VP Joe Biden.... Oops I did it Again... He opened his mouth!Page 5 of 6    (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)

Can you ever get down to reality?
Have you forgotten what happened with your last Republican president?
Bush's Final Approval Rating: 22 Percent
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2009/01/16/opinion/polls/main4728399.shtml
That makes president Carter assertion very truthful.

OT
Although I did not vote for our last Republican President it did he actually had the highest rating of any president...Even after declaring war on Iraq, the previous president hit another high with his approval ratings starting to go down almost 2 months later, reaching the 50% ratings the first few months of 2004.
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls/archive/?poll_id=19
All one has to do is listen to the CBS reporters to know they got the gist of the billboard...

ON Topic --- A poster asserted as to our VP's current approval ratings which I researched and found to be currently higher than the previous 3 presidents and the president. It does appear by the Washington Post article our Current VP and past VP have not that much different approval % ratings for this point of their terms in office.

It is kinda odd that Dan Quale is no longer the worst vice president in history. lol. I think it is safe to say that Biden has aquired that title by leaps and bounds.
He has? When did that happen?

Now we just have to wait for Obama to surpass Carter as the worst president. Of course FDR held the title for a short period, but then redeemed himself by actually fighting a war to win and winning. Then of course, came Jimmy. Only those who lived through that period can begin to understand haw bad he was. Now is Obama chasing Jimmy's heels. I don't think he is going to have any opportunity to redeem himself. He will simply be remembered as the guy who made it worse. Much, Much worse. Lol
LMAO. Such wishful thinking. I hope that helps you to sleep better, thinking and wishing for the President to fail.

Hate is a pretty intense emotion. Hate can eat you alive. Good luck with that.

I think it's hilarious and apparently a lot of others do as well. Lighten up already and get a life.

And what's with all these people and their fascination with polls?

I think you will find that just as many were angry with Richard Cheney's outburst(me included) as with Joseph Biden's...
Well it's good to see that some are not considering this a bipartisan issue.

I do wonder if a lot of the incensed attitude that many are expressing might just be some sort of "put on" ... sort of putting on a show.

I don't think it's such a big deal ... especially when just loudly whispered. It's the "shout-outs" that I consider for inappropriate.

Teabaggers are a bit thin-skinned if that's all it takes to insult one of 'em.

I will presume that you do not know what is meant by "teabagger". It is not related to the term "tea party" in any way. If you find that term to be a compliment, then start calling your boss and the local policemaen that name. See how they feel about it. Lol. Otherwise, feel free to call me by my name. And I will do the same for you. I prefer that we stick to the debate and not sink to childish name calling. I'm not saying that you would use that term, I am simply saying that insults from any poster are not helpful in any way.
Whatever happened to the Democratic party being the party of love and compassion? I think that era died with JFK. There is far to much hate from the liberal side of the debate.

Hmmm . . Republicans set slaves free. Passed the civil rights act. Cut taxes. Created jobs. And many more things. The Dems, used to be for the people but now they are for control of the people. They have been taken over by the socialist and the communist. They say "Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your country can do for you". Lol. Anyway it has changed since JFK has it not?
Anyway, back to Biden. Looks like he is going to make it through today without saying something stupid, Four days in a row. Go Joe!

Barack Obama is not a 'technical' president. He is the duly elected President of the United States of America

Dang = I thought everyone knew that he was the duly elected and sworn president of our country. Don't think I saw any posts in any threads , except msg 113 in this thread saying anything about "technical" President.

Barack Hussein Obama was duly sworn in as president on January 20, 2009 by Chief Justice of the United States John G. Roberts, Jr. in Washington, D.C.

On January 20, 2009 Joseph Robinette Biden was also properly sworn in and by Associate Justice John Paul Stevens as Vice President of our country.

As to the relationship between the president and vice president that seems to change depending on who one talks to, what administration one is talking about and if they are on the campaign trail.

Joseph Biden has been heard referring to the president formally and informally as his boss, his friend, his partner, Mr. President and I assume others could add to this list.

Following are just a couple of the remarks Joseph Biden has made regarding the president.

"I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy," Biden said. "I mean, that's a storybook, man."

