Why should children be looking at the genitals of someone of the opposite sex?

I hate to be the one to tell you, but...trans people have been pissing in the ladies room for eons. ((They usually sit to pee, btw))

More GOP politicians have been arrested for sexual misconduct in bathrooms than trans people. Trans people arrested = ZERO

I have never, in my 65 years of life, seen someone's genitals while in a public restroom. Even in the few where there were no doors on the stalls, when a person slips down their underwear and sits down, no genitals show, even if one had male parts they would be sitting in a position where you wouldn't notice. The only time I've seen male genitals in a girls bathroom was back in elementary school when a pedophile who was a janitor flashed me and my friend while we were in their washing out hands. So far no transgender person has ever tried to flash me or attack me, but I've had pedophiles attack me. None of the pedophiles seemed to be gay or transgender. I'm curious how many people here have been assaulted by a transgender person.

Do you really think it proper for my granddaughter to have some weirdo whip out his whanger right in front of her

I assure you. A trans (male to female) person would not "whip out his whanger" in front of her to embarrass your granddaughter.

Who is going to monitor what goes on behind those doors?

Just where do these 'facts' come from? They make up an estimated .3% of the population back in 2011 and you talk like it is commonplace throughout the country and is and has happened frequently.

Well, ForumReader...I never claimed "facts"...just stating from my personal experiences....I managed at a craft store across the street from Winthrop University and worked with no less than three trans people. The first one I realized because she and I were in the bathroom at the same time and I knew by the sound of her pee pee stream. I wondered know adam's apple and all, but she tried to hide it with a scarf. That was back in 2004. The second didn't dress as a woman at work so, she used the men's room while there. The third started as a woman then changed to a man, but didn't start using the men's room until after he had his breasts removed and started taking hormones. Times are changing. Get used to it. Wow. You're from Iowa. Lol. I have visited family in Colfax, Des Moines and Drakesville. So...I see where you're coming from. Lol.

Why should children be looking at the genitals of someone of the opposite sex?

You mean, like in books?
What happened before clothes were invented?
Did those people survive, do you think?

Do people actually look at each other's genitals, in bathrooms?
I always look straight ahead, that's standard protocol.
Women are in cubicles. I think...
-And as someone else pointed out, seated.
They also have 'innys' not 'outys', (from memory), so even less likely to be seen.

We as adults can take such things with a grain of salt.

I think you'll find that's probably just sweat.
However, if you are doing Tequila slammers out of there, well, it's probably best not to smoke. (And I speak here, from bitter experience.)

Do you really think it proper for my granddaughter to have some weirdo whip out his whanger right in front of her?
.............original message deleted.........

Who is going to monitor what goes on behind those doors?

I'm just guessing here; but some sort of behind-the-door-monitors?

Am I suppose to go into the ladies room with my granddaughter to monitor the situation?

Especially not you.
That will never hold-up, in court.

How sick does our society have to become before we quit calling a perversion a constitutional right?

I think you're getting really confused now, (and/or possibly hysterical?)
Surely the more "sick" we become, the more likely we are to call "perversions, cconstitutional rights", and the less likely we are to quit doing so?

See? You've made a mistake there. That's what happens when you don't think things through, properly.
It's lucky I happened along, or you'd have been all like, making society sicker and sicker, in the hope that it would stop, and it wouldn't have. You'd have just been making things worse.
You're welcome.

Where are the rights for my granddaughter? What about her rights?

Children's rights are the human rights of children with particular attention to the rights of special protection and care afforded to minors.[1] The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) of 1989 defines a child as any human person who has not reached the age of eighteen years.[2] Children's rights includes their right to association with both parents, human identity as well as the basic needs for physical protection, food, universal state-paid education, health care, and criminal laws appropriate for the age and development of the child, equal protection of the child's civil rights, and freedom from discrimination on the basis of the child's race, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, religion, disability, color, ethnicity, or other characteristics.

Why don't you take a stand for the young children who become subjected to the embarrassment they encounter when their privates could be seen by someone of the opposite sex?

Most priests only molested boys, so same sex.

