Chinese Wushu/Kung Fu (fighting)
Posted:

Hey, how about that - I actually agree with peacethx on something, LOL. I don't think any particular art is the best, for the reason that peacethx noted - the individual is always a wild card. I do feel that the MMA training methodology (resistance in all ranges) produces the most consistent results as far as effectiveness, and any art can benefit from it's implementation.
And FWIW, one of the sharpest guys I used to spar with was primarily a kung-fu guy.

What man or band is the Godfather of Heavy Metal? Let the debate begin!
Posted:

I think we need clarification from the OP. When I read "godfather of metal" I'm thinking "progenitor" or "predecessor", not the actual first metal band (Sabbath, IMHO). Which do you mean, OP? Predecessor or First Metal band?

Is that a joke? Brock Lesnar would LEVEL Bob Sapp in about 10 seconds. Come on. Brock has shown that he can pin down BJJ black belts - easily. Fedor would have his work cut out for him.

Cat or Dog person
Posted:

I am more of a dog person, but I love cats, too. My male cat would sit in my lap all day if I let him. My female cat follows me around the house like a dog, LOL. My dog is a hyper pit-beagle-weimeranier mix that makes me laugh all the time. All she wants to do is play. Or sleep. People on the street stop me to tell me how beautiful and well-trained she is. The Dog Whisperer is a genuis!

I agree with Seeking. Brock would be a real threat to Fedor. No one can say that Fedor didn't win that fight - decisively - but to say that he was never in trouble is cr4p. Rogers had him in a bad way with the GnP. Rogers did a lot better than I thought he would.
Props to Fedor though. Any fighter that continuously beats others fighters at
what they do best
certainly ranks at the very top.

UFC 104: Machida vs. Rua announced
Posted:

Peace -
With all due respect, Cecil Peoples has got to be one of the WORST judges extant in combat sports. Leg kicks don't count? Backpedaling is ring control? Come on. That guy lives in his own world. The judging on that fight was very suspect, especially considering that FightMetric had that fight scored for Rua by a good margin.
And yes, I thought Bisping beat Hamill too, so I'm not being a hypocrite. LOL.
I didn't give Rua a shot in hell in this fight, but he looked very sharp. We'll see what happens at the rematch!

Hendrix was not metal, agreed. But he did lay the foundation for hard rock/metal in both playing and showmanship - think flaming guitars and picking with teeth, etc. In the same way that Cream or Vanilla Fudge were not metal, but found the path. Sabbath *was* metal.

Oh, what's that?
Outside of the robbery, just like I said. Low kicks/soccer kicks for days.
All you UFC kids need to get out of the fight scene and stay spectators. You let hype get to you.
*rolls eyes*
Whatever, dude. Shogun didn't win by either leg lock or soccer kick, Nostradamus (going back to your original prediction) . A leg kick is not a soccer kick. He didn't even win the fight - although I agree with you that he should have. Props to him for figuring out that combos and leg kicks are the answer to Machida. Lyoto will need to be much more aggressive to win the rematch.
How about Pat Barry and Chael Sonnen? Stevenson looked sharp, too. Nice job by them.

Net Neutrality

But if the web is regulated by the FCC, will it really be neutral? Or will some opinions be suppressed for political reasons? Can the government be trusted to keep the net free?
WTF? Do you even know what this is about? This is about corporations trying to limit internet access, not the government. How would you feel about a liberal-owned internet access provider blocking conservative sites, or vice-versa? That's what could happen. Read up:

Yeah, the tighter the snares are, the less vibration you will have. I keep mine pretty tight, but I like the Stewart Copeland snare tuning, so it works for me, LOL. Only other solution is a set of V-drums.

Well, in fairness, the vast majority of the best and most popular MMA fighters in almost every weight category are in the UFC, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that UFC fighters would dominate this list. Especially if you're talking casual fans.

Boxing question
Posted:
9/25/2009 4:42:24 PM
Well, when I say huge, I mean relative to the USA market. So MMA is still pretty big in Japan, although I agree it has diminished quite a bit. I mean, MMA is still practically a niche thing here in the USA, too. It hasn't eclipsed boxing yet, as Mayweather's PPV numbers were very good.

Boxing question

That and MMA is a joke outside the US borders.
That's not true, and you know it. MMA is huge in Japan and Canada, amongst others. It's not that big in Europe, I will concede. Boxing is waning in the US (compared to Europe) because they aren't delivering fights that people want to see, due to all the rival promotions. If they make fights happen, boxing will come back.

Mainly wondering if it changes your view of the woman you've been chatting to? Do you just see them as fling/booty call or still with some potential for a LTR?
Sex talk doesn't automatically make a woman into one-night-stand material. Sexual compatibility is important for long-term realtionships, so it shouldn't be ignored.
What about exchanging naked pics? Not in any desperate "I'm trying to get you to meet with me" attempt but just sexy pics to flirt?
That's a bit too flirty for me.

UFC 104: Machida vs. Rua announced

Fission -
I note how you have focused on the Sean Sherk thing, and avoided my comment about other MMA fighters closer to Floyd's weight class. Your attempt to frame your argument is weak, bro. *I* didn't choose Sean Sherk, btw, Dana White did. I was just mentioning that fact. But correcting you never gets old.
I didn't start these comparisons. Kenpo did. Should probably ban him first.
And once again, that would be utterly incorrect - tx2az1 was the one who started mentioning boxing here, I just responded. But I am gratified to think that you are so intimidated by my text here as to call for my banning. Hoo rah. LOL
