Report profile feature - broken today (2009/02/12)?
Posted:

I have the same problem today (4/17/09), I use IE and have absolutely no desire to change to firefox. I don't think I should be required to change in order to use this function of the site. I find some of the "alternate" browser supporters to be almost obsessive in their quest to convert everyone to their views (& browser). I'm fine with microsoft, I don't care that Bill is a billionare, I like microsoft as much as you like your firefox or whatever.

Question regarding member being in pictures
Posted:
1/19/2009 3:59:31 PM
According to the photo upload section...maximum of 8 pictures & you must be in all of the photos. However, I see LOTS of profiles with pictures of cars, flowers, houses, scenery, etc--and the person isn't in them. Is this only for new members? Because I think that all members should have to abide by the same rules.

Texting

If a person can't do personal calls at work..they shouldn't be texting either. Besides, I find the text-talk to be a seriously deficient way to communicate. If you call a person, they can actually hear you laugh and you don't need "lol".

Okay, update. I finally got hold of a web help person at CapOne and apparently my "clock" had changed to August from June. Once I set it back to June, it was okay. Now the question is....how did the clock date get changed?

Have you messaged people for "intimate encounters"? You must have run afoul of one of the person's restrictions. Read on their profile what restrictions they have in place--some people have numerous ones and you may have breached one of them and not even realize it.

"Cookies disabled" on only one website? Is that possible?
Posted:
6/17/2008 7:27:45 AM
I have had web access to my various credit card companies for years, now suddenly last night when I tried to log onto one of them (cap.one) ... the "Cookies have been disabled on your Web browser" message appears. I have done no tweaking, and all the other websites are behaving properly. My security settings have remained the same & cookies are enabled. I can't even re-enroll because of the same message appearing. Any ideas?

Of course they have clear shower curtains. Less likely it's going to turn into "that" kind of gathering place if visibility is maintained. No one likes to talk about it, but we all know what the reason for it is. Shower at home, then you can monitor your own towel/room cleanliness & you certainly know who's been using it (& how).

Why No Picture?
Posted:
3/11/2008 5:49:37 PM
I am not turned off by the fact that a person doesn't have a picture. Not everyone has a digital or access to a way to post one. I have heard complaints of some people having their pics hijacked & used by someone else or for some sleazy purpose (like cut & paste on a porno shot). You can have a picture on private & share only with who you choose. I personally have more problems with overuse of Emoticons...egads, you don't need 20 in a post or your profile. I just skip over those without even reading--too distracting. Your thoughts should be able to carry the "conversation".

POF Help.. in wrong forums

Why suddenly has so many question regarding POF functions, such as removing people, picture problems, banner ads, etc...not moved to this forum, but are left in the "Technology/computer" forum? Perhaps you need an "informational" banner letting people know to post POF problems/questions in the proper forum.

MSN home page problems

Not sure about this forum's purpose now...everything seems to only be POF related which it wasn't before. They were on POF suggestions/help forum. Well, I'll try anyway...I have MSN home page, but occasionally when I return to my home the column sizes have spontaneously changed. Specifically usually the middle of the 3 columns become HUGE, sending the 3rd clear off the screen. No particular reason--I haven't done anything while I was out surfing, honest!

Why do guys keep looking when they say they found the right one?

As one a little (!) older than you, and having been single for 18 years---a little advice---he didn't lie, you were "the one" while he was with you. And you may very well be "the one"...eventually. Do you really believe in "love at first sight"? I would hope you got over that about---oh, 50 years ago. Enjoy the dates, and the time while it is happening. It's all about learning about each other, it's a journey. Don't be so desperate.

anyone experienced with hyper-thyroidism?
Posted:
6/23/2007 9:22:49 PM
My sister was just diagnosed with hyper-thyroidism, and would like to know if anyone has it or has knowledge of alternative nutritional helpful suggestions for dealing with it--supplements or dietary. Her last TSH was 0.01, and she has gone from 107# to 90# in a few months time with no change in her diet. There are tons of things in regards to hypothyroid, obviously being hyper isn't quite as common. She is avoiding seafood & iodized salt, but that's all so far.

Rating Forum Responses Addition
Posted:
4/25/2007 11:06:14 AM
A person becomes "most trusted member" simply by responding often?...don't think that necessarily should mean anything. Perhaps they are just housebound & are on the computer all day. There are some incredibly opinionated people that try to bully their opinions on everyone else...they also post a lot. They shouldn't be rewarded for this behavior.
What difference does it make if people agree or disagree with your post, that's the whole point of having the forums? For discussion...hence people who agree or disagree respond rather than just rate your response. Discussion requires thought & effort to actually post what you think for everyone else to see. People should verbalize they thoughts, rather than just check...agree or disagree. Don't be a chicken!
Rating the original post...it is already in place, if noone likes it---no responses and it eventually drops off. If it is in violation, it is reported & deleted by mods.

Why the number of single parents ??
Posted:
4/17/2007 10:41:55 AM
If you know your kids are "way too spoiled", why don't you do something about it? You are their primary parent, so it is up to you to raise responsible children. I was a single parent (because of divorce), and it is more important for children to learn to "earn" their own way than be overcompensated by a guilty feeling parent. Eventually you will be dead (yes, you will), and they will have to fend for themselves. If you were gone today---how prepared for life are they? This applies whether they are 5 or 15 or older. This isn't a popular idea, but I think increased welfare/food stamps should stop after the 2nd pregnancy. And dna tests should be required & dad's named to help pay for these kids.