Seriously: I think children shouldn't ever be embarrassed by theirs, or anyone else's bodies.
If they are, it's probably because their parents have 'issues'.

"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." Jiddu Krishnamurti

That makes absolutely no sense.
I have no control over other people, I just barely have any, over myself.

It's not just bathrooms---this also includes showers and locker rooms. For example, do you think a male to female transgendered person who still has male sex organs, should be allowed to shower and undress with women and girls?

If you have properly taught your child about human bodies, about respect of your own and other people's bodies, and about how bodies can be mixed or under construction or that some people feel like they are in the wrong body, then you have it covered. That's how you raise children, they should know what bodies look like, it's not dirty, it's not sexual, it's just human bodies. So if your child happens to see a body of the other sexes, they would most likely shrug and go on with life. Stop trying to make this complicated, it's not. Can you imagine if a child saw a scared body, or a deformed body, etc., should they be damaged, or should you explain it to them at the appropriate time, like not in front of the person as though they are an experiment. There is nothing damaging about a child seeing a nude adult of any gender unless you have scared the crap out of them and damaged them yourself.

Once again...I still think that the way to solve this and other problems is to not even have two different restrooms anyway. Anywhere. (For adults, versus children. See below.) The reasons we use to say that we need two...are actually the problems themselves that we create by creating the solution for those problems. A self creating unnecessary dilemma.

We should have just one restroom. And in that restroom, simply have partitions like there already are...the urinal area, for example, is partitioned off. But only like a stall is, with the line of urinals in this area, without the door. And the toilet stalls just like they are now.

Then, if so desired, a second restroom is specifically for small children, to always be accompanied by an adult. Children of both genders.

Instead of list them here...think of all of the reasons people have against this idea, the problems with it, and then think of how that applies to having male and female restrooms. Think of how it'd really be one way, versus whether or not it's really better the other way. Is a problem really solved with the current way? Is a problem that you think is created by the new way really nonexistent the current way? Would a problem still exist one way or the other, or would there be a different psychological and behavioral norm in one case or the other to address it? Might certain social hang-ups which justify male and female restrooms disappear with the new way? Would it completely render this whole gender/restroom issue moot altogether the new way? Would we still have anything to argue about?

^^^^^ Apparently, it's not quite as simple as that:

Is that like a "real" newspaper?
I only ask, because none of those alleged "5 times" were actually "trans-gender" individuals.
Just dirty little perv's wanting to peep at women.
I feel sure that men have been doing that, for ever.
Some may even have pretended to be "ladies" to gain access.
There's a difference between "cross-dressing", and "trans-gender".
EG. Tony Curtis famously "cross-dressed", in "Some Like it Hot" (? I think?)
And changed with the women.

I think "conservatives", (as talked about in that alleged article,) are 'making a mountain out of a molehill", just to "win" arguments against the "left".

And secondly, surely any "real" newspaper would have somebody to 'proof-read', before publication?
Hopefully, someone who could actually reed. (See what I did there?)
Even if only on-line.

Such facilities could become easy-access breading grounds for predators.

Those are presumably the "grounds" in which "predators" make bread
Even if they'd spelled it correctly, "breeding grounds" is a very insensitive choice of words, when discussing trans-gender people.

I'm neutral on the subject---however, I think both sides may have some valid points. No, the article isn't perfect---I'm sure there are more credible ones out there if one chooses to investigate further.

Damn... the other thread... about mixed use facilities... got deleted...

I was really hoping to see the reply to this...

I'll repost it here... where it may be seen... and replied to... before the meteor hits...

Well.....Joe.....while you're working on what you have decided to be developmentlly appropriate for children in bathrooms/locker rooms......why not go all in? Petition Disney for full frontal nudity.....maybe some pornography in grade school to teach reproduction?

Please... you're supposed to be smarter than that... certainly you can come up with a response that actually makes sense... on an intellectual level... There is absolutely no need for you to debase your intellect in the manner you have... with that silliness...

How about you have a litle gander at the history of gender-segregated sanitary facilities... change rooms... break areas... etc...

Try this for starters...

