Userplane

Here is an interesting web page I found since everyone is up in roars about the im function disappearing:

http://www.userplane.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=casestudies.casestudy&id=plentyoffish

The real reason people are upset is because of the changes on plenty of fish. First, we have the serious member function showing up. Plenty of fish has changed from being 100% free to being a partially paid site with benefits. In order to be free, plenty of fish must display ads on EVERY page, but with the serious member feature, it is negated. Now we have lost a resource many people utilized to facilitate communication. People can live without the im, but what potentially affects us all is that the consistency standard was broken. Now, people are probably wondering what this site is going to do next.

Also, there are people on here that are very happy with their relationships. I'm glad that the site is able to help people find matches. So, instead of ranting about other people, perhaps it is best to spend time with your loved one. Negativity may drive your relationships away.

Serious member????????

After some considerable thought on the 'serious' member status, I have come to a conclusion.

The serious member obviously wants attention, even negative attention. The same can be said for a person (notice how gender isn't part of the equation) who spends a lot of money on a date.

The regular folks (like us) prefer a lesser status that means more in the long run.

Folks, there is a 50/50 chance of meeting the right person at the right place and the right time. We are all beautiful people in our own way, and one day a lucky person will accompany you through this adventure of life. I would encourage you to believe in yourself and everything will come together for you.

Markus does not own the userplane, AOL does. Markus pays for it. AOL is discontinuing it.

We need to get the facts straight. AOL has a site explaining the userplane program well. AOL is still collecting revenue from it's ad-supported userplane. I would also dare to venture AOL would be out of business were it not for that revenue stream. There are two ways to get the program:

1. Instant install: Our free, ad-supported, copy-and-paste version. Add the one-line script to any HTML page for instant installation.

2. Integrated install: A customizable version that can be fully integrated with your site. Available with or without ads in free or usage-based packages.

I'm assuming that Markus went with the integrated install. The reason for the change probably has something to do with not being able to display ads on the 'serious member' profiles and AOL wants to have ads on every page if we are to use the 'free' version of the userplane. The userplane will most likely not make a comeback as long as we have 'serious' members.

This is the website for userplane from AOL:

http://www.userplane.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=apps.webchat

Lastly, I'm enjoying seeing the people believe what they think is true without doing any research into the matter.

Plenty of Fish Instant Messenger

The more functionality you take away from this website, the more you are like the other sites. The instant messenger was a good tool for communication, and now pof is being compared to other dating websites with less advertisements. If you are okay with being just like the other sites, you are headed in the right direction. H o t or N o t made a big mistake when they went from a paying status to free and back again to a paid site. My guess is that AOL wanted to start collecting fees for the use of their userplane, and Markus (not having a single employee) decided against it. Here is a little note for Markus: If you don't take care of your customers, someone else will.

Unsatisfying Sex Lives

only he was satisfied with the way it was.

I may be wrong, but it seems that may be the problem.

Do you think its fair to me to try so hard and make so much effort for 2 minutes?

Relationships should be about two people working at it. I can respect where you are coming from, and it sucks that is happening to you.

How long have you been together?

Unsatisfying Sex Lives

Are you able to stay with someone when you have an unsatisfied sex life? What if the person is unteachable? Most people say that sex isnt a big thing in a relationship, the fact is that its not the biggest part but it is a huge part. You have to be happy with your loved one in order to grow together.

I may have something to offer. Sex is only the symptom of a deeper problem. People are constantly forced to adapt and overcome hardships throughout their lives. People either adapt to a situation, or not. If there is to be any success with a serious relationship, communication must be effective. Sex is merely an example that many people can identify with, but it almost always revolves around a case by case basis. Situations may not always be to our liking, but if you are doing your best that's all anyone can ask.

Best of luck to all of you,

C

Serious member????????

People respond to interesting profiles, not a yellow dot.

Honestly, can a yellow dot make that much difference? It only shows who is willing to pay for something that is free.

I would love to see some replies back on this subject.

Serious member????????

I was just wondering, who really wants to be labeled as a serious member?

It seems like there is a stigma to being a serious member.

Does anyone else think that having the yellow dot means you are (potentially) desperate?
