Douching is the biggest sin. Anyone ever noticed that douching products are always near the aisle where the Monistat 7 is in the store? It is no secret to corporations and pharmacies that when a woman douches, she kills off the good bacteria, feeding the bad bacteria to produce more maladorous material. This repeats the cycle of having to use Monistat to battle the bad bacteria all over again. Ladies, please stop douching, and just stay healthy. When is the last time a guy ever scrubbed down there, and then put some good smelling (or good tasting) cream on his nether region? Never.

Some women have a stronger odor than others, and some guys have a nasty odor themselves.

Either do the smell/taste test (when kissing deep, take your finger down to the core, and finger for a moment, then bring back up, and either smell or taste to know where you want to go from there), or be content to kiss or say g'bye.

Vaginal Problems - Topic Overview

Most women experience minor vaginal problems from time to time. These problems can be related to menstrual cycles, sex, infection, birth control methods, aging, medicines, or changes after pregnancy.

A change in your normal vaginal discharge may be the first sign of a vaginal problem. Changes in urination, such as having to urinate more frequently or a burning feeling when you urinate, also may be a symptom of a vaginal problem.

Conditions that may cause a change in your normal vaginal discharge include:

* Infections of the vagina, such as a yeast infection, bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis, human papillomavirus (HPV), or herpes.
* Infection of the cervix (cervicitis).
* An object in the vagina, such as a forgotten tampon.
* Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), such as chlamydia or gonorrhea.
* Various sex practices, such as oral-to-vaginal and anal-to-vaginal contact.
* Vaginal medicines or douching.

Vaginal infections

The presence or excess growth of yeast cells, bacteria, or viruses can cause a vaginal infection. A vaginal infection may occur when there is a change in the normal balance of organisms in your vagina.

The three most common types of vaginal infections are:

* Candida vulvovaginitis (yeast infections).
* Bacterial infections (bacterial vaginosis).
* Parasitic infections (trichomoniasis).

Common symptoms of vaginal infection include:

* Increase or change in the vaginal discharge, including gray, green, or yellow discharge.
* Vaginal redness, swelling, itching, or pain.
* Vaginal odor.
* Burning with urination.
* Pain or bleeding with sex.

If you are pregnant and have vaginal symptoms, talk with your doctor about your symptoms before considering any home treatment measures. Some home treatment measures may not be appropriate, depending on the cause of your vaginal infection. Conditions such as bacterial vaginosis can affect your pregnancy, so it is important to talk with your doctor and be treated appropriately.

Vaginal infections may increase the risk for pelvic infections, such as pelvic inflammatory disease (PID).
Vaginal or vulvar problems

Other vaginal or vulvar problems may occur from the use of birth control methods, the use of medicines, or aging, or as a result of changes after pregnancy. These problems include:

* Vaginal prolapse, which may cause urination and bowel changes.
* Retained tampon, birth control device, or foreign object. See how to remove an object from the vagina.
* Vulvar or vaginal injury, such as landing on a metal bar such as on a bike or playground equipment or from an object in the vagina.
* Vulvar pain (vulvodynia).
* Noninfectious vaginitis. Examples of this include:
o An allergic reaction or irritation from chemicals, such as those found in vaginal sprays, douches, or spermicides.
o Hormone changes related to menopause, such as atrophic vaginitis.
o Use of antibiotics and other medicines, which may change the balance of organisms in your vagina.

A young girl with unusual vaginal symptoms should be evaluated by her doctor to determine the cause. Vaginitis in a young girl may be caused by:

* A ball of toilet paper in her vagina.
* Pinworms that have spread from the anus to the vagina.
* The spread of bacteria from an upper respiratory infection of the ears (otitis media) or throat (tonsillitis) to the vagina by her hands.

For some it is an acquired taste and likely has much to do with the fact that females generate fluids from the vaginal wall and the Bartholin's glands, located slightly below and to the left and right of the vaginal opening. Like effects of food and drink on the taste of semen in males, the types of foods and liquids ingested will have a slight effect on the taste of those fluids.

On a personal note. I've never experienced any off-putting odors when performing cunnilingus. Every woman has a unique scent and taste which to me is quite intoxicating.

In my opinion (which is only of value to me), making derogatory jokes around such an intimate issue for women shows a lack of respect and reflects a lack of social skills. Such comments, while unnecessary, should be kept where they belong. In the male locker room. Even then it tends to reflect an insensitive, dehumanizing, and objectifying view of women as a whole.

Greetings Ms. Spumoni,

Since I cannot send you an email, just wanted to say that I loved the "Fun with bubble wrap" photo. As a semi-professional photographer, it gave me all kinds of creatively wicked ideas. Thanks.

This honestly has to be the best reply in this thread, not only is it accurate but very informative too and dispels MANY of men's misconceptions about "the smell down there". Like he said at the bottom
For some it is an acquired taste
, the same goes for exotic cheeses too! So in essence it's like a pungent tasting cheese, edible but only to the right person's palate. Again, to say that a woman's smell comes from bad hygiene is incorrect and shows ignorance. Become informed before you speak, and together we can stop ignorance

I just had to put in my 2 cents worth,
even after all this time .....

I wonder if Plenty Of FISH together with
FISH types to describe people has anything
to do with this FISH smell you talk about !
I've been eating at the Y since I was 6.....she
was an older gal.....8 OK !
If there is any fishy smell it's usually just due
to soap residue from not rinsing enough, nothing
that can't be wiped away easily...once she starts
oozing all that love juice from your attention you
can rub your face in it and lap it up....unless you
don't like eating Pus sy !