Maybe you might learn why there is still... in this day and age... a relative paucity of public sanitation facilities for women... compared to men... and no... it isn't due to "biological necessity"...

And... while we are on the subject... You brought it up... What... EXACTLY... would be "developmentally harmful" about a child seeing bared breasts... or even genitals for that matter... Please explain the EXACT harm that is done to a child... from a developmental perspective...

If you can... that is...

What does wholesomeness have to do with teaching your children about human bodies? Do you think keeping children ignorant is keeping them wholesome? What's the opposite of progressive? Regressive

There's some irony that the President who is saying that he'll reverse the previous legislation, has a "track record" of walking into the changing rooms of young women himself,
but not even bothering to dress as a woman first.
He's pretty "freaky" too, apparently.

I'll bet "Mar a Lago" has world-class "water-sports" facilities.
Then there's all that pĂșssy-grabbing.
And all the alleged sexual assaults. What happened about them?

YOU voted for a degenerate flaxen-haired gonk, with a porn-star-wife.
A man who 'rates' women, publicly, not just in the 'locker-room'.
A man who said "If she wasn't my daughter......"

But you were prepared to overlook all that depravity and dishonesty.
But now feign simpering, coquettish 'innocence', while cheering for Genghis Khan.
It's just not convincing, I'm afraid.

What all this has to do with "gay rights", is completely beyond me.

Get with the times will ya? Wholesomeness is no longer in vogue. It's all part of progress. Ya know, progressive. The doctrine beholden by the liberal left. These people are the cat's meow. We should all take up their banner. NOT

odd comment to make when mainstream american television espouses conservative praying to god (let my baby win !!!) parents that parade and sexually exploit their toddlers . .

Only just read this delirious rant.

Just as you won't agree with me saying that the reason you and I are so opposed in our thinking is because I serve one master while you serve the other.

I don't know which "master" you serve, but I don't serve anybody.

I cannot but help to think of Jesus' 40 days spent in the wilderness every time I read a post by you.

That's just because you're prepared to believe in unsubstantiated myths, whereas I'm not.

What these beliefs do affect is the world that we live in.

True that.
People with similar irrational beliefs are murdering tens of thousands of people, because they also believe that they "serve a master".

We are both diligent and adamant to follow the instructions given by our masters.

OK. You're scaring me now.
I bet if I admitted I was actually the devil, right now, and that I was "in your head", I could make you do something really cra-aazy.

Before some other antagonist comes out with the ole "but Jesus accepted everyone" lingo,

Yeah. That won't be me.

recognize the difference between tolerate, accept, and embrace. No, I won't embrace and fight for that which is apparently perverted and twisted by the master I don't serve.

Errr, I don't remember asking you to do that.
Isn't that a line from "Count Dracula?

You like to think you think on your own two feet without any influence but you go by the Bible as well,

I like to think.
Everything I've ever read influences me, everything I've ever seen, and everything I've ever heard.
Garbage in = garbage out.
Eg. Your post.

it's just that what you stand for is in opposition rather than accordance, but it is still your unacknowledged guideline.

Actually no.
The teachings of "christianity" are loosely socialist, it's just that "christians don't adhere to the basic message.
If they did, well, there wouldn't be all the poverty and income inequality which we see most, in "christian" countries, or the poverty in those countries exploited and abused by them.
And the churches wouldn't be the corrupt, wealthy institutions which they've become.
I'm far more "christian" than most "christians".

Eg, Filthy-rich "christians", like Trump, and other right-wing republicans, calling for bans, because they've got absolutely no compassion for refugees.
It's just all the myths, drivel, "woo" and hypocrisy that I oppose.

I've been there, done that in my younger days. There was one winner after the 40 days despite how sly the adversary thought he was.

I'm not "sly", you need to cut down on the 'holy water'.
That whole myth is bullshit. No-one can survive in the desert , without water, for 40 days. Fact.
And yet, you believe it's true, because some non-defined sheep-herder wrote it all down, some 100 years after his alleged death.
Do you know what the phrase "critical analysis" means?

You see, you can't win against someone who has seen and lived both sides of the coin. There is nothing new you can say to me. I know what you're thinking before you even write it.

