If true, an amazing achievement.
My late brother was diagnosed with this, as well as several people I know. would be nice to see that its on its way out.

Its not a connection thats there, I think you are projecting onto it.
Not saying he's a victim or anything like that, I just don't buy the idea that he and other movie people are automatically deviants because of their making non cutsey-poo movies.
The Director of Angel Heart - a very dark and disturbing movie - also directed Bugsy Malone, a juvenile musical.

Rosemary's Baby was written by Ira Levin (and a rollicking good read, too!) before the movie was made, so I don't think Polanski was enacting out anything as he followed the book pretty closely thats all.
In China town, he slits Jack Nicholson's nose, which is in the script and not something Polanski was hot and bothered to do in real life. Or is that something else about him that hasn't gone reported?
Just because Anthony Hopkins played a cannibal doesn't mean he goes around eating peoples livers.
I think he should be a man about it and eat the two years jail time he'd get then its over.

In todays news comes the information that the property may have had unapproved renovations since its last check. If so, does this factor into the fire? Does the owner/operator than run the risk of criminal charges?

The Brian Setzer Orchestra - Wolfgang's Big Night Out.
I don't need no foreign car
Movie Star
New guitar
A juke box in a funky bar
And one more night with you
I don't need no voodoo charm
Daddy's farm
False alarm
Ain't no thing can do me harm
As long as you are true"
I don't need no mojo hex
Bouncing checks
Another Ex
Shuffle in those poker decks
I'll go all in with you.
I don't need no pinky ring
Ba da Bing
One more thing
Love a band that loves to swing
And blast the whole night through
Lets go get us out of town
Double down
Lay around
All I needs a rockin sound
And one more night with you
Pap don't need another watch
Another chick
Another notch
Just pour me another Scotch
And one more night with you
I don't need no inside track
Deck thats stacked
Fade to black
I wont miss a thing I lack
As long as I got you
I just need my dog to fetch
Buck to stretch
Play some catch
I just need my big old Gretsch
These little things will do
I don't need no movie star
Foreign car
New guitar
A juke box in a funky bar
And one more night with you.

Its easy for the media to focus on bad news as people respond to it.
What bothers me is the criminal support mentality I see on display now - people wearing shirts saying 'Proud to be a known associate', or 'Stop snitching'. Like keeping quiet about criminal acts is somehow a good thing.

Most guys would have to google to find out what meanings single or multiple roses mean.
Every year for her birthday I sent her orange roses....because they are her favorite.
I don't care what the guide book says they mean.
A single rose wouldn't freak me out - unless it came in a moving van with all her stuff.

Do older men fear dating a woman with chilren?

When you fall in love all bets are off.
I would like to think I could deal with it. But each situation is different enough that what was manageable in one relationship wont fly in another.
That being said, I would resent constantly being put aside for the kids ALL the time - if you aren't ready to have a partner why are you dating?

when is it racism ?
Posted:
9/4/2009 9:46:46 PM
In the mid 70's, when I was in the Camerons, we wore a traditional highland regimental uniform. We sweated to death in the summer and froze to death in winter. Itched like hell and reeked of perspiration. Was grateful to join the pipe band to get in to the snazzy pipers full dress uniform.
Which itched like hell, we sweated in summer, froze in winter.
Today, the uniform is substantially different in material and appearance. No one seems to mind. And the Mountie uniform has also changed and moved with the times for both design, material and image. I see nothing wrong with a turbaned Mountie.
Back in the 80s, there was a kerfluffle over Sikhs wearing their kirpans into courtrooms. The belief being that the thing was a knife and therefor a weapon. They got to wear them.
I, as a Scot, wearing a kilt and full highland regalia, could not enjoy the same right in regards to my Skien Dubh, as it is a knife tucked in to the top of a sock. Even though it is every Scot's god given right to wear it.
Discrimination? You bet!

Greyhound cancelling service

Actually, the airport spent the 7 million to build the bus depot and are leasing it to the hound. Didn't cost them a penny. The facility is shared by U.S. based carrier Jefferson Bus lines, who operate from Winnipeg south to Kansas and other points.
My quoted cost for air fair to Minneapolis was $800.00. Went by Jefferson bus for $127,89.
One possible reason for the hound to relocate to the airport is the air shipped packages that they can pick up and then ship to smaller towns on the routes and create income.
Be interesting to see how much of the colourful locals of downtown that used to hang out at the bus depot make the effort to relocate to the airport.

Just finished a volunteer shift at the El Salvador pavilion. The show costumes are a riot of colours and the dancing was pretty cool. The Glenwood (on Overton) is a new location for them, it is bigger than they have had before so there is plenty of room. There is a single food line which moves pretty quickly, and the bar is split to provide soft drink service separately which helps move things along. The cultural display is in a separate room.
I really wanted buy one of those cool El Salvador hats, but they are out of them already.

Lancaster Airplane Landing In Winnipeg
Posted:

This wonderful airplane leaves Wednesday around noon after a record breaking attendance for the museum. If you are interested in watching the take off, I would recommend using the viewing deck at the actual airport and not the one at the museum as it isn't up to the job.
Hopefully, the museum will bring back the flying fortress 'Sentimental Journey' for the next big event.

Some people have the love at first sight thing fail on them, too. So maybe scaling back might help some, or being more selective could help others.

Didn't Slim Whitman sell more than that?
And you are right, allegations are not proof.
The Scottish verdict of Not Proven boils down to "we know you did it, we damn well know you did it. But the legal evidence isn't enough to actually convict you, so this is as far as we can go you lucky so and so." You walk out of court Scot free, then the town shuns you....

I like some of his songs, and Farrah was good to watch in Logan's Run (a movie that hasn't aged well).
As for the allegations, the Scottish verdict of Not Proven seems apt.
Be interesting to see if they make the memorial segment of the next academy awards show.

Lancaster Airplane Landing In Winnipeg
Posted:
6/26/2009 7:40:33 PM
There is a third Lancaster that is in taxiing status and might possibly make the upgrade to full flight status soon. A fourth is being re-skinned and awaiting test engine results for taxiing status. Last summer I was able to enjoy a flight in a restored B-17 (of which Canada had four), and can attest to the exhillerating sound of the four engine bomber when taking off.
Does anyone know if there is a static display Lancaster in Manitoba? We should have at least that for honoring our own Andrew Mynarski.
Will make sure I can be there for this impressive bomber that was manned by so many Prairie men.
Now I'm going to have to watch my dvd of the Dam Busters again!

Seriously, I have had several co-workers let go for drinking, I agree its rough, but safety and responsibility go hand in hand.
It should be across all work levels, if the clerk selling me a pair of socks is full as a boot then out the door he goes. The surgeon who is about to remove my appendix damn well better be sober.
