What made 60's music so great?
Posted: 7/22/2009 9:02:58 PM
The music of the 60's was the beginning of a new direction or a break out from the manufactured , safe love songs of the 50's...The English having their own underground movemnents such as the "Mods" and the Rockers, two very different groups living lifestyles opposed to one another gave birth to different types and approaches to Rock and Roll..Example...The Kinks being "Mods" and The Who being"Rockers"...This quickly enriched the music scene in the Caverns of Liverpool.
The English also took the better influences of American Rock and Blues incorperating
it into their own interpations...Bottom line, there was much more creative music being written and played in England than the States...Hendrix had to go to England to make it...
Meanwhile in the States there was also change, it was called "Psychedelic" music...
Bands like the Airplane, Blues Magoos,Sir Douglas Quintet,Electric Prunes, The Dead and of course the Haight Asbury thing.....Change was in the air, music reflected change and a new outlook. This was happening in Europe as well as America .
The 60's gave birth to highly creative musicans, more so in England. Eric Clapton leaves John Mayall and put's together Cream, Steve Wynwood leaves Spencer Davis and starts Traffic and later Blind Faith, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, the list goes on...
The 60's marked a departure from the norm in Rock and Roll and the beginning of
a new exciting and creative path. The 70's are a shinning example.....
The 60's were a magical time, a time of hope, of change and courage of which the music reflected.....

Why Are Over 45 Men In Love With Motorcycles?
Posted: 5/24/2009 7:25:52 PM
I posted a profile of myself on this site, my interests, my passions, my feelings...
Openly and honestly....
Not in an attempt to impress but in an attempt to show who I am....
Motorcycles have been a part of my life for many years, yes in part it speaks as to
who I am as does the picture of my dog...These are some of the things in my life...
But to those who critize....A quote from Bob Dylan says it all....."Don't critize what you can't understand".........

Do you do drugs?
Posted: 7/6/2006 11:43:33 AM
I grew up in the late 60's and 70's.....Yeah...I've been there....
However....I'm quit happy with my self and really see no need for
altering my personality with drugs. But I dont pass judgement on
anyone else....

Dating and no perfume
Posted: 6/19/2006 10:21:53 PM
I think a very slight trace of perfume is ok...Any more becomes a distraction to me.
Actually I think I would prefer no perfume......

How do you break an obsession with someone?
Posted: 6/11/2006 11:47:01 AM
The problem is all inside your head", she said to me
The answer is easy if you take it logically
I'd like to help you in your struggle to be free
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover

She said it's really not my habit to intrude
Furthermore, I hope my meaning won't be lost or misconstrued
But I'll repeat myself at the risk of being crude
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Ooo slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

She said it grieves me so to see you in such pain
I wish there was something I could do to make you smile again
I said I appreciate that and would you please explain
About the fifty ways

She said why don't we both just sleep on it tonight
And I believe in the morning you'll begin to see the light
And then she kissed me and I realized she probably was right
There must be fifty ways to leave your lover
Fifty ways to leave your lover

You just slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just get yourself free
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

Slip out the back, Jack
Make a new plan, Stan
You don't need to be coy, Roy
Just listen to me
Hop on the bus, Gus
You don't need to discuss much
Just drop off the key, Lee
And get yourself free

What professions are a turn off?
Posted: 5/28/2006 11:49:04 AM
I look at the person, their personality, what's important to them...
The person inside....What they do for a living means nothing....
I learned a long time ago not to prejudge anyone....
It's what's inside that counts......

Who invented Pyschedelic music
Posted: 4/13/2006 8:19:18 PM
I think pyschedelic music started in the early sixties. But what's interesting is it started
amost simultaneously in different parts of the U.S....Groups like Blues Magoos, Sir Doulas Qiuntet, Elecrtic Prunes, Airplane, Mobey Grape, the "electric" Dylan and the list goes on...
There was a feeling a natural evolution to this type of music ...
It was the times we lived in , The Pyschedelic drugs that were in vogue at the time, but most of all it was a collective feeling....A life style.
A lot of musicans moved in that direction...Early Pink Floyd ( we all saw what happened to Syd Barrett).....Hendrix went to England and finally hit it big...Early Cream....
The Beatles Sgt Pepper was a big step forward into pyschedelic music...It launched us into
the "studio" possibilities...Great sound effects and amazing productions......
Pyschedelic music was another step in the ever evolving Music scene...It influences Rock today.....

