These were written for/about Donna (the late Cdn Reader):

How quiet you are!
It seems as if
every day you grow more silent
as if you were delving
into layers of unspeech
previously unknown
to the truculent,
the deeply hurt or the profoundly deaf.
*
Talking with Donna

You may talk with hundreds
and still feel unheard,
unassuaged, or

you can talk with one
and feel as if hundreds
have been listening attentively
storming love your way
*
Donna, the day before

A silence settles back
over the day just past, a day
I spent talking, to everyone within reach,
of my grief over the imminent death
of my friend. I talked
and talked
and everyone was sympathetic

but my grief was not assuaged

and my words and theirs
were swallowed up by the silence
encroaching from later on
*

And this one was written for Brizo, inspired by the metaphor of a bird in the poem she'd posted just before this:

Birds in adjacent cages
pondering
each other's dreams.

Alright that's enough, before he calls me a faggot again... :)

your secret is safe with me.... He'd call me a faggot too if I wasn't already a girl...

This was written for Bobby_7, we lost him to an accident a few years ago...a wonderful guy with a long rhyming thread and he also wrote short stories...

Bobby_7

you took me in
right from the start
encouraged me
to write my heart
I always knew
that if I rhymed
I'd leave it in
your thread in time

and then you left
got an advance
to write a book
you took a chance
and lived your dream
so good on you
you made us wish
that we could, too

you crossed my path
and made it better
I wish I'd written you
a letter...
and I will miss you
gentle friend
I'll see you when
I reach the end
you lived life well
with lots of class
how sad we are
to hear you passed

coming from you (you gorgeous thing) that's quite a compliment...I'm sure you've heard this before, but you've got Betty Davis eyes...

I thought you'd left us, so it's nice to see you out and about!

and River, I knew I'd find this if I looked, I wrote this for the dog....

shelf life

there's no shame
being on the shelf
you still got game
pace yourself
and don't jump down
till you find a girl
that turns your heart around
you'll know it's right
if you talk all night
and you don't feel like a clown
'cause you didn't score...
you just want more
and she puts a grin on your face
with things she talks about
instead of putting out
and makes you want to shout
and talk to your dad
about the coolest girl
you never had
yet
but someday
you will get

he didn't like the ending where he has to wait...

'dancing with angels' so touched my heart...
thank you, dear jujub
for all that you are
all that you share here
all that you be
and your boys three
your life stories
move me deeply
as tears rise without surprise
quickly filling my eyes

Seahorsey and WeAre1, thanks for your continued contributions, I really appreciate you remembering this thread :)

this was written for cinderalla, when she became ill.

Health prayer for Cyn

may healing come
we'll hold you up
and give you faith
and strength for keeping
a wish is power
we wish you health
our love for keeping
to protect you
restore you
while you are sleeping

This I had written for my dear friend lucidmoments:

She is love.

My friend
across the miles
Grace
under pressure
More than a poet,
but poetry
in motion.
A confidante,
cheerleader
giver of advice
cheerful voice
contagious laugh
source of strength
when I'm weak
She refuels me

She is love.

Love you, V!

^^^^she is? good for her!

This was written for Jer, when he once left the site. We kept in touch via email but I missed seeing his thread every day...

Bye Jer

so you are gone
suddenly
this space is dead
dawning realization
that we'll never
laugh together
in quite the same
configuration
because you
are missing
and there is
a hole
in our fabric

Awwww I love that! He is a gem isn't he?

I wrote this for softEDGE when took a fall and really hurt herself...

I sat and waved my magic wand,
and said Abracadabra
In hopes I'd work some magic
And find a masseuse for ya

Was hoping he'd be there waiting
when you returned from work
I think I grabbed something else instead
Cuz what appeared was just a dork

I said no way will this dork do
Not for my friend softEDGE!
So I took him to the mountainside
And shoved him off the ledge!

Tomorrow I'll try this trick once more
You could really use a hottie
One who'll get your blood a'flowin
And work that tension out'ya body!

(this is a prime example why I rarely every rhyme lol)

? I like it, you can always rhyme with me...

There is also a cinquain thread? (did I spell that right?) and of course, the stanzas thread. I've been avoiding some of them because I get addicted to rhymes, and kind of live with a Suessel mind...

It doesn't seem to have helped, I'm still madly rhyming...

***********************************************************************

here's another written for Erik, I have tons of stuff as we used to goof a lot...this one's for his birthday...

Oh pretty little viking boy with curly hair of blond
who found a dusky canuk lass who swam upon the pond
the age you are is no big deal, it's just a number sir
unless your member doesn't rise or turgidness incur

haha! I bet he loved that!

