Muscle wieghs more than Fat

What weighs more a lb of lead or a lb of feathers? Humm that's a tough one.
People a lb is a lb no matter what it is so muscle does not weight more than fat. Not today and not ever.
On the other hand muscle is denser and occupies less space than fat.

Is he trying to gain mass or lose the fat? You are right as you need to eat more to gain but he wants to lose his fat around the abs and that requires eating less.
You can eat a few hundred calories less or work them off or a combo.

Weight Loss Help, Supplements?

Losing any amount of weight involves creating a deficit in your calorie intake.
It starts in the kitchen as said here and a good workout program. I recommend P90X or something like it and eating clean.
Its not an overnight process but with dedication and consistency you will not only look better but be healthier.
here is a free ebook thats a good read http://fitbodynews.com/dloads/Skyrocket_Fat_Loss_and_Burn%20the%20Fat%20Feed%20the%20Muscle.pdf

Abs begin in the kitchen, eat clean and workout and it will come with time and patience.
No amount of ab work will get rid of the fat. You first have to determine your BMR and activity level to get your maintenance caloric need and then reduce that but about 500 calories.
To lose weight/fat you have to create a deficit.
I found some useful stuff in this eboo http://fitbodynews.com/dloads/Sample%20Fat%20Burning%20Workout.pdf or http://fitbodynews.com/dloads/Six%20Pack%20Abs%20Revealed.pdf

K I haven't done P90X yet but want to... I was thinking of buying it yesterday actually... I have lost almost 275 pounds in 2 years and am close to my goal but now I want to get there and become as perfect as I can... I dont want to gain more muscle rather tighten up and tone, I build muscle really easy... My trainer would love nothing more than for me to agree to train for shows lmao, but that would be in the future if i ever wanted to be a gross muscle girl...lmao. Instead I want to keep my curves and build more of a butt and tighten my arms some more and yummy and top of thighs where all girls hate haha.... any ways, do u guys think this program will work or should I stay with my 2 hours of cardio hour of yoga and 45 min of weights a day???
First of congrads on loosing 275 lbs in 2 years. That is a major feat and shows your dedication.
I am not a big fan of cardio but since you are not really trying to build muscle the cardio is ok.
I would say go for P90X but you will have to cut the cardio and anything else unless you eat more...
There is also their latest program called Insanity, take a look at it at www.fitbodynews.com
It might just be better for you than P90X if you are Insane enough to do it. It's a 60 day program.

Whole premises behind it is muscle confusion and I was doing that when I was into bodybuilding 20 years ago so yes concept is not new. I have done the workout and its a ball buster and in no way easy.
If anyone says its a peice of cake then they haven't done it.
But the key to fat loss is a combined from of diet and working out. Working out with poor diet = shity results...

I guess you have not seen my friend and he is 44 years old. You can use it for muscle mass if you keep reps under 8.
I would check out some of the people who have actually used it before stating its not good to put on muscle mass or weight.

James is right, if your workout routine is not working its not the routine its the diet.
You can work out all you want and you will not get much out of it if your diet sucks.
Clean your diet and make sure you track everything that you eat and the ratios and engage in a good routine and you will lose the fat. Ignore the diet and you might as well not even bother as you will be spinning your wheels.
If you down track what you eat you really have no clue how many calories you are really taking in.
Eat lean protein and lots of veggies and drink lots of water.
I am doing the P90X work out and I track my calories using myfitnesspal.com.
Eat too many calories above your TDEE total daily engery expenditure and you gain. Eating to low and you will gain weight also.

How much more does muscle weigh than fat?
Posted:
6/1/2009 7:23:47 PM
Losing weight is all about calorie defecit and what type of food you eat. Also if your body does not get enough calories it will go into starvation mode and you will gain weight. Starvation mode does not mean that you are hungry. You may be in it and not really know.
If trying to lose weight/fat you should never go below 1000 calories below your daily maintenance figure. Best to reduce your calories by 20-30% below TDEE either by eating less or working out and buring it. Best way is using both.
Does not matter how much muscle weight or density.
Never go by scale weight as you could lose 4 pounds fat and gained 4 pounds of muscle so scale change would be zero.