"Barack Obama is probably the most exciting candidate that the Democratic or Republican Party has produced at least since I've been around," Biden said on the call. "And he's fresh. He's new. He's smart. He's insightful. And I really regret that some have taken totally out of context my use of the world 'clean.'"
Biden said he was referring to a phrase used by his mother.
"My mother has an expression: clean as a whistle, sharp as a tack," Biden said.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/31/biden.obama/

Obama was the first president in decades not to attend the Gridiron Club dinner during his first year in office. He spent the weekend at Camp David with his family, skipping the Saturday night event because he was busy preparing for Easter, Biden said.
"He thinks it's about him," Biden said of the holiday. http://www.gopusa.com/news/2009/march/0323_biden_obama.shtml

From message 106 ...
Hey give Joseph Biden a break, at least he has a better current approval rating as VP then his technical bossthe president does.

And what does any of that have to do with any kind of "Oops" on Joe Biden's behalf?

OT ...
Who cares if he says the "F" word? I think it was hilarious. (But I didn't hear it. I just found out about it on the news.)

It really is no big deal.
It never made anyone go deaf.
It sure never made anyone go blind.
And by the looks of this thread, it never made anyone go mute.

His "fvckup" never killed anyone, or caused them any physical harm in any way.

So what's the "fvcking" big deal?

Barack Obama is not a 'technical' president.

Sorry Cotter, according to fact check the story you posted is highly unlikely.

http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/did_president_bush_call_the_constitution_a.html

There's no record of Bush ever using these words in public and no other news organization has reported him using them privately. Thompson based his report on three sources whom he didn't name. He gave the date of the quote as "last month," which would put it sometime in November 2005.

Hey Joseph Biden is the "Technical Boss of the senate", whereas some people call this role of the VP -- "President of the Senate", though convention does not give him too much real power over what the senate actually passes when there is a tie, just as the president can't do think like fire the VP without just legislative cause and approval.

We find in the constitution the VP is given 3 formal duties/roles

"The Constitution gives the vice president the role of presiding over the Senate, and voting in the Senate if there is a tie. The vice president's only other formal responsibility is taking over the presidency if the president dies.

Over the years the role of the VP has changed and varied, usually depending on who the president was and/or who the Vice president was .

Presiding over the Senate means basically running the debates and overseeing operations there, Brace said. Many veeps have skipped even that responsibility, he said, only showing up on the rare occasions a tie-breaker is needed.
Historically, the vice president's level of government involvement has varied. More recently, second-in-commands have taken a more hands-on role, Brace said, with Al Gore, and perhaps Cheney, being some of the most active.
John Nance Gardner, Franklin D. Roosevelt's VP, was one of the least involved, and famously said the vice presidency wasn't worth "a warm bucket of spit." (Reporters allegedly changed the spelling of the last word for print).
"The role is ambiguous, it's changed over time," Brace told LiveScience. "Traditionally, they didn’t give speeches, they didn't travel, they were figureheads. They were lying in wait for the presidency. It's more important now because presidents are seeking any way they can to mobilize public support. Vice presidents can be an instrument in their efforts to reach out to the public."
http://www.livescience.com/culture/081003-vice-president-role.html

In looking at Joseph Biden as Vice President his role has varied from other VPs and while in office, just as his formal and informal relationship with the president has.

Prior to being chosen as the Vice Presidential Candidate Joseph Biden opened his mouth a whole lot about the president with some not too positive comments.

Biden on Obama
August 24, 2008

While competing with Barack Obama for the Democratic nomination, Senator Joe Biden had some less-than-glowing comments:

Feb. 2007 on Obama's appeal: "I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean that's a storybook, man."

Aug. 2007 on Obama's experience: "I think he can be ready, but right now I don't believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training."

Aug. 2007 on Obama's threat to go into Pakistan after Al Qaeda: "The way to deal with it is not to announce it, it's to do it. . . . The last thing you want to do is telegraph to the folks in Pakistan that we're about to violate . . . their sovereignty."

Aug. 2007 on Obama's pledge to meet with leaders of rogue nations: "Would I make a blanket commitment to meet unconditionally with the leaders of each of those countries within the first year I was president? Absolutely, positively no."

Sept. 2007 on Obama's Iraq plan: "My impression is he thinks that if we leave, somehow the Iraqis are going to have an epiphany. I've seen zero evidence of that." http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/08/24/biden_on_obama?mode=PF

And even with all his bloopers and gaffes, Joseph Biden still has a decent approval rating, especially in comparison to the President, Congress over all and his political party the Democrats.

I wonder ... what is a "technical" President?

