A man was riding his Harley along a California beach when suddenly the sky cleared above his head and, in a booming voice, the Lord said, 'Because you have tried to be faithful to me in all ways, I will grant you one wish.' The biker pulled over and said, 'Build a bridge to Hawaii so I can ride over anytime I want.' The Lord said, 'Your request is materialistic, think of the enormous challenges for that kind of undertaking; the supports required reaching the bottom of the Pacific and the concrete and steel it would take! It will nearly exhaust several natural resources. I can do it, but it is hard for me to justify your desire for worldly things. Take a little more time and think of something that could possibly help mankind.' The biker thought about it for a long time. Finally, he said, 'Lord, I wish that I and all men could understand women; I want to know how she feels inside, what she's thinking when she gives me the silent treatment, why she cries, what she means when she says nothing's wrong, why she snaps and complains when I try to help, and how I can make a woman truly happy.' The Lord replied - 'You want two lanes or four lanes on that bridge?'

So, from your experience, what is that “multiple times” average and what have the latest and earliest numbers been before you have a sexual relationship with a mutually attracted woman? And again, from your experience, how many, on average, is too many dates to wait for that to happen? How many dates is too many? If there is a mutual attraction, maturity and respect between two people dating; why it could happen before even the first date!

Bingo! You're right on the money. Any time you both have to have the "exclusive" talk, someone is just trying to control the other. If it's real, there's no need to set rules like that. The natural reaction is to let go of those other relationships. First and foremost dating is just that .....dating! When someone is trying to control the agenda, only to be sure the guy(or guys) is only dating her.... while she has three or four (or how many other) men dating only her... It seems would not that be a self esteem issue, control issue or a narcissistic type behavior? That causes me pause. It seems that a woman (or man) looking for that kind of "attention" and needs "total focus" on them and control might just have abandonment issues ..... Personally, I just smile and say ..."this does not work for me, best of luck in your searching".

1. Decided to meet a woman , seemingly a nice girl professional girl that I met online. After many long distance phone calls etc., We made plan to meet in Phx between San Antonio and Los Angeles and see the Grand Canyon. We had lunch and after watching her "guzzle" 5 bloody mary's (which seemed a tad bit much at lunch on a Friday) we continued toward the grand Canyon. The capper of the first hours of this date was stopping at the gas station to fill the tank and she bought a 1.5 liter of Vodka and Fresca to drink in the car while we were driving. It went downhill from there. I had a visual of being pulled over in Arizona with a buxum blond with an open container in the car. The weekend ended with caution. 2. Internet meeting, she worked at a locksmith near me. We met for lunch and since I needed keys made she cut an american flag key for me (post 911). I noticed she had no front teeth or molars and one canine (mind you a casual glimpse - unlike horses when you actually look at their teeth). I asked about where she was living, she said the back room of the locksmith shop. He boyfriend set her up there since he was married and she still was dating him. The shop had no hot water, let alone a shower. The date ended quickly. 3. Met a younger woman for a quick meet and greet at a local fast food restaurant near her home (she suggested it - a dead giveaway). She arrived with her 4 month old baby and breastfed the baby while we were trying to chat. She also told me she was on birth control if I was wanting to "dip my wick". I walked her to her car and smiled, wished her the best.

Meet and greet is one thing ...that is easy a cup of coffee and maybe a muffin (walnut or blueberry) I can see a woman being able to go out three or four times a week (friday saturday sunday and a week night) . The issue for me is that the few were also very insistent / demanding for dinner or lunch not a coffee meet and greet. Ssad to say that these guys are spending $$$$ while believing that they are only dating them.... Financial Impact: Minimum $30.00 a date x 4 days = $120. week...x 4 weeks = $480. month x 12 months = $5760. a year.... Average salary for a career type guy $70,000 a year = almost 9% of their salary...to dating women who don't have a real desire to spend time with them.... NOTE: I wonder if these are the same guys who get emails from 20 something girls from africa,thailand,russia and have fallen in love and need money to get to the US to meet them? Maybe, It is where I live at the beach and my lifestyle that I seem to have met many shysters and game players and not the real gals out there with substance...

I am loving this topic ... To clarify my position; Yes I date a few (several) women until I meet someone that moves me to making the decision to date only her. Here at POF, I have met more than a handful who have stated they don't go out with a man, unless he is committed to and only dating her.... and then when asked the question in reverse, they have all stated.... that they themselves date a few times a week different guys, until they find the one to date exclusively. It seems that the double standard is occurring here online everyday. Most of the women I have chatted with tell me they prefer going out with a guy that will only dating them, while these same women seem to be dating three or four times a week (several guys)! Has this been an ongoing issue for men here? How about for you women? Just wondering, if there is some logic to this quandary or double standard?

Dating inter racially has become more common place in this generation, especially in the larger urban cities. In 1960, my uncle married a woman from England. She had a young daughter who was Italian / English, they had the toughest times going out in public and this was in Los Angeles. My cousin (the daughter) and I attended the same high school (1970's) and no one would believe that we were cousins (albeit through marriage) even when we had the same classes, since she was pale and I was darker. Things have changed, slowly and for the good. Lastly, my preference is the girl next door..maybe I watched too many Doris Day movies back in the 60's and 70's ..smile.
