Pandemic swine flu-someting to ponder or NOT
Posted: 11/3/2009 9:12:15 AM
I think the real winners against swing flu are the people who make those little hand sanitizer things. You see them everywhere now; on the walls, by the stairs and elevators, on every cabinet corner in every office building.

quitting smoking

My grandma was a 2 or 3-pack-a-day smoker for nearly 50 years and quit cold turkey when she realized it was making her grandkids sick. It's been over 10 years since her last cigarette.

Theatre Anyone?
Posted: 9/21/2009 12:06:07 AM
I've had season tickets to MTC for 11 years now, and Warehouse and WSO for the past 3.

Last year, Scorched was by far my favourite (and I would say one of the best I've seen). I hated Medea though, but I think it was more the subject matter than the actors/actresses that I didn't like.

Worth a thousand words?

Maybe...
- they don't have many pictures to work with
- they are technologically impaired
- the pof resizing pixelated their picture
- they figure the blurriness makes them look better/thinner

Grr, I haven't made it out to any of the music at the Assiniboine Park this year. I keep meaning to, but stuff keeps popping up.

Favourites and Last 5 Posts

Seeing someone with a large number of favourites can be discouraging. On the other hand, the only different I see this making is that the popular/pretty people will get even more messages and the rest will see no change.

Dating & The Recession - Any Casualities Out There?

I always thought a classy date was treating your girl to full service at the gas station (while mocking the proles), then getting a sit down meal instead of drive through.

Sometimes turning your computer onto its side can extend the life of your fan for a bit (so the rotation axis is vertical). It's not a guaranteed fix by any means though. More like a hack solution that handy in the short run... sometimes.

Ukraine - Kyiv: solid show as always, awesome perogies (I'm not even going to try and spell it the proper way... there's a few v's and y's in there)

Alpine: Sadly, their yodeler is out sick, but it's still a fun pavilion. Overall the food and dancing is just ok, but there's such a happy energy through the whole show and lots of audience participation.

The Philippine one was fun. Very large and well choreographed show, cute kids doing the martial arts schtick, and some of the older dancers goofed around during the dances which added a great bit of humour to the show.

Hope to catch another couple pavilions tonight.

Ukraine - Lviv: I was kinda disappointed with this one. I know it's not as big a show as the other Ukraine one, but it still felt lackluster. They really needed to turn the sound up. Food is still great though, and probably one of the cheapest of any pavilion.

Hungarian: Good show, high energy dancing, especially from the men. Cute kids in the junior dance team (can't believe some of them are as young as 2 years old!). Food was pretty good, but a bit pricier.

Israel: An excellent pavilion as always. Friendly tour guides for the cultural displays, good music and dancing. Not quite as good as last year (or was that two years ago when they brought in a big dance troupe?).

I've heard the Korean and Colombian pavilions are good, but I haven't seen them yet. Heard the Caribbean wasn't so good this year, nor Belgian (except I go to that one for the food anyways).

I saw the Dungeons and Dragons one today, which was pretty funny. I'll likely go back later this week to see how the adventure unfolds (since each show is a continuation of the last).

I was in the line for Alter Boys tonight, but it sold out by the time I got to the front. It's gotten good reviews and has been consistently selling out, so line up early if you want to see it.

Sorry, I just didn't find it funny at all. Maybe the sarcasm just wasn't thick enough; I thought you were serious for the first paragraph.

Your main pic isn't bad, though it could be a little brighter. Kill the pic with you hanging off the ladies. Get rid of the billiards pic as well. Pictures should show your face, not the top of your head.

There's also too many people having kids who don't know how to be parents- youth and adult.

That's really the crux of the problem right there.

Now if you're excuse me, I think I'll go rent Gattaca now...

Favourite restaurants in Winnipeg?
Posted: 6/15/2009 10:17:04 PM

this place at the end of Banatyne... toward s the river .. It's a dead end road .. ending in a parking lot and the Mexican place is right there on the South side..
Are you talking about Don Pedro's on Market? I've been there a couple times, decent place. A step or two up from Carlos & Murphy's

For a big greasy burger, I like:
Blondie's
Original George's Burgers & Subs on St. Mary's (the other locations aren't as good)
Albert Street Burgers

Annoying habits/deal breakers and deal makers
Posted: 6/5/2009 10:28:30 PM
The very first girl I met on pof, I invited her out to a dance. She didn't want to go alone and wanted to bring a friend, which was fine. Turns out that "friend" was a date from pof.

That was kind of a deal breaker for me
