Spelling and Grammar, does it count?
Posted: 8/21/2009 1:12:56 AM
Another thing.
And this really drives me batty sometimes, because it's really such a simple thing.
At least, it is to me.

They're/Their/There
Our/Are
Your/You're
A lot (contrary to what you think, it is in fact two words )

Spelling and Grammar, does it count?

I didn't read past the second reply, so forgive me if someone has already mentioned this.

To me, a lack of proper spelling and grammar, makes me wonder how much this person truly cares about how they present themselves. I understand if perhaps they have a learning disability, but if they are of sound and solid mind, there's truly no excuse for poor spelling/grammar/punctuation.

It also makes me wonder as to what other things in life they might slack off on.

Spelling, in this day and age, is so easy to check and correct.
What with spell check, and Google right at your fingertips, there's really no excuse.

However typos are understandable, if it's a random missing 'S' when pluralizing, or an obvious slip of the fingers on the keyboard.

9 times out of 10, I'll double check ANYTHING I type out and send.
I care about how I present myself, and the way my words appear to others, matter greatly.
Sometimes I re-read so many times, that I still miss the simplest of mistakes, and later to a /facepalm like movement

This being said, I'm sure I've made a typo somewhere lol.

I want to hide from the world
Posted: 8/19/2009 2:41:19 AM
I take my dog to the park.
He's been really sick lately, his days our numbered, I fear.
But I take him to the park near my house, and we just lay under his favourite tree.
We listen to the locals play tennis, and the kids on the swings and trolleys.

It's quite peaceful.

I also resort to curling into bed, closing my door, and putting on a movie.

Or I put my iPod on to some music that fits my mood, and simply block out the world.

SO many different way to withdraw and be alone, without having to actually remove yourself from people and places.

If you were to date a dog, what type of dog would it be and why ???
Posted: 7/14/2009 4:48:50 AM
A Border Collie.

Intelligent beyond words.
Hard working (Helps out around the house/chores)
High energy.
Great with children and other animals.
Loyal. (As are most dogs, but I've never come across a dog more loyal than the one I just lost, and he was a Border Collie x Aussie Blue Heeler)
Known for having fairly long lives.
Beautiful.
Protective and have a hidden viciousness that only pops out when provoked.
Very affectionate.

Choking during sex
Posted: 7/10/2009 10:40:04 PM
I'm not a fan of full on choking, though I do enjoy (sometimes) the feeling of a mans hand clasped around my throat.

Note how I say clasped, though, and not choking. I guess I could compare it more to how you would firmly hold someones arm.. I like the slight pressure, and the warmth of his hand, but I've never had anyone fully grip my neck tightly to the point where breathing became harder.

I'd prefer to write like neither President, thanks =]

And I'm far from being without humour.
My previous profile was nothing but, nearly.

We're wearing sunglasses because we are outside, we are working, and we're a little windswept because we're watching a Tornado form about 18km's from where we were standing.

If someone thinks that when I say "simple", I'm referring to myself as a ditzy bimbo who locks herself in a car, then let them think that, and continue on to the next profile. I'm not looking for people to make assumptions based on words.

I guess I can understand how some fragmented sentences, or random words, might confuse someone or throw them off... if the profile is read quickly in one giant breath.

When I read it to myself, with personality and humour, it seems just fine.

I made the words that highlight a few things about myself bold, so they would stand out a little more.

I put "Must Love Dogs" in there, because that's a quality I like in people. Continue reading the following line: "I know it's a cheesy movie title, but it's true". Put the 2 "partial sentences" together, if one can, and you'll see I'm saying "I prefer people that love dogs"... it's not rocket science, darling =]

I'm not on here looking to win the next Pulitzer, nor am I looking to score an A+ on an essay. I'm putting my personality into a box, therefor I'll write in a way that best captures myself. I don't speak as if I'm running for office or applying for C.E.O at Trump Industries. If I didn't add a little character, randomness, or humour to my profile, it would be boring as hell. Don't you agree?

