how do you handle first long distance dates?
Posted: 6/28/2010 6:34:44 PM
All depends on who you meet.

I met a woman 1000 miles away. Not on POF, or a dating site. Actually was from Facebook.

We decided to meet in Boston, she even paid for my tickets. That was bonus. She arranged it so we would both change planes in Atlanta. Well, it was instant attraction, right from the get go.

We wished Boston never ended.

I went down to Florida to see her in April. SHe is planning end of month. We get along great, and definitely have that feeling for each other.

Only thing keeping us apart is the kids factor. I do not want to move far from my kids and neither does she.

So we keep in touch and visit occasionally...

Sometimes life just sucks.

Restore disk

Like it was said, most OEM's have a utility to make their own restore set DVD, or have a recovery partition.
I personally use Acronis. I have an external hard drive usb adapter that came with a program called EZ Gig 2. It wors great for what you want to do.

Gotta blame someone. He was pissed you never gave him the sex he tried to set up, so he had to make you look bad, not himself....make you out to be the slut who would not do him.

Humans created by Aliens: Plausible theory?
Posted: 3/15/2009 4:16:47 AM
Let's see...God made Adam, then made Eve from a Piece of Adam...Sounds like Cloning/Genetic Experimentation to me....

God is pretty much Alien to us....So God is an Alien, who lives somewhere in "heaven" which is to say..somewhere out there among the stars.....

What is so hard to understand?

It is certainly plausible that that "Aliens" created us.....The bible is a great history book. What people did not understand, they named God.....The Sun, the Moon are God in some cultures...

I am agnostic, so do not take me as a religious nutjob...

My 2 cents....

Personally I tend to use Yahoo...

Anyways..I am usually on my laptop when on POF. The chat here locks my browser up everytime. I cannot use it at all. Alot of the time, my daughter is doing homework, or my son is playing a game on the other computer, which only works half the time anyways. There are quite a few people who have the same kinds of problems with the chat......

restrictions on visitation. INPUT wanted.

No, I say my child, because I am evidently the only parent in this equation.
It is possible to be a genetic sperm donor and nothing more.

I hate women who act like this. He wants to see his child. Kids get lice, boohoo. I have 50/50 physical and legal custody. When it is my week, Mom does not question what I do, where I go, who I am around. Nor do I question her. Get over it, it is both of your child. Children are not a yours and mine thing like who gets the dog, the couch or the fridge. As long as the child is not abused, be glad that her dad wants to be in her life.

Happy single parent?
Posted: 3/12/2009 2:11:14 AM
I have friends that are the same way. I have been divorced for 3 years, practically single for 5....I was happy in a way, being single, not having to worry about anyone other han myself and the kids. I just told them that I was not ready yet, and when I am I will find someone. I was devastated at how my marriage ended (her cheating among other things), and kinda had a bad attitude towards women in general, and needed that time to get over the hurt.

You are not delusional. Olus, you seem to be on a dating site now.......

How do I respond to Hey..?
Posted: 3/9/2009 7:54:59 AM
IF you are out somewhere IRL, when someone comes up and talks to you, do they give you a 5 minute speel of their life's ambitions, their job/dog/car, that they think you are a beautiful woman/man, and notice you are drinking coffee reading the latest Dean koontz novel, before you can say anything? No, when they approach you they say some hopefully witty one liner, or say hi, and hope you respond favorably...and take it from there....

Internet dating has jaded too many people. To me people tend to think that in order for them to even consider talking to you, you have to tell them your life story in 4 paragraphs or less, while explaining why they liked your profile...then maybe they will respond.....

Online has made things more complicated that it really needs to be....

Mothers paying child support, am I missing something?
Posted: 2/12/2009 7:45:15 AM
I think there is a huge double standard involved, and I am one of the examples.

My oldest, born out of wedlock, her mother making pretty much the same pay as me. Since incomes were close my support was 350 a month. Not a whole lot, but it is based on incomes, and ours were near identical. I was the common every other weekend and weds, night parent.

She turned out to be unfit, long story, and now I have 100% custody, and she has not even attempted to see our daughter. My award of support is 59 dollars a month....go figure, and she made more than I did at the time.

How To Continue Child Support When The Child Is In College
Posted: 10/24/2008 5:48:26 AM
While your at it could you please try and find out why my kids haven't seen a dime of the $16,000.00 of child support my ex should have paid towards their lifestyle(including sports..etc..) for the last 6 years?.....

He has to pay for their "lifestyle"? Is this in the papers? I have never heard of a lifestyle clause...I know there is nothing in my divorce papers about this.

Irregardless of why he pays more for the other kids, he pays what he is ordered correct?

y comments might be based on my own personal experiences...I deal with it....it is what it is....but I take acception to indignant people such as the "posse" here that refuse to acknowledge the double-edged sword that exists on both sides of the fence....

What sides are you referring to, all you post is how much men who actually pay their support are scumbag deadbeats, and post like definite man hater.....

