Hunter or the hunted?
Posted: 2/8/2009 10:58:16 AM
I would love to be the "man" and "hunt" women. Problem is, Define today's man...

Please

Anyone?

I am a single father. Which means I play the mother, I play the father...and I do everything in our house that either would do. I cook, I clean, I nuture, I work in the yard. I go to work, I come home and cook. I try and keep up with "self improvement" through all means possible, But I am not clear on the "man" part anymore.

Have we started to morph into "asexual" beings??

Help me out, I am HUNTING for the answer

OP

You can't make someone want you. They either do or they don't. Their behaviours will tell you everything you need to know. No matter how much you would like to think she likes you and has maybe slipped on the floor and is crawling to the phone to call you.... if she doesn't return your call, she isn't interested.

I believe that we are only willing to do what WE WANT to do when it comes to another. All the conjecture and hoping will change NOTHING. If she hasn't called back within a day, then I say MOVE ON man, she isn't that into you.

This may seem harsh or bitter or whatever, but speaking from experience (too much experience I am afraid) you are going to gain nothing from wanting and wishing...

I heard a great thing... and I will share. You can wish in one hand, and shit in the other, and see which hand fills up first!

Lot's of women out there and when it is the right one, you won't question it because they will display their desires as much as you and a rhythm will exist.

Climbing
Slippery surfaces
Intake of breath
Plume of
Particles
Out
Side of cliff
We Tumble
While
Stomachs rumble
From the ache
Of desire
We tire
Of the climb

And rest
Our heads
On chest
Heaving
Desire

Mired
In thought

Of the climb
The time
Together
Short
Of breath
From the climb
To desire

what does forgiveness mean to you
Posted: 2/7/2009 8:26:47 AM
I think without forgiveness on the part of others, I would not be where I am today (in a pen...wtf?)

This is a touchy subject for me because I am pretty harsh on myself and tend to not forgive myself my misdeeds. Not that healthy when I think about it.

Forgive me for musing in public

Hopefully someone in the legal system will have the balls to never allow this to find it's way into the courts. I say they are lucky to even have the f-in property.

If you really want to avoid Maher's laundry list of bad things, the first step is to start thinking for yourself and stop listening to all the endless sh1theads out there who try to stir up hate, for whatever reasons. (Yes, I am including Maher in that category).

Interesting thoughts and somewhat credible. Yet, just another persons thoughts, no more right or just than another’s.

That is what I love about us as humans; we have been given a wonderfully powerful tool at birth... our minds. They are dangerous tools that can be used for production, destruction, contemplation, manipulation, creation.... you name it. BUT, just like a power tool, things can go horribly wrong when used improperly.

For the record, I enjoyed the film for the irony it presented and I got a few chuckles while watching a film that in my estimation was better than a lot of other crap out there currently. To each their own!

You should try it. Might be a new high for you.

I agree, they could have, or should have, been more persuasive with that option, but alas are not legally compelled to do... at this time.

With that statement above, it is no wonder society is messed up. No wonder there is such rage against freedom of choice. When one thinks they have ANY right to offer an opinion on anothers choice (or choice not) to abort, and then to have the gall to suggest that there should be laws for it... HOLY SH*T.

A new low.

For the record, I think it is crazy to think this woman can bring up those children properly, based on the sheer numbers, and today's cost of living (let alone be able to spend any quality time nuturing them) but it is her body and her choice. Who are we to comment without recognizing that it is HER thing to live with.

As for the rant about global economy, whatever, take care of your own.

Too Much Confidence
Posted: 2/1/2009 5:43:00 PM

No matter what our financial, personal or popularity status in life is, we should regard each other as equals, after all, we are all human & bleed when we're cut, don't we?

I for one do not feel that someone is my equal because they have blood coursing through their veins. Confidence in oneself is vital in the world we live in.

Eat or be eaten!

Their isn't too much confidence, however there can be too much conceit!

Graduate degrees
Posted: 2/1/2009 4:53:27 PM
I think it speaks to a persons drive and ambition when they have earned a degree in any field of higher education. I admire them for working towards and achieving a goal. I also find that if they are fond of displaying degree related acronyms beside their names or titles, they may tend to be a little too "staunchy" for moi. That said, I am neither jealous nor envious of someone who has excelled in education as it is but one facet of "life’s learning".

I once worked with a gentleman who was extremely well educated, and somewhat of a career student, but man was he messed up! His education did very little for his personality and I often felt sorry for him because all he had was his "schooling".

To each their own! I happen to be rather fond of someone who did post graduate studies for many years and holds a degree, and she in turn likes me, who has none. We have some wonder discussions about a myriad of subjects, and never have I felt that a lack of formal education could keep me from learning in other ways.

Vino: Screw-cap or Cork ...
Posted: 1/30/2009 12:36:48 PM
Absolutely no issue with buying the screw top as most wines are headed that way. Hell of a lot easier to open and re-seal.

The wines quality should be gauged by the rice and what you may have learned of the wine itself. The screw top is a hell of a lot easier when you don't have a corkscrew too.....

Finding Love Through Deception
Posted: 1/27/2009 7:06:32 AM
Tyeee and Wildman.... get a room! Bury the hatchet girls, it's getting old.