And the point of the profile is to peak someones interest, is it not?
Not put them to sleep =]

How is what you've said, meant to be taken as advice?

You're implying that a photo I have on my profile is suggesting I'm into threesomes.

That's not advice.
That's an assumption.

I'm looking for honest, respectful, and mature feedback.
If you feel you are unable to meet these rather simple requirements,
I'll simply ask you to find another thread to post in.

One that might be better suited for your sort of 'advice'

When I'd log on to POF and have about 5 messages a day.

Now I'm lucky if I get one a month. Haha not really complaining, I don't log on here much anymore. But I'm just wondering... does my profile shout out something about myself that I'm not hearing?

It may have been a little... harsh.. before. I put a lot of sarcasm into it (Sadly I'm a very sarcastic person). But I softened it up a little today. Hopefully it's a little friendlier now?

Or maybe my pictures aren't working in my favour? I don't know.
HELP ME, POF, HELLLPPP . Haha =]

Recommend me a Tattoo Artist!
Posted: 5/20/2009 2:23:11 PM

The Dutchman in New West. He's done Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Jon Bon Jovi and a ton of others. He's known worldwide.

Definitely. All my friends with tattoos have gone to him, swear by him, and will only ever go to him. I had a friend fly in from Montreal to get his to do his tattoo. The guy is a god with a gun.

I sadly got mine done by a friend in Saskatchewan, then had it professionally touched up last summer. I wish I had put more thought into it, waited, and gone to the Dutch =[

Wait, did I miss something? Or did you not really bring it up?

She's cheated already, and you'd only been together 2 months?

Oh brother.
And she has the audacity to bring up your ex? Or are you still hung up on her?

Honestly, from the sounds of it, you realllly need to step on up and move on.

After reading your M/G convo, I jumped right to the reply button, so forgive me if I'm only repeating something that's been previously mentioned.

Why are you even wasting your time on this girl?
I haven't read your profile, so I don't know your age... but judging from that convo alone, I'd say she isn't a day over 20, and if she is.... oh lord.

What she's saying, basically, is that she'll settle for you...and that if something better comes along, she'll more than likely move on with it. Ouch.

Is that what you really want in your life? A childish game player?

Sounds like one of those "learn to love me" situations, and those are generally only in arranged marriages. Move on, buddy. Quickly.

The Lying Game
Posted: 1/22/2009 2:31:16 AM
I have to ask though... if your friend is telling you that they want to die, or have entertained the idea of suicide... are they not telling you because they're reaching out? Hoping that you'll do something with the information you've just received?

I know that, heaven forbid, if I ever felt truly suicidal, and didn't wish to face another tomorrow, I'd write my goodbye notes, and end it.

Telling someone is only their way of asking for help, without saying "Hey, help me please", because face it, not too many people see the signs until they're put right in their face, or too late.

Sooo I guess my answer would be, it's neither a lie or a false promise, if you do indeed go ahead and tell them "I promise", but more of a "I hear your cry, and I'm telling you, in the way that you want to hear it, that I hear you..and I'm gonna help"

Gosh did that make sense?

And in response to:

in this case i would say if i was any sort of friend, ofcourse i wont call the ambo's.... then ring em or get else to do so ...and then ask not for forgiveness. no friend in their right mind mind should do that to you OP

.....Could you call yourself a friend if you let them die?
I sure as hell couldn't.

And about your last few words...are you saying that a friend shouldn't speak openly to you about what they're feeling or going through? I'm not sure about the type of friends you have, or the type of friend you are to others... but in my books, that's what friends are for. To talk to. To ask for help, and give help to. A friendship is a relationship. Would you rather your significant other just go on and end their life, and not ever let you in on what they're going through? Come on.

Why is she not as guilty?
Posted: 1/22/2009 2:17:52 AM
Random forum browsing lead me to the land of Australian poffers.... so, hi =)

It's my opinion, or feeling, that unless she did something to try to help the victims,
or was forced by violence or threats of violence by her partner in crime,
she's just as guilty as the man. Not having a physical hand in the harming of a person,
and the killing of a tiny helpless animal, doesn't make her any less guilty of the crime.