Little Inspiration For those trying to lose weight

Congrads on the amazing weight lose there. I think that motivation or lack of is what does most people in. There are some good online support groups that can help and you can workout with others.
Losing weight is not about diets or exercises but a lifestyle change. Eating right and getting the right protein/carb/fat ratio for your body is very important followed by exercise.
Losing weight is not about how many pounds you can lose but what kind, body portion between muscle and fat is very important.
There are lots of skinny fat people walking around. you can be skinny and have a high fat ratio.

recovery drinks

A recovery drink will have a carb to protein ratio of 4:1 so if you mde one with 20 grams of carbs you would have 5 grams of protein. It should also be highly available protein and simple carbs. I use one made by Beachbody which is great right after my workout.
There are some good proyein drinks and bars at fitbodynews.com

So hungry.

Actually the window ooportunity is after a workout and you should have a post-workout drink so that you can fuel your muscles. The ratio is $ to ! carbs to protiens and you can get that at most health food stores or can even make one yourself.
The first 1 to 3 hours are a good time to eat but you have to know what to eat.
Time and time again people fail not from exercising but what they eat and when.
80-90% of the battle will be what you eat. Eating 6 meals is also best versus eating 3 big meals. You also need to figure out how many calories you need gaily and reduce it by 300-500 by working out.
Women should not go below 1200 and men 1700 or you might put your body into starvation mode. Starvation mode does not translate to being hungry but more a stste where your body slows down the metabolism and hordes fat...

You think you know fitness and nutrition, but do u really???

Too much exercise can make you want to eat more so you're bound to eat too much and actually gain weight. Exercising more than 1 hour actually ages you and also increases your chances for cancer.
Can you please site some research on this as thats a new one for me... Losing weight/fat or gaining weight/muscle is more a lifestyle change then simply a diet or exercise program.
Most any diet program will work and as stated by others the reason they fail is because the person does not know how to maintain and goes back to old habits that got them fat...
Fats (good fats) Protein and Carbs have to also be in the right ration for the individual.

You can join from here fitbodynews,com/free.php just choose the free membership.
You will meet people from all walks of life trying to get in shape and change their lifes.
They have been a great help when I am feeling down and not wanting to workout. They will give you great advice on how to accomplish your goals.
Remember changing your body composition is not about how much you exercise or what latest diet you try, its a lifestyle change and 80-90% of your battle is what you eat, the rest is exercising.

Is it ok to work out twice a day?
Posted:
5/19/2009 4:08:57 PM
Anyone trying to get back in shape, lose weight, gain muscle has to understand that dieting in it's normal context is not the way to go neither is exercising. You can exercise all you want and not see any progress because you are not fueling your body what it needs.
80- 90% of the battle will be your diet or what kind of foods you eat and when the comes exercise. You need to first figure out how many calories you need for the goal you want to achieve. You also need to eat the right ratios of proteins, fats and carbs.
You also need to be held accountable and be consistent in your endeavors. I find that joining an online group like Beachbody is great as you can log all your workouts and be accountable plus everyday they give away great prizes to one random person that logs their workout. Talk about motivation. Its free to join at fitbodynews.com/free.php
It’s all about taking control of your life and making a lifestyle change.

trying to lose weight, any help appreciated :D
Posted:

I believe that 90% of the equation is diet and that can stop your progress. You also need to figure out exactly how many calories you need and the correct ratios of protiens/carbs/fats. If you email me I can give you how many calories you need.
I would suggest using a 40/30/30 protien/Carbs/fats approach and monitor what you eat using a free site like myfitnesspal.com to log what you eat.
Doing that allows you to monitor and make adjustments.
Also accountability is key to succeeding and I recommend joiningg an online support group. I joined Beachbody and its great. I can login my workouts and get help from others. Its free and you can signup from fitbodynews.com/free.php
Also be careful when going on high protien diets as excess protien can be converted into glucose which can then be turned into fat if its not being burned. You really don't need to take more than 1 gram of protien per lb of body weight.
Losing 2 lbs a week is good but the problem is that you won't be able to keep it consistant so losing 80 lbs in 8 months may not be a realistic goal. Also what are you losing? There are a lot of skinny fat people walking around.
You need to figure out what your body fat is versus lean muscle. Remember muscle burns fat.
Hope this helps.

Knee problems are a big pain. I also had a tear in my meniscus and decide to opt for rehab but 16 years later and throughout that time I have been able to do squats etc but you have to be careful and not over do it. My problem is that I have no lateral support so pretty much most sports are out of the question for me. If I had to do it over I woul dhave done the surgery.

Twinkle,
If you are working out 4-6 times a week and not seeing much in the form of results you are either not working out hard or your diet is not good.
90% of the equation is diet and that can stop your progress. You also need to figure out exactly how many calories you need and the correct ratios of protiens/carbs/fats

I have pretty much stopped going to gym and prefer doing my P90X workouts at home. Its not for everyone as its one tough workout but if your diet is 100% and you bring it everyday you will see results.
Also accountability is key to succeeding and I recommend joing an online support group. I joined Beachbody and its great. I can login my workouts and get help from others. Its free and you can signup from fitbodynews.com/free.php

I agree with the whole accountability thing and that was the main reason I joined Beachbody and joined there online forum where you get great support and you have an online calender to log your workouts and the best thing is that every day they pick one person who has logged a workout on WoWy and the prize can be from $100 to $1000 or another prize. Talk about motivation.
Also your diet is 90% of the battle and they give you great advice on nutrition.

Babygirl2275,
You are right in the sense that diets usually fail as most will not stay on them once they reach their goal but I do feel that you have to eat clean and make better choices of foods that you put in your body.
Coming from a bodybuilding background and being used to working out 6 days a week at the gym for 2 hours I never thought that you could get a good workout from any DVD program until my friend let me borrow his P90X workout and it kicked my behind so now I only workout at home and best thing is that most of the exercises are done with just bodyweight.
I recommend joing Beachbody's free online forum where you get tons of free advice from everyday normal people losing weight and changing their lifes. It Free!

If you really want to get in shape and lose that weight I would recommend doing the P90x workout. Its a 13 week program and a lifestyle that will get you in the best shape ever if you follow the nutrition and workouts.
I will tell you that this is not an easy workout but if you give it 100% you won't be dissappointed.
As with any exercise program diet is 90% of your battle. This is by far the best workout, get in shape program I have seen or done.

Well here is my experience on the subject, 75% of women I have met have had it done and the majority of them have been more promiscuous than those who haven't had it done.
I find that most (NOT ALL) enjoy all the attention that their new gals attract and that leads to being more sexually loose so to speak. I had 2 dates that when we meet had no issue with pulling up their shirts to see them... They were just so proud of them I guess they figured I would want to see them
Also have heard sometimes when a woman gets them done it's a sign she is getting ready to leave the person she is with.
I think that a woman can have it done and not go overboard and still have them look natural, its the ones who have it done to where they look like the have two grapefriuts hanging from their neck. Too much is not really a turn on. I have 2 friends who had it done because of having kids and they had it done to where they still looked natural and not fake.
Anyways my motto is that I don't mind playing with them as long as I dont have to pay for them

Like I said its a two way street. Guess I need a magic mirror lol I workout and I have average as I don't have a 6pac (hell not even in the fridge) so average works for me.
If you put athletic and I meet you and you are not I am already turned off and not too happy. Sorry your personality not going to do it for me.

When did Curvy begin to mean Obese?

