Wow you actually topped the your first statement.I wear liberal like a badge of honor now a days,if it was not for us,people like Bush would have forested for profit even more than he did in federally protected forests ,or continued unobstructed torturing people without a shred of representation at such fine places as Gitmo,or all the other Black sites he had ,he wiped his ass with human rights, and we were the only ones telling him he was wrong, all the others that did not, well lacked a moral conscience like he did, its so much better to be told your a liberal than be compared to one having extreme conservative beliefs, ones like you just comes across as hateful, all you Archie Bunker ,I'm so much better than you, types just seem to fit this one sized box.

I pay plenty of taxes,I work hard, its a pleasure to help fund outstanding organizations as those that help low income people,I'm far more upset having had to have my tax money wasted on a false cause war based on lies of weapons of mass destruction and financing criminal organizations like Halliburton and wasting billions flying off to Mars at a time of such distress in this country, and I'm ashamed that we one of the richest countries in the world that is one of the only countries that do not cover all their people medically, and why is that, well thats easy, its strictly because of vocal people like you that feel your the only one that pays taxes and after all a low income citizen should just get off his lazy butt and get a job like you have .

Its narrow sighted views and your hard fight to make sure we do not cover the downtrodden otherwise you would not have such disdain for fine organization like ACORN that looks after our less fortunate, boy with such absolute lack of compassion for the downtrodden .Its republican/GOP/conservative principles that got us to the point we are at now.

Finally we have someone like Obama that unlike you actually cares about all the citizens, yes, even the low income people. At least I was smart enough to vote in a president that holds a Nobel Peace prize, thats so much better than before ,heck the last two guys,we're still deciding if we will try them for crimes.Actually the last 20 years of Republican majority has been embarrassing.

The Truth About ACORN's Voter Registration Drives

Why Is ACORN Being Accused of “Voter Fraud” Across the Country?

As we write this, ACORN is being accused of “voter fraud” in 12 states, including the well-publicized raid of our Las Vegas office.

This is a coordinated national effort being run by the Republican National Committee and John McCain’s presidential campaign and executed through various surrogates including Fox News, the NY Post, Lou Dobbs, and various Republican elected and ex-elected officials across the country.

This is a repeat of the same attacks on ACORN’s exemplary voter participation work that we suffered in 2004 and again in 2006. The 2006 attacks have been conclusively linked as being at the heart of the US Attorney scandal in which nine US Attorneys were fired for failure to pursue vigorously enough accusations of fraud against ACORN voter registration drives.

Republican former US Attorney in New Mexico, David Iglesias said he was fired because he refused White House pressure to charge ACORN with voter fraud he knew it had not committed.

US attorney, Bradley Schlozman, who did politicize prosecutions against former ACORN canvassers was forced to acknowledge under cross examination by the Senate Judiciary Committee that ACORN was the victim of fraud by its employees and ACORN had caught the employees and had identified them to law enforcement.

This scandal resulted in the resignation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.

Unfortunately, it seems that the motivating factor behind these attacks is fear of an expanded electorate that more accurately reflects the citizenry of the United States. We find it disappointing that rather than seeking the support of these new voters and listening to their demands for jobs, affordable housing, health care, living wages, and better schools, conservatives and partisan operatives would rather create an atmosphere of fear, intimidation, and chaos. In so doing they feel they can suppress the vote in the current election and pave the way for new initiatives to shrink and narrow the electorate for future ones.

Below is a compilation of some of the best reporting on the Department of Justice scandal and how the press has covered voter fraud allegations in the past. Below that there is a host of links to recent stories and blog postings that provide a more balanced look at ACORN’s work.

Did ACORN just come into existence in 2008? I thought they had been around for awhile but apparently not since they weren't able to influence two of the closest and more disputed elections prior in the favor of the Democrats. If ACORN is such a meticulously corrupt organization capable of such election influence, why is it that Gore or Kerry lost questionable elections when just a slight breeze to the left would have decided in their favor?

Had the GOP not lost it's ability to sell itself on it's own merit, had McCain been allowed to run his own campaign as John McCain on those merits, and had the public not had to suffer 8 years of unprecedented and hard to beat ineptitude the OP likely would still not know that ACORN existed.

Bigotry AND ignorance...shame...crying shame...

I think ACORN's voter registration fraud is what got them. In Seattle they only got a small fine and a few were prosecuted.

I don't know how many, MANY times this has been pointed out, but I shall endeavor yet once more, to enlighten the darkened mind...

ACORN turned themselves in. Got it?

There was no attempt to cover up fraud--ACORN SELF-REPORTED.
Didja see that? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

'SELF-REPORTED' means that ACORN told on themselves, as they were required BY LAW to do.

I mean, seriously...

