Good Books?
Posted: 8/14/2009 12:03:39 PM
good books, hmmm seems to be a matter of opinion but here goes anyway.

some books/authors that i enjoy are

douglas preston & lincoln child - they write murder mysteries.
sue grafton - noted above
robin cook - noted above
stephen king - everyone knows his work
anne rice - again everyone knows her work
the gears - a husband and wife team who write historical fiction about the first nations people (people of the lakes, of the fire, of the wolf etc)

am currently reading jean m auel -5th book in the clan of the cave bear series
and t2 infiltrator by s m stirling

there is a lot more that i read but this is a small sample for now

have fun reading

Is Spelling Important?
Posted: 2/13/2009 2:34:21 PM
Yes, spelling is important. The mind can rearange the letters to put them in the correct order, but if you have the wrong letters in the word/s because you could not spell them the the mind won't know what the heck it is supposed to be reading.

Like some of the other posters, i can agree that typos happen and i am forgiving with them, as i make them myself. However, when they are constant i believe it shows a lack of respect for the people reading the post. just my opinion.

have a nice day and a great long weekend.

There is a new show that has just started called, Being Erica, that is not to bad of a show. This coming Monday will be the 3rd episode. I don't usually watch CBC either except for HNIC, so i was surprised to find myself tuning in to this program.
give it a watch, all you have is an hour to lose

if you were to create the greatest Hair Metal cd with 18 tracks, which artists would you select?
Posted: 2/16/2008 9:35:02 AM
Silver surfer, all good bands and some good songs but NOT hair metal bands

Hair metal bands for the most part wore spandex and wore a lot of make-up. agreed some did not wear much make-up if any but as a general rule they did

HAir Metal are essentially 80's glam metal bands.
AC/DC, Judas Priest, Aerosmith, ZZ Top & Nazareth just to name a few do NOT belong on this list.

Cinderella, Motely Crue, Poison, Ratt, Twisted Sister, W.A.S.P., Hanoi Rocks just to name a few all belong on the list

Posted: 7/11/2006 2:10:41 PM
has been single for many years and there are just as many pluses as minuses to being single in the summertime or anytime of the year for that matter
just have to fill the void with a ton of activities and lots of friends
that is the only way to get through whether you are single or not

happy fishing to all

Pronger wants out???
Posted: 6/28/2006 12:04:02 PM
i read in the sun, i think it was, that his wife did not like edmonton too much. she was also homesick for family and friends back in Missiouri and the shopping was not up to her standards either. but anyway you look at it, whatever the reason is that Pronger decides to leave we should all just let him leave and we can get on with the business of rebuilding the Oilers. And he can get on with his career where ever that may be.
we may end up losing and gaining a few more players by the time all the dust settles. right now it is a wait and see situation and all i gotta say look out next year! we will be contenders once again
my 2 cents

i would have to say that Lee Aaron has the best set of pipes in rock music. it is a shame that you being from the states have not heard of her, or should that be it is a shame she did not get promoted better to the stateside record buyers at any rate, in my opinion, she is the best... Tsorath mentioned a number of good bands as well... he did forget to mention that Cherie Currie was the lead singer for the runaways as well

Does your weight affect your sex life?!
Posted: 5/8/2006 2:28:19 PM
i have a bit of a belly which i am trying to get rid of. i don't think i look that bad but the women must think i do cause it's been a long time since i have gotten any.

i understand what you mean about letting go of your negative body image but unfortunately we live in a society that still judges you. and if i am gonna get lucky i have to change "her" opinion of my body image

that is my 2 cents,

Greatest Canadian Band!
Posted: 5/2/2006 9:48:42 AM
choosing the best is very subjective.
it is also indicative of the time you grew up as well, meaning what bands you listened to, what genre of music etc etc

back to the thread i would have to say Frank Marino and Domenic Troiano kick ass on guitar
in my humble opinion

Why Is Elvis Never On Classic Rock Radio?
Posted: 4/25/2006 11:51:21 AM
here in Edmonton we have a "classic rock" station that plays classics from about 67 t0 80
plus what they call new classics which is anything by tom cochran and the tragically hip that sort of thing

we also have a station that plays all the hits from the 70's and the 60's with a few from the 50's thrown into the mix once in a blue moon. these hits would be more along the lines of the monkees and the beegees and mostly softer rock and folk rock stuff

the station mentioned first plays more zep sabbath kiss styx queen etc

it doesn't matter where ya meet some people will criticize it, ie the bar, besides whereever it is 2 people meet the chances of them actually hitting it off and becoming a couple, i believe, are about the same

just my two cents

oh and by the way lame as it may sound honesty is always the best policy

so i guess for them a belt on a man anyway is a must

Disturbing.... Legal Age
Posted: 4/20/2006 9:14:49 AM
the subject of age and sex and drinking driving is and probably will be an ongoing topic of debate for years to come, with people arguning for both sides with i suppose valid reasons. everyone has their opinions and that is fine as long as everyone agrees to disagree

as an aside would be interesting to know at what age everyone here had sex for the first time, or drank alcohol for the first time or if you were going to the bar while still underage.

as for myself i looked to young so there ws no way i could get into the bar without and I.D. card and even then they checked it over real good before i was allowed to order
as for sex i am embarassed to say that i was much older than i ever thought i would be when it happened for the first time

if they would get some new ideas and maybe not cater so much to the younger generations they could possibly pull an audience