NO Sweetness, she pays nothing more. She does not even see her daughter. This is what pisses me off about the system. With me losing my good paying job, to a pretty much crap paying job, I sure could use some more. Michigan's economy is in the tank, I am glad I have a job right now...

Posted: 10/17/2008 10:47:47 AM

How come when a court "awards" a mother with child support or custody these days..it is a miscarriage of justice...a court of a biased opinion..yet at the same time society can dismiss a man providing for his obligations and responsibilities based on that same premis?

How about a real live case in point, my own Child support Case.

My Daughters Mother (who by the way has hod nothing to do with her for 8 years now) Makes 36k a year. Guess what her support is per month? PS..I have sole custody. 59 dollars. That is it. Even though I went to court for more, when I lost my job of 15 years 3 years ago. The judge did not want her to face hardships. WTF, if the roles were reversed, I would be paying 600 or so a month. Tell me that is not ass backwards. If that is not biased towards the mother, I sure do not know what is....

So if he was able to go to court and prove his income was $25,000 and he is paying $7,200 per year in cs...leaving him with $17,800 or $1,483.33 per month. What would be a satisfactory amount of cs?

Let's see.. rent, electricity, gas, water, gas to get to and from work, food...not sure where he lives but let's go with the low side of around here..

700 rent
100 electricity
100 gas (summer is only 30-40 but winter is 150+, rounding here)

~100 gasoline 25 bucks a week

200 food (that is only 50 bucks a week on food...it is probably higher)

100 insurance for the car that is not full coverage..maybe more maybe less, depends on coverage and where he lives.

He sure would be living the high life...

And the OP has never said the Man did not pay his support. So I do not get your "scumbag" comments. Just because you got screwed b y your Ex does not mean all Men who pay their support are scum...

Oh that money is before taxes....so if you take the 22% or so tax on his earnings...looks like he is living in a box in the alley....

Disappointed
Posted: 10/13/2008 6:46:30 PM

Only last week we went out on the friday and i asked him on the sunday if he fancied comeing to mine (he had text and said he wasn't doing anything) then he didn't answer the text until 4 hours later and said he'd fallen asleep (didn't seem very honest to me)
He also had cancelled two other dates due to illness - one tme a headache, and the 2nd time cos he was hungover and the third time cos he had 'man' flu.

OMG he was tired one time..Heck, I fall asleep all the time, because when I actually have a few minutes of my own time, I am so tired from everything else...OMG He had a hangover and the flu...

He is better off without you. You sound slightly like a "me,me,me" type of girl... Did you think maybe he was put off by having to be the one that kept initiating things...

Maybe the friend of his let him in on something from your weekend  Did you go to Vegas?

Now I know better and babies are so cute...I miss little babies, but do not want anymore..in a few years (hopefully 8 or so) my eldest will have a grandbaby for me to play with :)

4th Grade Issues
Posted: 10/13/2008 1:51:03 PM
Make sure you have a pencil holder so that the supplies are not left in the desk. I started changing classes in the third grade, although I had lockers. Just get a back pack large enough for all his/her stuff.

Homework get's worse as you advance in grades it is part of school. My kids complain about how much they have, but they do it. Sure it is a lot of responsibility, but they have to learn it in school. You can talk to the school about it, but the curriculum is what the school board decided that children that age can handle. Your child is not the only one.

Every day after I get home from work, on the days I have my kids, we sit down and make sure homework was finished, I would help them with what they needed, and would support them. My kids are a couple years ahead of yours (6th, 7th and 11th) and the only one who had issues with it is my youngest, but he did it. No matter how much he complained, he would not leave the dining room table until the work was done. I heard the "I wish I did not have to go to school" stuff, but ignored it, and made sure the homework was finished. Kids at that age do tend to become rebellious. Setting them straight now and getting them in the routine that homework is essential, and that it will benefit them after the graduate from college, will work out in the long run.

You cannot tell him "I think you get too much homework" because then he hears Mom saying it so it must be true. This could cause issues too, since my Mom thinks it is too much, it is too much and my Mom knows everything.....Encouragement and help is what it is all about.

How To Continue Child Support When The Child Is In College
Posted: 10/13/2008 1:12:47 PM

First off Capitano....if I need to tell you what the difference between what a scumbag deadbeat father "legally" got away with paying, instead of having a civil discussion on what would be an adequate amount of finacial and moral support to raise a child...then I have no further reason to be as nice too you as I have been in the past....GAME ON Capitano!!

Umm, excuse me Liz..aren't scumbag deadbeat dad's the guys who owe thousands upon thousands of dollars in unpaid child support? This guy PAID. Regardless of what you think, he lived up to his responsibility of paying. While he was not a father to the kids, he paid his support, at 600 a month for years. 3 kids, 200 each a month. He paid his dues.

Are you a man hater or something? He paid 7,200 dollars a year for at least 12 years. Do you expect him to live in homeless shelters or something?

our 6 year old son & our 4 year old daughter & two months pregnant with our third child.

