What Democracy is that? a cross on a ballot paper every four years? Lies and deceit? Oh yes, thats right a democracy is one that goes to war on a so called peice of bad information, a rumour, and then after countless deaths and the demolision of an infrastucture, spending millions to destroy a country and billions to build it up again, whilst trying to bring together different groups, and allowing loss of life in the meantime, if we had gone in and removed a dictator, which would have been plausable, yes, but to basically demolish a country, and then, talk about the different reasons, was it weapons of mass destruction, oh, no its akready been established that they were none, Was it to free the people of tyranny, oh no, we already established the deeds in question were way in the past and other dictators recently were more, in line for reprimanding, was it to bring the Iraq,s peace, er, tell that to the countless women and kids who are suffering, or was it cos of recriminations for 9?11 er thought that was another country altogether, what exactly are we doing there? democracy?? i think not!

Thats a wee bit negative, in my view, why have wishes, if they can never come true, why be hopeful, if lifes crap anyway, why expect the best in life if the worst is bound to happen....... if you want to feel like that, then hey, so you will, but surely, we have to have hope to wards the things that we feel would make us happier, rather than give up, you can....im not though!

Jo. personally I think that your not waking up with a smile cos your not happy with yourself, and that your unselfish wish for others is always a good start, but, why are you not happy with yourself? Why are you waking up without a smile? Surely its not cos you have no "mr right" Lots of us dont, but, we have plenty to make us smile anyway, Im not saying that I want to meet someone to make me smile or happier, Im very happy anyway, just be nice to share the love with another, hope not to send condescending in any way, but, if your not happy with you, how are you going to attract someone, you cant love another till you love yourself, do tell me if Ive got it wrong, and nergal, sunshine, in my view, is something that we know, will be shining on us, soon, YES?

Im hoping for everything i never had in life to date......sad but true, a good guy.
In 2005 i got satisfaction in my own way, by concentrating on others needs instead of my own, something, I may have been subconsciously doing for ever, as ive never really had a "good guy" even though im not biased, and would never say that there is none, i just havent met one yet!

As this year draws to an end, and our minds turn to the new year, what are you hoping for?
Apart from the international hopes, of an end to world hunger/poverty/wars.
which go without saying for most.
Personally, (Idont mean new years resolutions as we can to an extent control these)
I hope that, noone close has bad health, and is happier than they dreamed they would be.
And because ive spent 2005 basically, on a mission to help others who have are less fortunate, in one way or another, Im hoping that 2006 will bring me something that im ready for 100%, a good guy, who I can relax and be happy with for the rest of my life, not too much to ask, eh!
What about you?

According to United press international, overheads from $590 million UN fund spent 1/3rd on the money collected for the tsunami funds on administration costs and staff, and the katrina appeal has seen $39million on government employees credit cards, for relief items such as $5,374 for a paper shredder, $3,200 for golf carts, $1.461.42 for a portable printer, $1,461.42 for a laser printer, $1,461.42 for a wireless point, a senator is looking into whether anyone has used the cards for holiday shopping....from a disaster relief fund! How mean, can some folks get, I was so upset at the boxing day tsunami, that I spent 3/4 of last year putting together an album with 15 local bands , to help buy fishing equipment for a village in Talay Nork, it cost me even more money, in numerous ways, that I put out of my own pocket,
even though Im struggling to make ends meet, I have had the whole venture overlooked by a local businessman, and sponsered by the local business community, why oh why, if i can manage it, cant people be less greedy, and especially those who are a lot better off than myself, it truly makes my blood boil.

Or maybe its time we realised that the state education is not going to do this as they like to make the businessman better off by letting the lemmings carry on so therefor its up to us as parents to teach them

I think its sad that we have a society that has to wear certain clothes to be accepted by peers, when the person who wears the clothes has to become like everyone else just to feel a part of an approved society, whats wrong with individualism, maybe we should steer our kids in tha direction, instead, and i mean all parents, not one in particular.