The vulva has delicate folds, that are warm, moist, in the dark, and fed debris (all tissue "sheds" debris) along with mucus from the self cleaning action of the vagina. It is the perfect "petri dish" for growing bacteria. bacteria breaking down this "soup'" causes a natural odor.

Women who think they are defending womenhood by posting that there is no odor are actually doing a disservice to women. Women read these posts and think there must be something wrong with them because they have a slight odor , so they go buy feminine deoderants, douches, etc that cause problems.

men can actually give you this infection even if they have showered ... many doctors give a woman a prescription for them and one for their man also.. this is one infection that can be passed back and forth for ever if both are not treated simultaneously..actually the bacteria can live in the male urinary tract and there fore be in his semen .. it can but dont always give him symptoms of bladder infection ..it is not a STD because it is transmitted by other ways beside sex ..according to a doctor the main means of transmission to non sexually active girls is by sharing a towel at the pool or in gym class ... chlorine in the pool kills it but drying can spread it ..or so were we told by a doctor

hell I dont know what I am talking about ...all I know is long time ago My wifey caught something that made her choochie smell like a fishermans warf she went to this doctor and he gave both her and I a prescription for ..I think flagyl a antibiotic I think

the doctor also saved my life by explaining to her that it was not a STD per-se ..and was easily contracted through non sexual means ..and it was in our case because We were both monogamous ..he went on to name many ways a woman can catch it ..however when a guy has it he pretty much caught it through sex ..which means she caught it through a non sexual means and gave it to me ..so I had to be treated also

Yep Yep.. flagyl is the cure for trich..

I learned about this nasty lil "non STD" in the first weeks of my relationship with my ex husband. As a young man he was PISSED that he couldnt have sex for 10 days of treatment.. took us two rounds to fix it... AND he had to get a cotton swab UP his penis for testing.. lol..

You know.. you can catch crabs with out sex also.. although.. ive never had them.. THANK GOD

BV can be caused by something as simple as a PH imbalance and semen has a far higher PH then a healthy vagina so its actually the mans fault lol. Seriously though, dont use soap down there and shove some Aci-Jel up after nookie and all should be sweet

A person can have good teeth, brush throughly at night and use mouthwash, yet in the morning most have "morning breath." The mouth is not sterile, so bacteria working cause some morning breath odor. Bacteria breaking down tissue, etc., cause an odor. This is a biological fact.

The vagina/vulva is also not sterile and has all the conditions for bacteria to thrive and break down tissue debris, mucus, etc. Why do you think it would defy all the laws of biology and not have some odor? Magic?

Sweaty Balls, Cheesy Penis, Raunchy Butt,Underneath Tit Sweat, Fishy Kitty Kat, they are apparent at times, rather it be hygiene, or just sex pharmones, the smells sometimes are off the charts, but as Rhianna says" I LOVE THE SMELL OF IT" , to each their own.....

How common amongst girls I wonder? It it to do ith hygiene or more to do with sexual activity? I've had some bad experiences and have been offput somewhat to even the slightest fish smell/taste. It is something af a rarity or do I have to get over my fears??

I'm in the same boat. The smell tends to make me gag, even if it's slight.

This, as you might guess, is a "bad thing" as far as maintaining a sexy atmosphere in bed goes. Women don't seem to take kindly to a fella damn-near upchucking when he gets close to their nethers. I like to think myself a gentleman, but going down on women is becoming less and less appealing the more often I experience this.

It's usually better if I work a shower into the routine (hey baby, let's have some sexy foreplay in the shower, etc) but that only works about three times before the lady gets suspicious. Can't exactly tell her that I'm afraid of her crotch smelling like a tire yard fire, so "shower fetish" is my usual explanation.

The natural scent of a woman makes you want to puke?
Don't mean this is a mean way, but could you be gay?

I agree with this post below

Um, yes women will have a slight smell, we have a self cleaning vagina, that means moisture produced by the body and that moisture will have some scent. I really think that the average man has no clue at all about the female body and any slight scent to them is the dreaded "fish" smell, when it is really the normal smell of a woman. Guess all this porn has so confused a lot of men, we arent made of plastic and our bodies all have some sort of scent, guess what, its supposed to! Yours does as well genius. Stop buying into the idea that women should smell like a summer rain...

And before all you "hygiene divas" start slamming this woman as being dirty, having an infection, and needing to see her Dr, chances are this man has no real idea of what women should smell like since so many women seem to spend so much time trying to eradicate any possible natural scent if these forums are any indication of the average woman today....

The only time a woman may/should smell funky down around her tee-hiney-boo is during that time of month and if a woman denies that she does smell funky down there during that time....she is only lying to herself or perhaps has a sinus issue.

I wish I had never posted to this thread, because whenever I log on to check "my forums", there it is, that "fishy smell down there".

I have not personally experienced that problem with the women I've been with and if you're "down there" and it doesn't smell right think of it as a reason to "go somewhere else".

It's possible sweat and other secretions and crap get caught up in the hairs which is another reason why shaved or mostly shaved is the way to go.

Funny post and answers!!

Ahhh my favorite thing! and Im a huge fan of smells!! not bad ones.. but they all have a scent. hmmm

Ive found a lot of times that it has to do with the underclothes they wear. That thing is a living breathing lovely creature! It needs to breathe!! cotton breathes.. The lil silky stuff prohibits that. As a general rule Girls that have good relationships with their mothers are usually taught that it seems.