He was originally assigned in Oct 1995 $1100/mo in child support and he was suppose to provide medical insurance for the children. He stopped seeing his children before the baby was born May 1996 & got his child support lowered to $600/month. The medical coverage never surfaced after the divorce.

How do people feel about men who hit a woman in self defense?
Posted: 10/13/2008 11:43:46 AM
As someone who grew up in a house full of women (6 sisters, no brothers, age wise I was right in the middle) if a woman attacks me, starts hitting first, I will hit back. I will try and restrain fiost, but if it goes on, well, shit happens. I learned to fight more from getting my ass kicked by my sisters ganging up on me, than through the streets, and I grew up in the City of Detroit....

Just because a person dislikes tattoos on a woman... that makes him shallow and an idiot? What if he was severely disappointed? What if he is educated?

No, it is not just about tats microchip, it is more about your holier than thou attitude that you display in this thread and the women who smoke thread. You act like your shit does not stink, and anyone who does not hold to your beliefs are scum of the earth.

While I have no tats, due to choice, I love well done tats on women. Some of them are masterpieces. I am not fond of the everyone has to have "tramp stamp" phase that went around, but good art is good art, whether it is on a canvas, a wall, or a womans (or man's for that matter) body.

I will be getting a tat in about 6-7 months though. My daughter is getting one for her 17th birthday. She has wanted one for years, and we came up with the date. She asked me to get one with her. She is designing her's and mine, she is an excellent little artist. It will have meaning.

Court adjourned?!
Posted: 10/12/2008 12:17:42 PM
I cannot believe you went over a year with nothing in place whatsoever. My whole divorce took 8 month from first file to final hearing. It is like you are now just filing.

My Ex tried the "write everything down tactic" but none of it was admitted in court. She pulled out her notebook and tried...on this day he called me a ****, on this day we argued and he hung up on me...blah blah blah...but of course, nothing she said went into her notes. SHe would frequently argue and hang up and call names too. It was all one sided, all the things she thought were bad, but nothing about what she did. The moderator was not impressed. Especially since she was the one who decided to not let me see the kids on a whim, because her and I argued. We finally got things together and I have split 50/50 custody now.

The Long and Short of IT
Posted: 10/12/2008 12:05:34 PM
It all depends on the woman. Some women are extra sexy with short hair, but long hair on her is not as sexy. Same with other women...they are extra hot with long hair, but short hair is not for them. Hair grows back rather quickly, so it is not like you are stuck with it forever...

17 and 3/4 year old girl wants a tattoo .. HELP?
Posted: 10/10/2008 6:50:06 AM
My Daughter can have one at 17. We worked this out. It took me 3 years to allow her to get dread locks at 16, and dreads are a lot easier to remove than a tat. She wants me to get one at the same time. I have no tats, but am going to get one with her. She is a little artist and is designing it for me.

No Bing, the child cannot just tell the judge he wants to live with "insert parent here". I said "If there are issues, and the child is older, a Judge can take into consideration what the child wants and why, after there is psychological evaluations and all that, but the child cannot just say, I want to live with Dad and it is over with. " Legally they are still minors.

The legal standard used in all states is “the Best Interests of the Child.” In many States, including Michigan, the Child Custody Act will include the child’s preference among the factors that the court needs to consider in modifying custody.

In Michigan, the judge has almost limitless latitude in deciding whether he will listen to a child’s preference and in deciding how much weight that preference will be given. But it is safe to say that in Michigan, there is no specific "age" when a child can dictate with whom she wants to live.

Every case is fact-driven and the particular circumstances of the family’s situation will matter as much or more than the child's age and the child’s preference.

In a case decided by the Michigan Court of Appeals more than twenty-five years ago, the court made this very enlightened statement:

A child custody determination is much more difficult and subtle than an arithmetical computation of factors. It is one of the most demanding undertakings of a trial judge, one in which he must not only listen to what is said to him and observe all that happens before him, but a task requiring him to discern and feel the climate and chemistry of the relationships between children and parents. This is an inquiry in which the court hopes to hear not only the words but the music of the various relationships. [Dempsey v Dempsey, 96 Mich App 276, 289; (1980)
Family lawyers would all agree that the older a child is, the more his or her preferences tend to influence the judge. When a 15-year-old child, for example, has a strong and reasoned preference for being with one parent, forcing that child to remain in a home where she does not wish to be could quickly lead to more serious family problems. Where domestic harmony becomes a factor, that may carry more weight in the judge's estimation than the child's preference itself.

That factor weighed heavily in the court of appeals’ review of the trial court decision in Foskett v Foskett, 247 Mich App 1 (2001). There, one of the children had a strong preference to live with the father. After interviewing all of the children in camera, the trial court changed custody of all of the children to the father. The mother appealed, challenging the trial court’s findings of fact. The court of appeals reversed, holding that the court’s findings of fact were against the great weight of the evidence and could only have been reached by the court’s reliance upon the unrecorded information that the judge gleaned in his in camera talk with the children.

So what I posted was correct. It is "best interest". Just because a kids wants to live with Dad, Dad may not be a good father. Kids want to go live with the easier, more fun parent.