I think the problem stems from us taking what someone says to be accurate and upon meeting finding otherwise. This applies to men and women and not one sided. I have had my share of dates who looked nothing like their pictures.
Everyone holds their weight differently, me personally at 5'10" have weight as much as 203lbs and a size 36 which is my max. I usually am around 185-190lbs and becuase I was into body building in my 20's my structure can handle it and most people would never guess that I weighted 200lbs.
My biggest problem is when people decieve you by putting up pictures that do not represent them.

I have gotten to the point of oh well next. Life would be a **** if everyone liked me.
Sometimes people have no manners or whatever but its a big pond so NEXT.
Too many other things to stress over that are more important then worrying about whether or not someone emails me back. You will have the same number of stuck up people online as offline... NEXT

What do women think when a guy comes too quickly?

Well I can say I have my moments now and then but it never stopped me from making sure she was happy.
Besides there is always rounds 2, 3 and 4 lol
With me depends on lots of factors as to how long I last. Could be a few minutes to 30 plus minutes but then again I never stop at just once and she will get hers one way or another and not with toys either.

Is there too much competition on dating web sites

Sorry to say but YES and YES. Here are the problems with any online dating site:
1. The Candy Store Syndrome: Its like being a kid in a candy store surrounded by so many flavors that you can't make up your mind on what you really want.
2. The Better Syndrome: Again because you now have so many options, the minute you find someone you like there is that little devil on your shoulder telling you that you can do better if you wait a bit. The problem with this is that you are always thinking you can do better that you don't really give anyone a fair chance of getting to know them. In the end you end up constantly looking and asking yourself why you can't find anyone.
You also have people who think they are the best thing since mom's apple pie and looking for the perfect match. Yeah right good luck on that one.
Personally I never really understood the whole things about being favorited by hundreds unless you are trying to win a popularity contest
or in need of an ego stroking. How could you get to know 200 poeople. I stay away from anyone who has been favorited by that many people.
Then you run into those that are simply bored and on sites just to pass time.
Most of the time if I send someone a compliment ( not to ask them out or anything) just a note to say hi you have a nice smile, you can't even get a thank you back.
Online dating sites can become more like work and you have to do a lot of weeding so just sit back grab a cold one
and don't let it get to you and you will do fine.
Don't worry about being average etc think of it as there loss not yours.

Inexperienced old people

That a girl ~rain~ I guess my being 47 puts me in the old group ready for retirement..
I don't feel my age or look it I think and I can still date women 10-15 years younger if I chose too.
I think you are only boring or inexperienced when you refuse to try new things and its all about getting to know your partner, what they like etc....

Damn openlybi775 where did you get those stats? I am 47 and I do it an average of 2-4 times a day/night depending on how I am feeling but even if I am sick I will not settle for just once unless its taking to long.. LOL
And I don't use the blue pills so your stats are way off. I am just as horny now as I was in my 20-30's but will admit that 4 seems to be my limit. No more 6-8 times in one night. lol so age has slowed me down a bit

Women attributing their realtionship problems to chioldhood abuse....

goodkindacrazy somehow I feel thats how my ex feels and explains her choice in men.
It was almost as if she felt she was not good enough to be with me because I treated her with respect and love and was very supportive.
Shame as I was even willing to go to therapy with her and even help pay for it. All she did was make excuses.
I need someone who appreciates me and wants to be with me more than every 4-6 weeks. I feel she will always attract the kind of men who will take advantage of this and just use her until they are done with what they want...

I agree with carolann0308 when she says we have to heal ourselfs before turning to others.
I found that out with my last ex who because of past experiences was very deppressive and would shut me out. Got to poing she would see me every 4-6 weeks and for her that was normal but for me I could not handle.
She is used to being with men who were I guess in some ways abusing and that for her was what she liked even though she would say no and then I came along and she could not handle a normal relationship. She does not feel she needs help so I am not with her and feel sorry for her as otherwise she is a great woman. Sad