In looking at Joseph Biden as Vice President his role has varied from other VPs and while in office, just as his formal and informal relationship with the president has.
Not that his "role" of VP is of importance, but for certain, I think we can be assured that no matter what little "fvckup" might slip out, at least VP Biden will never be a "torturer" ... and I highly doubt he'll ever manipulate our President into invading a sovereign country. Ya know?

Obama is not a 'technical' boss or a 'technical' president.
He is the 'in fact' president--which has what to do with this topic?

Some just jump to conclusions about what comes/came out of a President's and/or VP's mouth without even totally checking their information . Currently with most President's and VP's, including Joseph Biden there is You Tube.

'You Tube'?

..."President of the Senate", though convention does not give him too much real power over what the senate actually passes when there is a tie, just as the president can't do think like fire the VP without just legislative cause and approval.

Yes; you can find that information in any high school civics text book.
How is this relevant to the president being a 'technical' boss, and/or how is it relevant to this topic?

We find in the constitution the VP is given 3 formal duties/roles

Uh, yeah. Ask any high school sophomore about the duties of the president and vice president--they can give you all of that information. And?

In looking at Joseph Biden as Vice President his role has varied from other VPs and while in office, just as his formal and informal relationship with the president has.

And?
Basically--so, what?
What IS your point?

Prior to being chosen as the Vice Presidential Candidate Joseph Biden opened his mouth a whole lot about the president with some not too positive comments.

Go back a few years to the McCain/Bush campaigns--you'll find evidence of some of the ugliest 'not too positive comments' in American political history.
Again--what is your point?

You used the term 'technical boss'.
I am asking for clarification, not a list of synonyms and not a dissertation of the vice president's duties.
What did you mean when you said 'technical boss'?

There is even a website dedicated to Joseph Biden bloopers..Called Joe Biden Bloopers

As they said when there is a microphone or camera around our VP there is never a dull or moment.

Guess our poor VP is destined to go down in history as the "Gaffe Machine". or maybe it will eventually be the VP Gaffe Machine or maybe even a Nobel Gaffe Machine Prize .

Oh well elected officials have a special talent and our VP has the talent of opening his mouth and going "Oops I did it Again."

Have you ever wondered why some politicians say the things that they do? Ask them a question and make sure the mic is on and the cameras are rolling. Our 47th Vice President doesn't even need to be asked a question.
Joe Biden consistently opens his mouth with no thought of what he will say, but you have to admit that it makes for great sound bites. Known for his off the wall and unscripted comments, it is only fitting to have a website dedicated to bringing you those unforgettable moments.

There is never a dull moment when Joe sees a microphone or tv camera. His comments have led many to classify him as the ultimate "gaffe machine". To say that he is a loose canon is an understatement. After being a politician for over two decades, you would think that he would be more cautious with his responses. Then again if he was, he would be a bore and we can't have that now, can we?

This site is solely intended for humor. We invite you to send us any humorous video(s) that you have encountered that's not on this site.http://joebidenbloopers.com/

Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory, which is now the home of the vice president.

No wonder the Administration hasn't done anything about the foreclosure crisis - Obama got the White House and Biden got his bunker!

Biden told his dinnermates about the existence of a secret bunker under the old U.S. Naval Observatory...

As with all hearsay, there is another side to the story.

According to Elizabeth Alexander, Biden's spokeswoman:"What the vice president described in his comments was not - as some press reports have suggested - an underground facility, but rather, an upstairs workspace in the residence, which he understood was frequently used by Vice President Cheney and his aides.

"That workspace was converted into an upstairs guestroom when the Bidens moved into the residence,'' Alexander said. "There was no disclosure of classified information.''

[Democrats raise money off of Biden's F-bomb
Posted: March 31st, 2010 04:39 PM ET

From CNN Political Editor Mark Preston

Organizing for America is using this T-shirt to raise funds.
(CNN) – President Obama's political organization agrees with Vice President Joe Biden: "Health Reform is a BFD."

While using the four-letter word could land an elementary school kid in detention, Organizing for America is embracing it with the hope of raising some cash.

OFA, the president's political arm housed at the Democratic National Committee, is using Biden's now infamous phrase on a T-shirt to commemorate the signing of health care reform into law.

Donors who give at least $25 will receive "a limited edition 'Health Reform is a BFD' T-shirt in a super-soft, fine jersey (men's) or baby rib (women's) cotton fabric," according to a new fundraising page posted Wednesday on OFA's Web site.

A jubilant Biden made the remark after he finished introducing Obama before the president signed the landmark legislation last week. As he was stepping away from the podium, the vice president leaned in to Obama and said, "This is a big f***king deal."