Erm.. I'm not trying to "win" anything. I'm just giving my opinion.

I don't think you even know what you're thinking, much less me.
Why not try thinking for yourself, instead of "serving masters"?

We're living in the 21st century, and you're hitting me with myths written 2,000 years ago.

I could show you "eyewitness accounts", from just 500 years ago, where many people swore they saw other people change into cats.
Would you believe that too?

I could take you to a dozen asylums, where people swear that "god" is talking to them, right now.
And they "see devils and demons".
Do you believe them?
If not, why not?

Do you think mental illness never happened in the past?
Do you think that people never had "episodes", or hallucinations?
The only difference, is that people believed them back then.

Frightened, superstitious people, who had absolutely no idea what caused all the seemingly random, bad things that happened to them.
Floods, fires, earthquakes, volcanoes, drought, pests and diseases, and deaths.
All were either "the wrath of god", or "evil spirits".
Until only about 50 years ago, people still thought that epileptics were "possessed".
This shit is fvcking gibberish!
Primitive, superstitious bollocks.
That's my opinion, and millions of other people's opinions too.
That's all the atheists, and all the believers in other religions, who believe in their own versions of primitive, superstitious bollocks, but also think that yours, is all wrong.

Now you can carry on convincing yourself, that I'm the "devil incarnate", and/or that I'm sort of "evil spirit", if you like.(we've just got rid of one of those, and along comes another).
Or you can metaphorically slap yourself back-out of your self-induced delirium, and back to reality.
I don't care much, either way.
Just keep your hateful bullshit to yourself,
or at least, point it away from me.

Well I get that bathrooms aren't that big of a deal but a boy or someone having a penis in a female changing room is a little too far. If your going to do that why have boy and girl changing rooms just have them all change in the same one then. If it is someone uncomfortable changing with boys due to the process of a change in body then maybe a third dressing room will suffice.

What I think is going to be certain issues is a story I read today about a girl wrestler who is in the process of changing into a man. He/she isn't allowed to wrestle the boys via the rules but wrestles the girls and straight up dominates them due to hormone treatments she is receiving. The hormone treatments are within the rules so she maintains her right to wrestle the girls.

Even though Dee never answered my question about "latent racism" awhile back...and instead stood idly by while some alt-right trollbot appeared from nowhere and hit me over the head with a frying pan, I will entertain her question here.

Dee wrote:

Question for liberals:

If you find it ok for 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13 & 14 year olds to "choose" to be transgender and take hormones, etc, , why couldn't Yianoplous"choose" to be with a man at 14?

First of all, I don't support any permanent changing of body parts or taking of any hormones til 18. Dressing/stylin' like your identified gender, fine. After the age of 18, have at it....chop off what ya want....take whatever hormone you want.....I just feel terribly sorry for someone who's gender identity is so mismatched that s/he feels s/he has to mutilate their body. Must be a hellish existence. But I just don't think someone under 18 is really mature enough to rationally weigh the repercussions that last a lifetime.

The distinction is the latter situation you have an "adult" taking advantage of a minor. ...and you'd have all kinds of pervs (defined as an adult wishing to have sex with someone under legal age ie. 18) hitting on minors trying to pleasure him/herself at the expense of said minor. The former situation has no connotation of any sexual acts with adults, the latter does.. It's one thing to self-mutilate (even though don't support it til 18), yet another to be seduced into acts by an devious adult.

He said that he wasn't being taken advantage of, that he was the aggressor ( that may be too strong a word) and did it willingly.
If a teen can make those other decision, why not that one? Why is 18 the magic age? Oddly, the society doesn't want you to smoke or drink at 18.

I, consistently, don't think that a young child or teen should make ANY of those decisions. (Sex change, involvement with adult, abortion, etc.)
I see that you don't think that they should either.

It is also interesting to me that a society that encourages and approves a of all kinds of debauchery when it comes to sex, ran him out of town ( please don't respond to that literally, geeze) for what he said.

Maybe what really ended it for him was saying, joking with Bill Maher, that he would never hire gay people because after all the drugging, drinking and sexing every night they don't get to work on time.