Better search options

I'm not sure why it matters who has been "favourited" the most. Sometimes it is completely related to her pictures, men are definately visually oriented & women know it. So they post pics that they know will appeal to the majority of men. You certainly don't see guys fighting to see who can be "favourited" the most. For some women it is a contest & they actively solicit being added to people's favorite lists in their profile, so they can be #1. Kind of like junior high. Maybe they think there is some sort of award for that.

Do people join dating sites to find love, a lasting relationship, or for other reasons?

bonbon, the answer why your previous thread was thrown out is probably because this topic has been done to death---over & over again. Do a thread search...enter "dating sites". Mods aren't required to give explanations why threads are deleted, it's because there was a violation of the rules.

Wild, what an interesting post. For all your talk about no age prejudice...I find it interesting that you have age restrictions on your profile that would prevent a lady more than 5 years older than you from contacting you. However, the age span for women younger than you is considerably more than 5 years.

Wow, you seem really unhappy. This is a free site & Admin can only do so much at one time, and you are not the only one with "suggestions". Bottom line is: it's his site, and he can do exactly as he pleases. He doesn't even have to let us give him suggestions, calm down. We don't get to control the world just because we have a computer & an opinion. This is not a democracy--we don't have a vote here.

"Move along to a mans man...." What in the heck is that suppose to mean? People don't need to be rude or mean, that is not the same as asking a legitimate question of someone. I have found most people of my acquaintence have no problem answering questions, as long as they are asked as though you are honestly interested in what they have to say. If you have already decided to reject someone based on a disability (or even color of hair, if you're totally shallow) then you owe them honesty in a kind manner. Remember the Golden Rule.

Dirtyslopez...how do you know that all cavemen died by 30? I personally would think that the fact that they lived in the woods/caves next to wild animals didn't help with their longevity. I imagine the "caveman diet" would include food as close to natural as possible in this society. Basically the usual advice of "don't eat white or processed food".

More body type options

I think the solution is just to post your weight in the profile description part. If you meet the person---they're going to see who you are anyway, what's the secret? But one suggestion--please use the appropriate measurement system for the person you're messaging. In spite of the government's attempts, the US isn't on the metric system. You're right, not all men like skinny (thin, petite, whatever) women, and not all women want tall men. Just be honest, why not? When a person uses "average", and the picture obviously is a very large person--others aren't going to believe anything else on the profile either.

I wouldn't consider $20 a month a "small" membership cost. I agree that no amount of $$$ is going to stop rude comments. You really need to grow a thicker skin if you are going to do the whole internet thing. Why would you want to block someone before the first response? That comment really had me scratching my head..... You are a very new user to this site, give it some time or just move on to the sites that charge "$20 month". We'll all be here waiting for you when you come back.

Weight loss question.
Posted:
2/25/2007 8:52:35 PM
The easiest way I have found for weight loss was accidental...I was simply trying to lower my cholesterol. I bought Optimum Nutrition Gold Protein Powder (cost about $50 for 10#--155 servings--over 5 months!--available also in 5# containers). Check Vitacost or BodyBuilder.com for best net prices. Went to Costco--big bags of frozen fruit for about $8, frozen blueberries for $10. Made fruit smoothies (add yogurt, juice, fresh fruit, whatever) and substituted it for my dinner. You can sub your lunch, if it's easier...the O.N. whey mixes easily with a spoon in just water & gives you 24 g. of protein and only about 120 cals. Drink plenty of water. No snacking after your dinner. None.
I've also always been told that when you grocery shop....circle only the outside walls of the store. That's where the "good" food is located....check it out sometime....fruit/veg, meat, dairy, bread (whole wheat, please). It's uncanny.
Exercise. If you can only do 10 minutes, just walk around the house (inside or out)--no one is going to be watching you, it's okay. You can use cans of food, or milk containers filled with water for weights if you want. Get a jump rope or a hula hoop. You don't need expensive equipment or even leave the house.

Value Village and Thrift Stores.... (Scams)

Personally I think the worst of the lot is Goodwill Industries. It was revealed several years ago that the CEO (and WHY does that organization need one of those?) receives something close to a million a year. And their prices are astronomical. A person I knew who worked one of the donation trucks, told me that they get "first choice" of anything they want--that's why the really good stuff never makes it to the stores. Give me the good ole Salvation Army any day of the year. I think the good ole IRS needs to take a really close look at most of these organizations. The really interesting ones to actually find things in are the ones run by local "charities" like Gospel Mission, Humane Society, Teen Help organizations & the like.

I'm tired of buying & returning.

I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. You are right it was "discovered" in the 70's, which means of course that people died from it before but it was misdiagnosed. My daughter got the lecture from me, her doctor, and health classes before & during puberty. Why didn't your niece receive the same education? In fact, I believe there is a required warning about it on the boxes or in the insert in every package of products.

I take niacin (doc orders) for cholesterol control, multi vitamin & omega's. Because of heart damage from childhood illness, we supplement for my heart health with other things but they are specific to my situation. If you are really that broken hearted...there is a forum specifically for that and it is populated more frequently than this one. Having a broken heart is part of living--everyone will be left at some point....by a pet, parent, job, love interest, child....something or someone. That's how we know we are still living & loving. Actually MS alerted me that there was a critical update and ran in the background downloading it everytime I was online (I'm the one person left on the planet on dial-up). Well, when it finally announced it was done, I checked & all it had was IE7 (which I don't consider critical!). I have tried checking "cancel"...it still is just sitting outthere announcing itself everytime I log on again.

MS automatic update has downloaded IE 7 to my computer....I have read some really freaky things about it so I don't want it downloaded right now. Everytime I log on, the "shield" reminds me that I have updates waiting to be downloaded. Is there anyway to just delete without downloading?
