My poems (Hope you like them :D)
Posted: 10/11/2009 3:25:21 PM
Yes I liked them very much....

I'm sorry mine wouldn't stack up....

But today, I was reflecting back on life - as we all do sometimes - and I re-read something I'd written a couple of years ago, shortly after my partner died.

I smelled your aftershave today.
I waited for the smell to appear on its own
Like the ghost of you had walked in
But it didn’t, so I took the bottle from the draw
And sprayed.

And there you were on a Saturday night
Making me wait while you preened
Combing hair that wasn’t there
Smiling back at your own reflection
Perfect teeth.

Your shaving brush stills holds its shape.
The razor hasn’t gone blunt.
The top draw is still yours
A cobweb hangs across your shaving mug
It makes me weep.

I can’t move any of it
Don’t want it to be different
In case I only dreamed that you died
And tomorrow you’ll be back
Shaving.

My Joke Thread.
Posted: 9/30/2009 12:26:11 PM
An important lesson for the guys.......

A guy that's due to get married can't help but notice that as the wedding day is drawing nearer, his fiancee's sister is paying closer attention to him. Secret looks across the room, winks, touching his bottom discreetly. Of course, he's trying not to notice her lucious lips, gorgeous figure, sexy ass, not to mention those come to bed eyes and DD breasts...but more days follow of the sister offering little tempting gestures.

Eventually, he gets a call from her, begging him to drop by her house, she has important stuff to talk about.....

He arrives, to be confronted by his future sister in law, long hair flowing over her semi naked young firm sexy body....begging him to take her to bed. Just once. She knows it's wrong but can't they please do the hot sex thing, just once...pleeeeeese....?

The guy gathers his thoughts. Walks past the sex kitten and opens the front door. Only to be confronted by his future wife, Mother and Father in law and lots of other relatives....."Welcome to the family.....you're the pefect gentleman ....now we know you'll never cheat on her".....His girlfriend swoons into his welcoming arms.....

And the lesson is...............always leave your condoms in the car.

Original Poetry

Things that make me smile

My Mom and my Dad
Getting hugged. Getting kissed
Drinking with friends.
Sometimes we’re pissed.

Being patient with queuing
Giving up my seat
Play with my hair
NEVER my feet

Spending hours getting ready
1st date butterflies
Cloudy weekends, breaking
Into clear skies

Lying in the sun
Avoiding the snow
Seeing a stop sign
Changing to go

Praying to the God
Of lottery tickets
Watching spiders spin webs
Listening to crickets

Planting a seed
Watching it bloom
Being the last guest
To enter the room

Walking alone.
Peace, solitude
Taking 15 long years
To solve Rubic’s cube

Being single again
And older than 40
And loving the fact
I’ll always be naughty

Never afraid of the
Passing of time
Confident my wrinkles
Are still in their prime

Barefeet on wet grass
Dad’s best cologne
And coffee. And bread
Reminds me of home.

My sister’s sweet face
The wonder of genetics
Thanking Coco Chanel
For her wonderful cosmetics

Photos in frames,
And sometimes in books
Going to bars,
Eye contact. First looks.

Singing at Christmas
New years’ celebration
All it’s new promise
And high expectation

The flag of my country
Colours that don’t run
Our bravest police force
That work with no gun

Lying in late
Just because it feels good
And coming to the end
When I never thought I would.

Iceland anyone..?
Posted: 9/29/2008 2:46:36 PM
Well, I didn't pay too much attention to the women.....but as it's so cold, I hope you like em with lots of layers! The natives are very friendly. I saw lots of different places around the capital, so stayed pretty touristy but it's still worth seeing.....I remember it being the cleanest, freshest air I ever breathed, before or since.
Anyway, it'll be a great holiday I'm sure. Enjoy..

The Great Virtue Sitting Parlor and Greasy Spoon

Pouring over letters. Savouring the lines
Like sipping sweet liquors, or intoxicating wines.
A source of harmless pleasure , to satisfy my thirst
Until I then remember.
You made your exit first.

...and hello again to the great sitting virtuoso's and greasy spooners. This is like coming home to visit loved ones. Feel hugged!