Would you judge someone by the music they listen to?
Posted: 12/25/2005 3:35:38 AM
Music is a very personal and spirtiual choice. There are forms of music that I don't care for,
However I still respect it as music.
I respect anyone who is passionate about their music....
I don't think you can judge someone by their musical tastes...Nor should you...
I love Classic Rock, Progressive Rock, Cool Jazz and Bebop Jazz....Does that really tell you anything about me?
Hey!!! Look at my picture.....This guy like's AC/DC.....Go figure???....

Father Christmas......Greg Lake
Posted: 12/23/2005 12:48:55 PM
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
But instead it just kept on raining
A veil of tears for the Virgin's birth
I remember one Christmas morning
A winters light and a distant choir
And the peal of a bell and that Christmas Tree smell
And their eyes full of tinsel and fire

They sold me a dream of Christmas
They sold me a Silent Night
And they told me a fairy story
'Till I believed in the Israelite
And I believed in Father Christmas
And I looked at the sky with excited eyes
'Till I woke with a yawn in the first light of dawn
And I saw him and through his disguise

I wish you a hopeful Christmas
I wish you a brave New Year
All anguish pain and sadness
Leave your heart and let your road be clear
They said there'll be snow at Christmas
They said there'll be peace on Earth
Hallelujah Noel be it Heaven or Hell
The Christmas you get you deserve

Posted: 12/14/2005 8:38:58 PM
Unfortunalty this is the internet....Not real life...People can be what ever they want to be....
It's like advertising.....What appears to look the best gets the most attention....
I just try to be honest and be myself....Anything else will catch up with you later...
Theres nothing wrong with you....Just keep trying and stay away from the popularity queens...

A Lucky Man
Posted: 12/14/2005 6:54:07 PM
If you have a friend on whom you think you can rely
You are a lucky man
If you've found the reason to live on and not to die
You are a lucky man
Preachers and poets and scholars don't know it
Temples and statues and steeples won't show it
If you've got the secret just try not to blow it
Stay a lucky man! A lucky man!

If you've found the meaning of the truth in this old world
You are a lucky man
If knowledge hangs around your neck like pearls instead of chains
You are a lucky man
Takers and fakers and talkers won't tell you
Teachers and preachers will just buy and sell you
When no one can tempt you with heaven or hell
You'll be a lucky man

Takers and fakers and talkers won't tell you
Teachers and preachers will just buy and sell you
When no one can tempt you with heaven or hell
You'll be a lucky man

You'll be better by far to be just what you are
You can be what you want if you are what you are
And that's a lucky man!
Oh yeah, a lucky man
And that's a lucky, a lucky, a lucky man
A lucky, a lucky, a lucky man

"Did you know there was a time.....
Love songs gathered in my mind"...
"Poetry in every line"......

The one thing that is an instant turn-off, ends the conversation........
Posted: 12/14/2005 6:31:35 PM
There are a few things I've learned (the hard way) to look for......
Such as....."well what do you want to talk about?"....
Or someone adds you on their IM list....And it always says "busy" when
you happen to glance their way...What's up with that????...
But If it just doesnt feel relaxed or I keep getting "forwarded" jokes and stories
in my email.......I'm out of there......
It's hard enough to meet someone in real life...but online....It's even stranger....
But I keep trying...............

Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud
Posted: 11/21/2005 10:27:55 AM
I am not suprised......I joined Match.com for three months....
The only people I meet were trying to extort money....
I just had a feeling that something was wrong...
In my experience, some of the profiles I responded to were fake.....
It's a shame and a scam..........