Here's one I wrote for him..in response to one he wrote. I do NOT rhyme well. He is a master of rhyming with a nice flow...(you are too, of course!) I, however am not...so this was my tribute to him...lol

Good morning you naughty lil viking!
Thanks for coming out to play
I love visiting with you goofballs
It's the highlight of my day
I do not rhyme my verses much
But for you I'll give it a whirl
I find it a bit nerve wrecking...
for this quite simplistic girl

that's beautiful jujubee...

this one is for Wabbit, she married someone she met here and left the site...

Wabbit

Happy Birthday bunny
have fun with the honey
and make new bonds
for the golden band
one day your hand
will wear
love rare
and fine
southern sparkle
and shine
enjoy the fine skies
sweet tea
and moon pies....

Thorb and Thorn

I still see in black and white
they are characters of color
I'm a brown bird, duller
even so, I'll bite

so my dear gentlemen
my tribute to you
which I will now post
without further ado
(because AD2 beat me)
by a minute or two

between a Thorb and a Thorn
grab hold of the golden horns
versifying unicorns
flipping language to adorn

the sky is clear I see
no wicked witch for me (heehee)
I pass the rhyming key
and shake the poem tree

this is for princess, or silverswan, she went by many names...all she wanted was to be a poet. I don't know if she understood, she didn't have to strive to be, she already was....

Princess C

then if we never speak again
on a future day
when the shadows call
and the veil is pushed aside
there will be a field
golden grass and wildflowers
I'll find you there
listen for your lyricism
the beating of your damaged heart,
flinging passion
spreading praise
leaking love
vibrant
vivid
and indelible

hugs girl, congratulations for your milestone and enjoy your much deserved time off with your boys....

this was to Om and other male posters after I made a thoughtless exclusionary girl power remark....

apology to om 2/11/07

to Om, I'm sorry I was rude
you can't help you were born a male
my words your sex did not include
and I have let my manners fail

I meant to thank my female friends
because I feel a welcome here
in doing so I can't defend
excluding one we hold so dear

I meant no harm in gender base
but scrolling back I see there was
I apologize in any case
to you and Thorb and other boys(poetic liscense)

this isn't just a female thread
and never should have looked that way
forget the thoughtless words I said
we love to have you come and play

this sandbox holds the lot of us
it's big enough for girls and boys
so sorry that I caused a fuss
so carry on with all your toys

written for Autumn Fantasy for her birthday I guess '08...

luminescent (for R)

the twist of your phrases
moonlight pools
an open door
a whispering sea
to beckon on the floor
allure for the curious
I still, cat serious
to listen more
the promise of
a story told with meaning
luminous and golden
lit with phosphorescent dreaming

This is for DragonN

Are you where your dreams are
do you dance with your dogs
and howl at the moon
weave your magic into a blanket
walk the shore bathed in moonlight
do you have my peace
finally?

If you read this my dear friend, it brings you love

      Timeless ~

The balance of time in a poem’s find
Teeters on the pen of the poetic mind
Pressures to dark written with power
Very much unlike the image of a flower
Somewhere is found a smile or a frown
                  Expressions impressed never less found

seahorsey, thanks for bumping this up!

Pickles, somehow I missed you, I'm sorry about that...

this was for Eyes Wide Shut, he is in his fourth or fifth permutation now...lol...

Eyes

do not weep
my stunned seduced mind
he leaves to be love's maniac
and all who love are blind

farewell my friend I've never met
peace follow through your life
thank you for the gift of words
and stay away from strife

the beauty of your soul
shone light upon my own
I hope one day you visit
and leave in place a poem....

This is for Woobs, it was her birthday last Friday. I didn't write it this year, but I thought I'd post it since I found it again.

you live your life with grace
you look great in a hat
you never stoop to argument
and who can argue that?

you love your fellow man
you're still extremely frisky
you never fail to show your heart
although you know it's risky

you're gentle and you're kind
your world view is amazing
you're a dedicated activist
and I am not done praising

I wish I could have met you
at Ravin's fest this summer
I had to be a fiscal girl
but the missed trip was a bummer

but one day we will meet
my awesome quaker friend
until that day commences
I'm left with love to send

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WOOBY......

I'd been looking for this one...it's for my friend Pensky, who went on a road trip...

road trip

travel, look
take paper and pen
and book
geographical change
can change
your heart
start
to loose the
tangled knots
of pain
leave the fusspots
behind
meet crackpots
take snapshots
wander
yonder

Brawny

you remember him
from childhood
playful, laid back
the only time he ran
he was chasing the pus*s

does the tail wag the dog?

patient with children
accepted all food
the only time he growled
he was protecting
his family

he taught you love
unconditionally
and left you too soon
with an aching heart
full of memories

thankfully you have a longer life span....if you don't count in dog years...

Wooby

in the forest
I've never seen
she exists
in understory
filmy green

I make my lists
of things that I
must do
and somewhere
I put you