Oh Geelee I feel for you .Of course we get it,so did all the fifth graders out there, but hatred is a powerful thing,it closes the eyes,it closes the ears, and it numbs ones ability to reason with recorded fact. When you think of all the threads we have been on ,think of the top three cheerleaders for the other side of any of the topics, hasn't every simple fact told ,been explained to us by them, that it actually meant something other than the meaning we,the majority, thought it meant. You could show a copy of the police report, and the source would become in question to take the attention off the report,or like many times the very best concrete proof is just ignored as if it was never told, like if they don't acknowledge it,its not really there.

I'm starting to think we could start a thread on how to make corn muffins and we would receive strong opposition from the same people.

Thank you, Smilin'.

I am going to give it one more try, just cuz I feel so darned optimistic!

Here is an excerpt from JOURNAL senior writer Michael Winship.
Perhaps you've heard of Bill Moyers? It's his JOURNAL.
I know this isn't going to do any good, but it's one more effort on the part of those who cherish Truth, Apple Pie, and the American Way.

...the ACORN “election fraud” story is one of those urban legends, like fake moon landings and alligators in the sewers, and it appears three or four weeks before every recent national election with the regularity of the swallows returning to Capistrano. First, the basics: ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, is an activist group working with low and moderate income families that, among many other things, registers voters. To do this they hire people to go around signing up the unregistered, killing two birds with one stone – giving employment to people who need it (some with criminal records) and providing the opportunity to vote to members of minority communities whose voices all too often go unheard.

What happens is that some of those hired to do the registering, who are paid by the name, make people up. As a result, you’ll discover that among the registrants are such obvious fakes as Mickey Mouse and the starting line-up of the Dallas Cowboys, among others.

This is where the Republican meme kicks in. As they have in past elections (although now louder and more angrily than ever), the GOP has made ACORN the red flag du jour as the party tries to mobilize its conservative base and, allegedly, attempts to suppress the vote and distract attention from accusations of election tampering made against them, too.

The charge is that these fake registrations will create havoc at the polls. On Tuesday morning, former Republican Senators John Danforth and Warren Rudman, chairs of Senator McCain’s Honest and Open Elections Committee, held a press conference and described the results of the bad seeds in ACORN’s registration program as “a potential nightmare.” Danforth said he was concerned “that this election night and the days that follow will be a rerun of 2000, and even worse than 2000.”

John McCain raised it at Wednesday night’s final debate and went further, adding, “We need to know the full extent of Senator Obama's relationship with ACORN, who [sic] is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history in this country, maybe destroying the fabric of democracy…”

Obama replied, “ACORN is a community organization. Apparently, what they have done is they were paying people to go out and register folks. And apparently, some of the people who were out there didn't really register people; they just filled out a bunch of names. Had nothing to do with us. We were not involved.”

Which is not to say Obama has not been associated with ACORN in the recent past. He has. As he said in the debate, as a lawyer, he joined with the group in partnership with the US Justice Department to implement a motor voter registration law in Illinois – allowing folks to register to vote at their local DMV. His work as a community organizer bought him into contact with ACORN, the organization received money from the Woods Fund while he was a board member there and his presidential campaign gave ACORN more than $800,000 to help with get out the vote campaigns during the primary season – but not, apparently, for registration drives.

All of this distracts from several important points. ACORN has registered 1.3 million voters, and maintains that in virtually every instance they are the ones who have reported the incidents of fraud.

As the organization asserted in a response to Senator McCain, “ACORN hired 13,000 field workers to register people to vote. In any endeavor of this size, some people will engage in inappropriate conduct. ACORN has a zero tolerance policy and terminated any field workers caught engaging in questionable activity. At the end of the day, as ACORN is paying these people to register voters, it is ACORN that is defrauded.”
Arrests have been made, as well they should be...

As my colleague Bill Moyers reported, “Hundreds of thousands of legal voters may have been dumped in recent years, many without ever being notified.” The report describes a "process that is shrouded in secrecy, prone to error, and vulnerable to manipulation."

Hardly reassuring words if you want democracy to work, and sadly, not an urban legend, but the simple truth.

I do hope that the words weren't too big to understand.

I watched the video, and realized it was not the video I watched many months ago,I watched the link a post had added and he leaned down 3 inches to a short Saudi senior person.I typed in Obama bowed to Saudi in search engine and its a different video and a different leader,he is filmed behind a mans body,so its blocked , but still his body tends to look similiar to one that would do a quick bow.I tend to agree by seeing this video, even though he is blocked in the video, you see enough of his body to raise a fantastic argument.I do tend to agree.I'd bet money on he bowed!

Now,if it was, which I think it was,who cares, big deal.I cannot believe to type of crap that upsets you people.I only disagreed many months ago and yesterday because a post showed a different video and I was still referring to that video in question assumning its the one that everyone had seen ,it is not, there are two different videos out there, and of different leaders but both in robes, both Saudis.

Once again,Big deal,really,big deal.Sorry for the slip up,really

Anyways this thread is about Obamagate, and my last post stated how on earth are you blaming this on him or even connecting him !