Iceland anyone..?
Posted: 9/22/2008 2:36:41 PM
Hi
Fantastic country. Stunning scenery, But one of the world's most expensive! I've lived and travelled throughout Europ, so am very used to high prices/mediocre service, but I gotta tell ya dude, take a lotta cash with ya.
Average prices for meals and drinks (not in a restaurant, just a bar/pub), are around 3 times more expensive than where I live, and upto twice as expensive as London.
A round of beers in a bar (4 people), cost over $40......hope you have deep pockets!

Mind you. You gotta try everything once! Even paying $40 for beers!

Enjoy

Chicken Soup for the Soul pg 1
Posted: 9/9/2008 12:38:38 PM
Fingers stroking my hair, slipping all down my face,
Reminds me there’s no hurry.
No need to rush. No need to race

Stretching down to my shoulders, running a path I cannot see
Reminds me there’s no hurry
The perfect pair. Is you and me

Upturned hand, bigger than mine, tracing down my arm
Reminds me there’s no hurry
Utter peace. Utter calm.

That gentle softest sighing when you reach around my hips
Reminds me there’s no hurry
And of those softest sighing lips

That lusting of two bodies that neither of us resists
Reminds me there’s no hurry
And the joy merely persists

He really was my chicken soup.

One for the widows/widowers
Posted: 9/7/2008 9:06:51 AM
I've decided to get back into dating with the goal of finding a long term partner. It's been just over a year since my partner died, and I still think about him. Remember stuff, good and bad. But it feels the right time to move on. I haven't met anyone yet to date, but when I do, will probably be nervous for all kinds of reasons. Have doubts
and wonder if this is right. But I'm determined to stay positive and move on.

Having doubts, when something as traumatic as losing your lover has happened, I think is pretty nomal. You just have to think about why you're doing it. To find love again.

And for me, a life without love, is no life at all. Best foot forward. Keep smiling. I'm sure you'll find the happy ending.

Dating a guy who is 5'3
Posted: 9/7/2008 4:46:24 AM
I'm also 5'9, and height really does matter to me. I'd rather be honest about that....I love kissing a guy taller than me so I can stand on tippy toes. Shallow but true, and think it feels so much sexier to have a guy put his arm around my shoulder when we're walking along - that just won't work if you're 5' 3. I'd probably dislocate your shoulder! And I love wearing heels.....

My ex-husband was 5' 6. Nuff said.

It's raining
Posted: 9/6/2008 5:33:51 PM
Well I've sat through one of the wettest days on record in the centre of England on a cold September day and I can tell you, even after living here all of my 42 years, whilst
I understand the romance of hearing it fall, when you're tucked up warm inside with someone special, give me sunshine any day of the week and twice on Sundays....it's gonna be raining some more tomorrow, so please spare a thought for the fishes on the other side of the pond!!!

Oh yuk! long hair on a guy is repulsive! (IMHO) Any style of long hair
yuk! yuk! yuk!.....I'd cut it off while you were sleeping!

Although could come in handy when we have to drag you outside and show you the way to the lawnmower....

Does anyone know of any funny poems?
Posted: 8/31/2008 3:01:33 AM
And for the same guy, who changed an evening out with me, because he was sleepy.....For only light entertainment
And purposes of wit,
I’ll tell you what occurred last night
You won’t believe this sh*t…

I have myself an American friend
Which on it’s own I know,
Is not a cause for great concern
Yet yields a tale of woe…

He had himself a holiday.
A vacation if you please
He went back home to the USA
Then came back here to freeze

He duly called his English friend
To indulge in usual banter
To talk of sun and holidays and
All the normal canter…

But then he took her breath away
By telling her just this
“I need to sleep a lot tonight
And give tomorrow a miss..”

She duly nodded her acceptance
But then she is a Brit.
And underneath her thoughts began
With “what a little sh*t”….

She took a coin and tossed it
Had a girls’ night in the end.
Big fun. And on reflection
Beats a sleepy, Yankee friend…..

