The Battle of Alberta: Calgary vs Edmonton

i only see rednecks in Calgary on really hot days....
I tend to gravitate towards meeting techy people, online through meetups, twitter etc, and find that the redneck label will eventually wash away as the older generation fades away.

in order for this to happen to me...
Someone would have to message....

But I will keep an eye out for it...

Marda Gras is coming up quickly on Sunday Aug 9th 2009. The all day festival runs from 10am to 5pm.
This one-day event takes place in the Marda Loop neighborhood along 33rd and 34th Avenues S.W. east of Crowchild Trail in Calgary, Alberta. It attracts some 30,000 people for a fun-filled and family-friendly event that embraces the culture and cuisine of New Orleans. As a free public event, it depends on sponsorship participation from local and other corporate entities.
VOLUNTEER AT MARDA GRAS STREET FESTIVAL 2009:
If you have the community spirit and love the energy of a Street Festival, jump in for a unique chance to get involved. Every year, we rely on hundreds of volunteers to help us, and have various planning as well as day-of-the-event requirements. Money Making Idea's....
Posted:
7/15/2009 7:52:13 PM
I started helping small business owners with their web presence in this ever changing internet. Most web designers work that I have seen fail miserably when taking into account the algorithms involved in Search Engine Ranking. Put bluntly, the average web designer will build you a car with a pretty interior, but not know how to fine tune the engine to make it work properly.
Small business is my business, whether it's A/R, A/P, purchasing, shipping/receiving, processes, planning, technology, and most importantly customer care. I have been making business owners lots of money for the last 15 years, so branching out into consulting will free up some time while paying the dividends.

Strange Paradise -
You yourself posted a link to a CBC article citing the 11 Billion dollars they ESTIMATE is lost due to health care and productivity. That's not scientific. That's some governmenr weasel ESTIMATING so that, as pointed out above, they can justify higher taxes and have something to talk about other than real issues that affect Canadians.
I can ask you the same thing. SHOW ME YOU SCIENTIFIC DATA! I already know, you ain't got none. There is none.

I would bet that given the option, business owners would go back to smoking establishments.
As for the ESTIMATES on the cost of smoking, like I have previously posted, it is all MYTH AND CONJECTURE, as there is no proof whatsoever, save for these SCIENTIFIC ESTIMATES.
The government told me so, so it must be true.... O_o

How about you non-smokers cough up the billions and billions of dollars that are procured through smoking taxation to fund all of the amenities that Canadians enjoy and we can finally put this issue to rest!
Oh, what's that? You don't want to pay more taxes?
Smoking in Privately owned establishments should not be regulated by government.

Trubble, why can't you comprehend the fact that there were errors in the election process and the results are in doubt? If your union voted for something, and you lost, and then results came out saying, "hey, we have 1200 ballots, but there's only 900 workers?" would you just walk away claiming you lost?
Why does it always come back to the Yankee/Israeli factor?

I think Trubble has a browser addon that only shows him what's he's already programmed into it.
The Guardian Council are the true power in Iran, so when there Spokesperson comes out and claims that there are more ballots than citizens in more 50 cities, what does that say?
I listen to the Iranian chatter on the internet everyday and it is really sad hearing some of the things that come across. It was even sadder seeing a picture of Neda, a now dead Iranian girl.
Are you watching CBC for your news Trubble?
If this was such a standup election, why are the powers that be kicking journalists out of the country and taking down lines of communication to the rest of the world?
I hope Trubble never listens to Gilles Duceppe talk. The man speaks very well and with conviction, and he would definetly has his vote. HAHA.

Iris Evans Speaks out.

disclosure - I have no children.
I've known kids from all kinds of families and there is no right or wrong situation to raise children. Kids from good single income, stay at home parent turn out to be criminals just like the kids from dual working, daycare situations. Single parents moms raise good kids, and some single parents end up with bad kids.
I think the real issue is a lack of community. My mother recalls in the 60s being disciplined by her neighbour for being a jackass kid, and my grandmother was fine with that. My mom's not a criminal.
Most of us couldn't name our neighbours(inner city speak here) and if someone were to step up and attempt to correct a wrong, odds are they would just get the cops called on them, so most people turn a blind eye to the idiocy of kids these days and the kids know they can get away with stuff these days when the parents aren't around.
just my two cents.

Definition of a fair election. When more ballots are counted than there are eligible voters.
Iran's Guardian Council has suggested that the number of votes collected in 50 cities surpass the number of people eligible to cast ballot in those areas.
The council's Spokesman Abbas-Ali Kadkhodaei, who was speaking on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) Channel 2 on Sunday, made the remarks in response to complaints filed by Mohsen Rezaei -- a defeated candidate in the June 12 Presidential election.
"Statistics provided by Mohsen Rezaei in which he claims more than 100% of those eligible have cast their ballot in 170 cities are not accurate -- the incident has happened in only 50 cities," Kadkhodaei said.
Only 50 cities... Could be more than 3 million ballots. Read the story here

15% will never amount to enough to maintain the level of service that we Canadians are accustomed to.

CTV just reported documents have surfaced showing Early returns with Mousavi way out ahead. .
How did they count 40 million ballots in 12 hours? Less time than any electioner official anywhere in the world said it would take.
19 people have died today.
The Multi-Cultural Act of Canada allows people of all nations to bring their nationality here, and hey, we'll pay for it.

It's been more than a week now since the lopsided results of Iran's democratic election proclaimed Ahmanijedad President more than 48 hours before they were expected.
His supporters and those of Mousavi, the main opposition, have been marching in rallys/protests every day, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries all over the country. The Supreme Leader has come out and basically said "Sit the f%^k down and shut up."
On Friday night here in Calgary (#YYC), protestors of Admanijedad gathered at the Olympic Plaza and was well received by passing cars and pedestrians.
Were you there? Thoughts?