I'd lay the same charges on her as what was given to the man.

Even better, I'd tape them both to a tree and watch them suffocate.

I have no compassion for anyone that hurts an animal.
Not to say that I can shrug off what they do to that poor woman,
I just think it's ill that someone can torture and kill something that's so
innocent and helpless.

Save the tree

It's easier to save a tree, than to pick a solitary person, out of many, to help.

How do you go through the list of people in need of medical or financial attention, and pick out who's more deserving then the rest, and say "Hey, this ONE person should get our support, and we'll just..erm.. let the rest wait it out"

?

I love that old tree, anyways.

What have you asked an ex to return to you following a break-up?
Posted: 1/21/2009 5:05:35 AM
Oh man.... My ex has ALL of my stuff, basically, except for my current clothes, my computer, my camera, and my iPod.

We lived together for nearly 4 years, and when I left him, we weren't currently in the city we 'lived' in, so I pretty much left with whatever I had with me at the time.

I've tried for a year to get my: Clothes. Dishes. Furniture. My diaries (Yes, believe it or not... I left all 4 of my teenage diaries in a box in our storage locker) My highshcool annuals, stuff of my mom's I was holding on to.. gosh, the list goes on.

The Blowers Daughter; one of my fave songs.

As well as Ron Hines. Local singer/songwriter from Newfoundland. Wrote "Sonny's Dream".

Tears, because of the realization that Americans are now finally showing that they're no longer afraid of change, and that theres hope for a better tomorrow.

I don't think people were crying because they were so in like with Obama and were overjoyed with his election, I think it was more or less a sense of WOW. This is happening. "Yes We Can"

<< Canadian.

I watched Oprah today, and got caught up in all the Obama Mama hype.
I wasn't following the Presidential Election from start to finish, but I watched enough and heard enough to know clearly who my choice was.

I didn't like McCain from the start. Not on a personal level, but more so on ..a vibe? I don't know. I usually go with my gut and vibes I get from folks, and 9 times out of 10 I'm bang on.
But Obama...ohhhh he captured my heart and attention from the start. I was doubtful that America would do the "right" thing by voting for him.. and I have to admit, I was leaning more towards Hillary than Obama, but felt both were ready and capable for the job.. Anyhoo.

Watching the announcement of the newly elected President of the United States... I felt that my faith in America had been restored. Ohh boy.. lemme tell ya. I don't follow politics as closely as I should, but I know that Americans have been making (in my opinion) some poor poor choices in the past when it came down to picking who runs things.

When I was watching Obama's speech, after the votes were in, I had the cheesiest grin on my face. And watching Rev. Jesse Jackson, and Oprah, with glistening eyes, I couldn't help but dab at my right eye a few times. (haha) I felt ..relieved? Hopeful? And for the first time ever, wanted to be American, to be a part of history. I think this is the first step, in many many years, towards a better tomorrow. Obama represents change, hope, and restores faith in Americans, and faith that Americans can achieve greatness when brought together as a whole, rather than, as he said "blue states and red states".

It's my thought that he'll give a sense of acceptance, of 'fitting in', to young minority children. They'll look at him and know that just because they aren't of a majority race or religion, they can still be who and what they want. Imagine, it wasn't that long ago when African American people couldn't even ride the bus, let alone vote. Now there's a black President. WOW. Good job, Americans.

I just pray he becomes the President we are all expecting him to be.
And I have faith =)

I apologize if my post is a little jumbled, I'm tired and typing through half shut eyes =p

I've only been Sand Duning once, and I was just under 10. I went with my mom.. annnd I'm pretty sure it was in Oregon. I'll google this after, to be sure. But I remember massive massive hills of nothing but sand. It made me feel like I was in the middle of the desert out in the Middle East or something out of a movie. It was gorgeous. I did, however, eat about twice my body weight in sand lol.