Does anyone know of any funny poems?
Posted: 8/31/2008 2:58:36 AM
Here's a poem I wrote for an American friend, currently living on my side of the pond....and Battenburg is his favourite cake.....

I made a house from Battenburg
And built it on the coast,
I preferred it to a chocolate torte,
Or lightly buttered toast…

First I ate the windows,
Followed by the door,
I nibbled through the ceiling
Then started on the floor….

I worked my way around it
As the walls fell in on me
I ate the last remaining crumbs
And looked out to the sea..

I made a house from Battenburg
And don’t think me a liar
I only have one small regret
I didn’t build it higher….!

LAST LINE BECOMES YOUR FIRST LINE OF AN 8 (EIGHT) LINE STANZA
Posted: 8/29/2008 10:50:16 AM
this is the best part of the day
when I know you'll be home afer you've been away
When I'll see you and kiss you, and know that you're mine
And you'll make me some dinner, and ply me with with wine!

When you'll bathe, and then tell me that I'm on your mind
And convince me I'm special - a one-ok-a-kind
Third finger left hand says I'm wearing your ring
So don't waste all those words, cus I'm a sure thing!

Before I book my vacation in Oct 08...........................
Posted: 8/25/2008 1:20:18 PM
Ok, so I have 2 weeks vacation time to book.
Not on a restricted budget......fancy the US again but open to any suggestions...

I love Cities or beaches, active (no climbing or hiking though! ) and pretty laid back about trying anything (almost anything!)
I'm planning that the trip will be just me, so would rather end up somewhere with lots of people around and somewhere where I won't stand out as a single too much - not a Sandals resort type of holiday!

As I've been there before was think Vegas, but 2 weeks seems like a lot, so maybe a 2 stopper...Vegas and..? I can drive car or bike, but prefer the car option if I need one.

Just wondering if you wonderful guys on POF are up for suggestions before I commit £2000 to this and think, bloody hell I should of asked those guys firrst!

Thanks

when is the best time to kiss a girl on the first date
Posted: 8/25/2008 10:34:47 AM
It honestly will depend on the chemistry and if I feel comfortable with a guy. For me, if you're moving from one place to another on the date (bar to bar), then when coming out the first place (and only you'll know if it feels right at the time), I like that he's gonna kiss me - maybe not a full on lustful affair, but a kiss on the lips, then more chat, and by the end of the night you've already had some kind of kiss and you'll know how far to take it by then. Kissing full on, at the end of the first date is fine by me if we both want it, but then I'm not your date!
Good luck

What makes a woman over 40 sexy?
Posted: 8/24/2008 6:38:45 PM
Thanks mikedanger ....nice thing to say.
It's worth sharing - I'm approached a lot these days by younger guys when I'm out (guys in their mid to late twenties), who tell me they love the idea of finding an experienced woman in her late 30's/early 40's. It happens a lot!
My answer is I know exactly what I'll be bringing to your party, but sadly I've already experienced what you're bringing to mine!...

The defence rests.

Pretending to be a widow/widower
Posted: 8/24/2008 6:15:48 PM
I was absolutely horrified to hear someone would put this on their profile to attract attention and for a line. I identified my partner's body after a bike crash. Loss of any kind of someone you loved with all your heart is so difficult to get over, and someone who fakes it, is one f**ked up individual.
Hopefully, he'll reap what he sows....

Odd Little Things The Opposite Sex Does You Find Sexy or Attracts You
Posted: 8/24/2008 4:03:01 PM
I loved wearing his shirts. The white ones. They were too big, and leaving them unbuttoned at the top, and some at the bottom....and watching his face....
Sitting on the edge of the bed, wrapped in a towel, painting my nails, then look up and he's was watching and smiling. For no reason....
Watching him dress. Jeans on but asking him to leave the top button open, no shirt yet....ohhh
Whilst chatting, sitting on the couch, twisting my hair around my fingers...then putting the tip of my finger slowly into my mouth....smiling, watching him lose concentration. Kissing him till his lips tingled.....

Oh man......

I think when she's confident in herself, happy in own skin, and will have not only enjoyed lots of different experiences, but learned from some of the mistakes, and become a better, stronger person.

