stumble, fall, hurt and fail.
I loved you enough to accept you for what you are, not what I wanted you to be.
Most of all, I loved you enough to say no when you hated me for it.
Some mothers don't know when their job is finished. They figure the longer the kids hang around, the better parents they are.

I see children as kites. You spend a lifetime trying to get them off the ground. You run with them until you're both breathless...they crash...you add a longer tail. You patch and comfort, adjust and teach-and assure them that someday they will fly.

Finally they are airborne, but they need more string, and you keep letting it out. With each twist of the ball of twine, the kite becomes more distant. You know it won't be long before that beautiful creature will snap the lifeline that bound you together and soar-free and alone. Only then do you know you did your job.

Trials and Tribulations....
Posted: 12/8/2008 6:14:46 PM
copied: Kisses Aren’t Contracts Plant Your Own Garden

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security,

And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises

And you begin to accept your defeats
With your head up and your eyes open,

With the grace of a woman,
Not the grief of a child

And you learn to build all your roads on today,
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
and futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.

After awhile you learn that even sunshine
Burns if you get too much

So you plant your own garden and decorate your own soul,
In stead of waiting for someone to bring you flowers

And you learn that you really can endure...
That you really are strong
And you really do have worth,
and you learn and learn...
With every good bye you learn.
And that with every tomorrow comes the new dawn.

Calling all 40-60Something Males?

safn1949 well said, thank you. The issue is the search narrows and the stereotypical 40-50-60 years of past generations. Todays 40-60's are so much more.

I don't know if this is posted somewhere else on this forum here goes:
This is written by a columnist Frank Kaiser ( often given credit to Andy Rooney in error)
As I grow in age, I value women over 40 most of all. Here are just a few reasons why:
A woman over 40 will never wake you in the middle of the night and ask, "What are you thinking?" She doesn't care what you think. If a woman over 40 doesn't want to watch the game, she doesn't sit around whining about it. She does something she wants to do, and it's usually more interesting. Women over 40 are dignified. They seldom hav e a screaming match with you at the opera or in the middle of an expensive restaurant. Of course, if you deserve it, they won't hesitate to shoot you if they think they can get away with it. Older women are generous with praise, often undeserved. They know what it's like to be unappreciated. Women get psychic as they age. You never have to confess your sins to a woman over 40. Once you get past a wrinkle or two, a woman over 40 is far sexier than her younger counterpart. Older women are forthright and honest. They'll tell you right off if you are a jerk if you are acting like one. You don't ever have to wo nder where you stand with her. Yes, we praise women over 40 for a multitude of reasons. Unfortunately, it's not reciprocal. For every stunning, smart, well-coiffed, hot woman over 40, there is a bald, paunchy relic in yellow pants making a fool of himself with some 22-year old waitress. Ladies, I apologize. For all those men who say, "Why buy the cow when you can get the milk for free?", here's an update for you. Nowadays 80% of women are against marriage. Why? Because women realize it's not worth buying an entire pig just to get a little sausage!

Unstuffed Pepper Soup Recipe
Posted: 12/1/2008 7:11:18 PM
Thank you so much
My family has traditionally used, in STUFFED peppers, 1-2 pounds of ground pork and about 1/2# ground ham. It makes it softer meat different taste, so I will go with your other ingredients.

I sent all my numbers after taking an hour with my Verizon rep, and he went remote on my computer.
I went to ipconfig and the same OLD numbers are still there.

Once again, this only happens on FireFox which is my preferred server.
On Internet Explorer, it is ok. I would prefer to get back on FireFox for my bookmarks and familiarity. thanks

Image problem on FFox POF not with IE POF
Posted: 11/29/2008 8:51:46 AM
POF web master:
This is what is odd: image problem only on Firefox POF site. FFox and other sites have no image issue.
POF is fine with IE.
Verizon rep had to help me get these right numbers for you.
I prefer FFox so hope you can help me. Thank you.

I'll have to share this with the men in my office.
True, some depending on tone like 'thanks' . I suppose an honest expression would be 'thank you'.

This post is old, and happening again. Is there a chance this will also correct itself? I am not a technical person and think this should be resolved from POF.

Passive Aggressive Behavior???

All about him are key words.
I had asked for help( change washer hoses, help me put in my storm door windows, little stuff) from a guy I dated for 4+ years...........oh, I forgot, I was cleaning out the garage, driveway, doing this or that, for him.
I QUIT.
I get more help from friends when he is not around, truck in driveway....
when his truck is in my driveway, I suppose neighbors, etc. believe he could be helping me. Bag that junk.
That is why I am here, I am not junk and will not accept junk.
no icon of hitting my head on the wall
Insanity is doing the same thing over again, expecting different results.