But this could also say I DO have a life. A life that includes movies, dvds, friends, popcorn, scary movies with cuddling, funny movies with girlfriends on a sunday night..... I don't know. To me, it seems the more you've seen, the more of a life you have. "Having a life" doesn't have to mean getting OUTSIDE =)

Music Confession!
Posted: 11/5/2008 12:42:12 AM
I confess that I attended ALL FIVE of the Backstreet Boys concerts that have been held here, one N*sync, one Ricky Martin, and alas, one New Kids on the Block. (Maybe that'll become 2, if I can find some poor ol' nostalgic girlfriend to go to the one in a few weeks with me..eek)

I'm not going to lie, or hide the kind of music I listen to. It's who I am. I breath music. It's my oxygen. You won't find me anywhere without one of my headphones plugged into my ear. Thank god for iPods, now my music goes everywhere with me.

Now, don't think the above mentioned are my genres of choice...dear lord no, those concerts were all attended by -Seraphim- 16 and under. lol.

Are women hesitant to contact musicians? If so, why?

I'd be more interested in connecting with a musician.
That's one of the things I look for in a man...a passion for music.

Drunken late night living room dance song
Posted: 11/5/2008 12:25:16 AM
I think my taste in music is sooo not on the same page as everyone else in this thread lol

I love turning up some good Armin Van Buuren tracks, or Tiesto.

If you don't know who they are.... they're Trance DJ's.
Though it's not my main music of choice, it's what I listen to when I feel that 'dance bone' kick me. Also it's what I enjoy listening to when I'm getting ready to go out with the girls. It's fun, upbeat, and happy. Like me =)

Erm.
So I checked my Internet Options... annnnd I couldnt' find cookies in the drop down list.
It went from ActiveX to Downloads.

It's not a big deal, I guess.. I won't be using this old computer forever, and there are still ways I can access my inbox. It's just a pain.

OS? I'm sorry, not sure what that is.
But I believe I'm working with IE 6. I can't install the newer version, nor can I use firefox, I need a newer version of windows. (I'm currently using Win ME)

I clear my cookies and temp files daily.
Annnd I don't know if the cookies are enabled.. I'll go check.

But now I'm craving cookies, thanks.

This site frusterates me. I'm using an older computer, but not so old that simple things that work on every other site I've browsed, shouldn't work on here.

For the last 2 weeks now, whenever I sign onto POF, the main page only seldom loads fully, and then once I get my sign in info put in and click "sign in", I'm brought to.. HALF of my inbox. The inbox page stops loading after the row of local users, and says "DONE". Not "Done with errors" as you would see if you had an internet or computer issue. ... erm.. is there something I'm doing wrong?? I've not somehow been suspended or anything that I don't know about, have I? This is the second time I've tried to make a thread in this forum about this now. The first one never showed up. So maybe I am banned.. I don't know. It's getting a little frusterating tho. I can reply to messages when I use my blackberry, just not when I'm directly on the computer. I'd consider it being a PC issue, if I wasn't fully able to run other applications that take up huge memory. I can run Photoshop, play movies, download programs, etc, but I can't get my inbox to load? //bangs head.

I apologize if this thread is similar to another, I've only gone through the most recent forum threads.

Irregardless? WTF?!?!?!?!
Posted: 10/29/2008 2:53:39 AM

4. People not understanding that Americans and Canadians have different spelling for some words and accuse the other of making a spelling mistake, as in 'color' vs 'colour', 'check' vs 'cheque'

Is "cheque" not spelled the same across the border? I just assumed that it referred to a payCHEQUE, as 'check' meant something completely different.

Hrmm.

I'm sleepy and didn't go through all 5 pages...

What about people that don't know how to say/spell 'SUPPOSEDLY'?
There is NO B in this word. Come on now.

And this one.
Maybe I'm not as intelligent as I think, but I'm fairly certain this is NOT a word.

Alls. ie: "Alls I'm saying is.."

HUH?! That drives me nuts.

I don't really pay attention to the cost of the Ferrys... it's never been an issue for me.
I'm lucky, I get to ride 'em for free =)