Alternatively, it's probably cus she's a a great sh*g!

Well I gotta tell ya. For me a bald guy (or very closely shaven) that also has a close shaven goatee is absolutely THE hotest thing!!! it's just a personal choice. All my other girlfriends think it's yuk! but it floats my boat and sails me away......especially when he's 6' plus....oh sigh.....

My last boyfriend passed away sends them running...
Posted: 8/23/2008 2:28:28 PM
Well, I've decided to dip my toe in the shallow pool of dating again and this site is a first place to start. My partner died last year in a motorbike crash on his way home from work. 1 minute there waving at me in traffic. Then gone. It knocks you sideways and I just couldn't see how I would recover. But I did.
And I decided that I wouldn't automatically tell a new date straight away what the circumstances were of why I was single. I've got round it when people ask me, by simply saying it wasn't mean to be, it just didn't work out, and then asking them a question, which is great for deflecting the spotlight for a moment. There's no lying, or awkward pauses after my answers and you can just move on with the date.....I can't tell you what's gonna work for you, but this has worked for me! And if you see more of them, there'll be time to talk about it when you know more about each other...and hopefully they'll understand why.

PART II Question-GOING TO ALASKA TO MEET A GUY
Posted: 8/23/2008 1:34:35 PM
And just to add my £5 worth - take the brother!!!!
I have seriously thought of venturing to Alaska - be great to meet some guy from there. Worst to happen would be seeing stunning scenery. Romantic...but rather scary meeting anyone you met on the net, so the brother doing his own thing, and giving you space to do yours is the perfect solution...

Sadly..for me, no brother. Sigh.
Tell us how it goes/went. We're all dying to know!

perfect peace, perfect silence
helps camouflage the perfect violence
taking cover, taking aim
you tell me how it won't happen again

avoiding others avoiding you
spending a lifetime with a limited view
passing time passing up chances
avoiding other's worried glances

breaking up breaking me
I found the strength that sets me free
Taking time, taking cruises
No more make-up covered bruises

The Great Virtue Sitting Parlor and Greasy Spoon

You're welcome Wooby..
And ironic you said you do remember, you do.
That was the title I gave the first poem I wrote for my lost love....
and if a rhyming verse grates on you teeth, please grit them now!

Morning breath like ice cream soda
Sleepy head upon your shoulder
Alarm that splits us two apart
Another day for us to start

I feel you still, so very near
Disengaging all my fear
Can hear those words you always say
I love you Milly. Every day

And then I find you back with me
My eyes are closed but I can see
A pretty picture just us two
There’s only me. There’s only you

You standing close, my arm in yours,
Leaning in you take a pause,
Speaking slowly of your plans
Hold my face within your hands

Sealing words with softest kisses
Teasing names like Mr and Mrs
It’s all we ever want to be
I’m half of you. You’re half of me

Then jolted back to present time
Your hands of course don’t comfort mine
Nor touch me softly, break my fall
Never once, no not at all

I hear your sounds once in a while
And feel my mouth begin to smile
Remember too that softest touch
I love you still so very much

I love your hands, I love your face
Though slowly sorrow wins that race
And grief becomes more amplified
As I recall that you have died.

So I'm new to this thread but have sat enthralled and loved reading all the stuff.
Not sure this will live up to what's gone before and it was written with heavy heart. But light at the end of that tunnel is beckoning....Enjoy. And I'm sure if you don't you'll yell at the Limey invader!...

Now its reel reel reel
when im fishing
And im having the time of my life
So why isn’t ever that easy
When we fish for a husband or wife?

Now it’s bait bait bait
as im fishing
And putting the worm on the end
But the stress of typing a message…….
JUST DO IT, & FOR GOD’s SAKE PRESS SEND!!

Now it’s hook hook hook
as im fishing
And putting the catch in a net
But why does the heart beat so swiftly
As I check if you’ve answered me yet?…

Now its cook cook cook after fishing
And laying the catch on the plate
On seconds thought. You can keep marriage
I’m single and staying out late…….