For the last time, noone has critisized your son, show me where, I said that that Im lucky, that my kids dont moan at me for expensive gifts, and that we should show them more love instead of buying them everything they want, this thread was about the cost of presents, how much is reasonable, noone, has said a word about your son.you said all teenagers are like this, and i said there not, mine are not, so why are you getting annoyed about your son, i never said anything to critisize anyones kids!

Exactly, about spending, and that he wanted some designer item, not all kids are like that, get it.
If you can generalise and say all kids are like that, then i can say, no actually there not, if that makes you think that im having a go at your son, your wrong, im just stating a case that not all teenagers behave like that.

I have not critisized anyones kids, just praised my own, Im not making out anything, if you write a thread saying your kids throwing a tantrum, cos he cant have what someone else has, thats up to you, i just dont think you can generalise that all kids are like that, cos there not, if that offends you, so be it.

well said, Jo, thats my point, my kids are happy, that we are a happy family, and it would be out of character for them to have a tantrum about not getting something cos someone else had it, if this makes them angels, then they must be.
We,ve been through some harrowing times, and learnt to appreciate each other more, so im proud to say that my kids are good, and if that makes them rare, so be it, but i doubt it.

I have a few but one I distinctly remember, (cringe)was when I was at an open air concert in a big park in liverpool, the toilets were situated at the bottom of the hill that held thousands of onlookers, you know, those porta loo boxes, anyway, the lock was broken and I had to pee whilst trying to hold the door shut, halfway through, a gang of little boys all pulled the door open, and I was left to stare at thousands of people all laughing at me on the loo, ooh little sods!
So whats yours?

I think that I will stick to a bottle of wine, thanks pgooperman, because its less fattening, and good for the heart, ( I think!) and I resolve to only have a drink on a saturday night, which means i can save the extra pennies for a summer holiday, I stopped smoking on new years eve 3 yrs ago, and I still dont, so i know I will have set my mind on it, enough to accomplice my new goal, good luck with everyone elses too.
I will be unashamedly rat a***d on new years eve though, even if I am alone!

Well, have to disagree here Im afraid, not all teenagers are like that, I have a 16 yr old son and a 12 yr old son, and theyre both the nicest kids, polite. respsective of others, friendly, appreciative of anything they get, aware of the situations of others less fortunate, and both happy to give as well as recieve, I dont think you can say all teenagers, and generalise, like that, mine certainly are not.

Good Thread
It seems like xmas is getting way too commercial, some people on low incomes get themselves into debt for the whole of the following year, just to make sure that there kids have all they want, I think its time we started to downsize the whole idea thta everyone can afford all those very expensive toys that are thrown at us via the tv sets every year,it doesnt really make for better kids, it just teaches them that they are right to expect the best of everything, regardless of the consequences for the family, income or ability to provide, I think a few pressies, cds, dvds, choc,s clothes, or give them £100 to spend as they will. is a good idea, seems the less they have the more they appreciate anyway, you only have to look at the face of a child in a deprived country whos given a small gift to see that,we should stop spoiling with expensive gifts and showing our kids more love, talk to them more, and tell them we love them more, and we will see happier kids, than those with designer labels, just my two pennorth worth.

Personally, in my opinion, noone has a better picture than anyone else, different strokes for different folks, everyone on here has good qualities, and everyones look appeals to different types of people, I just think we should look into whats inside the person, rather than how they look, cos time will change looks, and we are all beautiful in our own way.
Some very attractive people may be not so attractive inside, peace out to all

Once they had been freed, the woman gave the men eight coins as a payment.
What is the fairest method of dividing the eight coins?

with all due respect, when the three ringed circus involves the mods, does that mean that you can or cant report someone? Maybe the admin and the moderators could get together and explain abit more for the likes of me, who dont really understand, what this is saying.
Sorry does this mean you should or shouldnt report anyone, if the forum moderators are involved with the thread? or that you should report if the moderators are not involved, or that you should never report anything, otherwise you get deleted, sorry if Im missing the obvious here.
