I caught him checking me out when he was throwing his groceries in to bags. I should have said something but - what do you say? "Geez, you keep eating like that and you're going to end up as fat as me!"?

OMG Halo THAT is priceless!! I'll bet at the very least it would have made you memorable to him......... here's to the next trip you"bump" into him on.

instant turnoffs to me?

those who think it is OK to Drink and Drive.
like everyone else,... nasty filthy teeth, crooked is ok if you keep them clean... not everyone has had the luxury of getting their teeth fixed.
drowning in cologne
smokers/ heavy drinkers/ those that partake in "social" drug use.
inability to talk about ANYTHING other than sex.

I think most if us have basically the same turn offs,...
some odd ones like Melons from X made me giggle. ( thought no guy would say that hahaha)
I can't stand those runners/hiking boots that guys wear with sweat pants.......... maybe it's the sweat pants? hahahha

Instant turn-offs on meeting a woman, in addition to some already mentioned

* being over-powered by her perfume and I've only got close enough to shake hands
* a handshake so feeble it feels like I'm holding an empty glove
* lack of sparkle and life in her eyes
* vulgarity

I am flummoxed by these women with baritone or squeeky high pitched voices who fool you with their attractiveness until they are unfortunate enough to crank open their mouths.***Women who sound like truck drivers**** Excessively accenting of sentences with redundant profanity for the ****ing wrong reasons is a ****ing waste of time and indicates a certain bad breeding, neglectful upbringing or possibly linguistic and cognitive laziness when other words would better suffice to serve the purpose of added emphasis.

Amazing that I don't see much mention of smoking above. Maybe it's too obvious. Anyway that's the big one for me. The most beautiful woman on earth could be walking down the street half-naked, and if she had a cigarette it'd be the first thing I'd see and I'd immediately lose all interest in the rest.

Offhand I can't think of anything else that turns me off instantly but there are a few things that'll give me a big jolt.:

"R u 4 real?" and other IM-speak

Discussions about lottery tickets.

Bigoted and/or racist name-calling, including use of the term "redneck."

I was tempted to add "snobbery" to the list but that isn't exactly true. Snobs don't turn me off, much as I basically despise snobbery. Instead they stand out of the crowd to me, in much the same way mice stand out to cats. Perhaps it's mean of me but I can rarely resist the chance to wind up a snob, even if it's just in a small way.

I forgot to add one to my list.

Many have already mentioned it, and it may not be discovered INSTANTLY; but it is a deal-breaker, nonetheless.

Hmmmmmmmmm - some of you are really at fast at figuring out what a person is all about. These are meant to be instant turn offs. Sometimes it takes a while to determine whether a person is honest or not.

I am sticking with my original answer dirty teeth and clothes, bad breathe and melons.

^ It may take a while to determine whether a person is honest or not - but when you DO find out they're dishonest, then you're INSTANTLY turned off. It's an INSTANT turn off to find out you're with someone who is a liar. Whether you've known them 5 minutes or 5 months.
