Class action against Yahoo Personals and Match.com for fraud Posted: 11/19/2005 8:38:18 PM | All the bashing going on I'd like to say at this time - Yes there are sites out there that have sent the fake emails and IM breakins- Thats why they want you to post your IM information when you sign up for their "free" services. (And who told you anything was free). Fooled me once ... but I've wised up.
In the meantime, I have used Yahoo to great success. I have met 2 ladies who originally contacted me and they were as adverstised. I have had to and from with several others that are still at the wink stage, and yes one just accepted my IM contact today. I've never been "propositioned" by what seemed to have been a Yahoo scam other than a couple of "african seeking american stud" type scams.
As for POF - I just had a wonderful afternoon with a lady who contacted me on within days of posting my profile. And I don't even have a picture. If it wasn't for POF I would say to everyone - You Get What You Pay For.
I think that all this success with online dating referals is due to a simple profile which is honest and on sites which have the calabre of users that Yahoo and POS have. And I am part of the demographic with far fewer choices (aging boomer - smoker). Hope everyone else has the choices and success that these two sites have provided me. Yahoo is cheaper than all the other "free but pay" sites and I am finding POS has a great deal to offer even with a tad smaller universe of potential contacts.
Screw the rest. | | | |