OT Full disclosure of what ails one is something that a "couple" will decide when the time is right. Until then, yes we can keep some things to ourselves. It is a matter of comfort and trust that will lead two people to revealing certain things to each other.

I think that you should be above board with someone you are interested in, but there is no point in revealing too many intimate details when you are first getting to know each other.

Love is deceptive, and mysterious, and multi-faceted.

^^ Hmmm .... Big pictures when one's head is in ass, might be somewhat sh*tty.

hummmmer.... Hummers are really rediculous for in city driving, as are F450 Dually's and other such monster vehicles. I have no issue if you are going on peace keeping missions in umm Kamloops and you need the humvee to cruise the hotspots in "Dallas" or "Barnhartvale".....

We should all be looking at what we drive right now.. step up and think about our parts. When I was in Europe, I really changed my tune about mid to sub-compact vehicles. I drive a land yacht currently but it will be replaced with something smaller when I have the money. I thought I needed a big car, but I realized that I could make do with smaller and maybe save some coin on gas. The days of the monster vehicles should be coming to an end, just like the dinosaurs... (kind of ironic eh... fossil fuel and all)

Her 'tests' - what is more important to him? Being right or being happy?
Posted: 1/24/2009 6:26:38 AM
Ticket, not everything is to be taken "literally". Merely suggesting that tests (in whatever form/format) are part of life. We are being tested daily. We will and do test each other in a relationship, although not always with specifics in mind. Testing is part of the natural order. We "try" "test" new things all the time.

The "profit" of which I spoke was merely what can be gained from choosing wisely.

What about the morality?

I for one, would wonder what kind of idiot would be willing to pay 3.8 million dollars to sleep with a sexually inexperienced "child". What an absolute waste of money. But I guess if you have that much disposable income... you become somewhat INSANE.

Posted: 1/23/2009 5:14:27 AM
How about this?

If you are going to employ someone, do you not first ask a bunch questions that are meant to "test" the potential employee to see if they will "fit" your company?

When you choose to employ this person, do you not do so knowing that they will have to prove themselves after being hired? Is there not a period of time in which you continue to "test" the employee and even have a period (3 months) in which you can let the employee go without notice or cause, because they may fail some of your "tests"?

Why do you do all this? Because you know there have been "employees" who will say almost anything or do almost anything to gain employment, but then go on to change and work less an less at growing the "profitability" of the "relationship".

Of course people are going to test each other. It is not a game, it is a part of "selecting" the right person to share your "venture" with. It is done with a goal in mind... Profit!

Saving Hollow Tree is Relatively Economical
Posted: 1/22/2009 5:19:35 AM
It is indeed just a dead old tree and for some that means it should disappear, for others it has a little more meaning (obviously or people wouldn't put up the money to save it)

Yes ML1 it could go the way of the dodo bird and life will go on. I personally am not going to lose sleep if it stays or goes. I was just pointing out that for some it has meaning and represents a part of the park that endured for a very long time. THe point I was making was that it doesn't upset me that some are willing to pay for it to remain.

Your arguments are your personal feelings to which you are entitled. That does not make them right for all, nor does it change much... not unlike my feelings on the subject.

The tree being saved (although dead) as a part of the heritage of the park, is ok by me. Hopefully it can be used to teach people about the history of the park and not unlike an old building or other artifact, it should serve as a reminder of the past.

The usefulness of discussing it any further is lost on me so this thread, like the tree, is dead to me.

Speaking strickly from my own perspective, I think that both sex's "test" each other somewhat. I think that we look to see how the other will react to certain situations and lifes stresses. I believe that this is a way of gauging compatability and an understanding of how the other may react in some of "life situations".
Where it may go wrong is if you don't let the other person know about the test and subsequently the test reults...

I notice something of late within the threads that deal with "opposite sex" issues and it is this. There are a lot of "bitter" people who have build some crusts about the opposite sex.

I think maybe the biggest "test" we face right now is how to get along... how to share..
How to communicate and show love.

Maybe give that a test

What does that mean? This is an old proverb that has joined the microwave generation!
It has been clipped down from the original phrase which was:
"The proof of the pudding is in the eating."
It means that the true value or quality of something can
only be judged when it's put to use or tried and tested.
The meaning is often summed up as:
"Results are what count...it's not how you start, but how you finish."

The Hollow tree at Stanley Park has been a "landmark" for very long time. I have family pictures from the 30's where my Granmothers family is in it complete with roadster....

It's not really an issue is it? What some people here fail to realize is that the money came from private sources and THEY chose to spend THEIR money on keeping it here for future generations. I am sure they have reasons for spending THEIR money. All the bleeding hearts that think the money should be put to different use know nothing of what other causes these people may support.

This really should be a non-issue.

It already HAS changed things.

#1 It has given a huge amount of people (dare I say all over the world) HOPE!

#2 It has broken the "tradition" of a "white" President. This is unprecidented, and having just finished reading one of the "Presidents" books, I trust that this man can see through racial barriers like no other president before him.

His work is cut out for him, and he has admitted that failure will be a part of his reign, but I believe this man will leave a great legacy and if it is only to serve as hope for others, then he has done his country a huge service!