A microphone picked up the vice president's comments. A short time later, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs wrote on his Twitter account: "And yes Mr. Vice President, you're right ... "

Now, OFA is comparing the signing of the health care reform legislation into law to other momentous occasions.

"There are things that are a big deal - birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game," OFA wrote in a fundraising note. "And then there are things that are a BFD, like delivering health insurance to 32 million Americans."

Brad Woodhouse, a DNC spokesman, told CNN he thinks it is important for Democrats to highlight the importance of health care reform.

"Health reform is a huge and historic deal that will benefit American families and small businesses," Woodhouse said. "We and our supporters agree with the Vice President – health reform is a big bleeping deal."]

I'd take his misspeaks and foul mouth over Quayle's lack of a functioning neuron any day of the week.

Well I just ordered myself a t-shirt and FYI, if you want an extra, it has to be ordered separately. I'll be getting my mother one too. She will be thrilled. My money is well-spent.

Anyone who uses the Internet should have enough intelligence to sort out the false stories from the legitimate ones.

The post above (message # 127) is a clear example of a story planted by the Republicans but didn't go anywhere. Not one news outlet picked it up, simply because the story is as false as the face of those who try to use it to attack a man who has served this country with honor for a long time.

Indeed it is an obvious plant, as Biden, with a family background that includes several alcoholics, is a non-drinker, as this Mother Jones article lampoons several members of the right and celebs who "blame it on the booze"

http://motherjones.com/mojo/2007/02/biden-should-seek-treatment-his-obvious-alcoholism

Biden actually stepped up to the plate and took responsibility for his verbal gaffes unlike some of these other douches...

Negative impressions of drinking alcohol in the Biden and Finnegan families and in the neighborhood led to Joe Biden becoming a teetotaler.[8][22] Biden suffered from stuttering through much of his childhood and into his twenties;[23] he overcame it via long hours spent reciting poetry in front of a mirror.[14]

I wish I could say it was unbelievable, the kind of slimy lies and mudslinging that people will stoop to when they have nothing of any merit to actually contribute...but if it walks like a muckraking troll, and smells like one...

---just as the president can't do think like fire the VP without just legislative cause and approval.
I'm not sure what the poster there was trying to say, but it kinda sounds like "the president can't fire the VP without just legislative cause and approval".

I have to wonder why the President would want to fire the VP? Just for saying the health care bill is a big fuking deal?

I'm going to have to get me one of those t-shirts, but I heard they're already sold out. That's okay, I'm a patient man, I can wait until they make more.

From the OP ---
Is VP Joe Biden a Republican mole?
Is Joe Biden single handedly trying to destroy not only the Obama administration but also the United States of America.
Or is VP Joe Biden just numbskull?
The answer to all of the above questions is "No".

Oh well some people just never learn good manners and respectability........
So true. If someone is going to address what comes out of others' mouths, then I'd say the racists and bigots really fall into that category. With their "n*##er" name-calling and spitting on politicians, I wonder if things like that coming out of peoples' mouths bothers you too?

The worst ones are the ones who try to convince everyone they are not (racist or bigoted) and their words tell on them every time they open their mouths or post in here with their racist and bigoted undertones. I wonder if they realize that it's really very apparent? Who do they think they're fooling?

Oh well, back to the original topic. I see the Democrats stand to make some money off of Joe Biden's latest verbal "fudge up". But then again, if the Republicans can use Joe "You Lie" Wilson and John "Hell No" Boehner to raise money, then I think it's just fine that the Democrats use the BFD comment to raise money as well.

Democrats raise money off of Biden's F-bomb

(CNN) -- President Obama's political organization agrees with Vice President Joe Biden: "Health Reform is a BFD."

While using a four-letter word could land an elementary school kid in detention, Organizing for America is embracing it with the hope of raising some cash.

"There are things that are a big deal -- birthdays, anniversaries, the NCAA Championship game," OFA wrote in a fundraising note.

"We and our supporters agree with the vice president -- health reform is a big bleeping deal."

This man makes America into a laughingstock.
I believe it makes Biden, and by close association, Obama look like fools.
Sort of the way D1ckless Cheney made himself look like a fool when he yelled (not whispered) at someone to "Fvck Off" only he didn't have to make his boss look like a laughing stock because he already was one.

I found the following article quite by chance and just got such a great laugh from it that I have to share it since I know so many out there would really like to tell D1ckless Cheney to go do himself.
