Stormwolf, that was brave.

Mine dropped me when he started hanging out with a new group of guys and realized I wasn't pretty enough to show off.

How did you lose your first love?

We were young, highschool, into college. I was her first love as well. Being apart was difficult, we had an idea that it wouldn't last forever. Since I was her first real love, she wanted to date a few other people here and there to make sure "I was the one"

I just couldn't cope with it so we parted. We stayed in touch for a few years, she always thought I was just being nice, and didn't think I still liked her. I wasn't totally hung up on her, but I was always interested if the opportunity presented itself again, to date again.

She regretted breaking up, and felt it was a mistake as soon as I left. I didn't whine or bellyache. I didn't plead or cry, I just said I would miss her, I loved her to death, and with that I left, and never looked back.

Lost touch for a good 15 years, and ended up finding each other on facebook. It was really good to be back in touch, we rekindled things and did an 8 month cross country thing. Back and forth, phone calls etc etc. She put her house up for sale to move across the country to be together. But alas, with the economy it just wasn't selling, her mom was really doing a number on her guilt wise as well. I could move there, but Ontario is kind of a wasteland as far as work is concerned. Every time you turn around 1000 people are being laid off. It would be silly to leave an 80K/year good solid job to go and sit on EI on the other side of the country.

So we parted, decided it was probably for the best that we don't keep in touch. It was good to reconnect, and see how each other has grown over the years. I'm happy that she is in a good place emotionally, physically, etc etc. So that's a good thing, I'm glad to see that she's doing well after all this time.

So here I am, back in the saddle.

How did you lose your first love?

towards the end of college (which i started young, at age 16), i started to hang out in greenwich village (nyc) and began to form my own opinions and was challenged by some brilliant thinkers. my first love did not apparently did share my feelings and joined the army reserves, later moving down south.

i was adopted by an older avante garde group of artists and musicians. back then, there was a code of honor, not in evidence today, and they guarded my naivete fiercely. the boyfriend had taken a career test and was told to become an accountant "or" a mortician. my new friends consoled me and pointed out that we had chosen different paths. not that i mind accountants, but he tried to sell my friend's mom a funeral plot at my friend's dad's funeral!

so, he then moved to the south, w/o inviting me. but, as i grew up, i would often look at our pictures and "pine away". he had done a lot of romantic things in the earlier years. thus, many years later, after i remarried my second husband, we touched base. cleaning out old boxes, i was curious about the high school/college dynamics-- and my husband did not mind. so seems my first love, became dumbstruck by some woman on a train, followed her and years later is married to her! he remembered being a nerd. he remembered i was "hot"?!* here, i thought it was love. plus, whereas he was my first, i was his second and his wife, the third.

for me, he was my hero at the time. as said above, i was naive. still carry some of it with me. however, speaking to him on the phone years later in my 50's, i couldn't help saying to myself: "what was i thinking?"

so young'uns, it gets better!

Her mother caught us naked together. She told us both that we couldn't see each other any more. I had hoped that she was just pissed at the moment and would get over it. But every time I came a calling, the mother always answered the door and would shoo me away.

I think back and wish we had ran away together But we were both only 5 at the time.

Awe yeah. Like I said, the timing was off. That was a few months ago now, I think May. Had her house sold quickly, she would be here right now and things would be fine. She was also REALLY down with gardening, growing everything from veggies to herbs to flowers etc etc. So moving from a zone 9 for the growing season, to a zone 2 was just killing her.

Like I said, it all ended well, and we are getting on with our lives. I know she's in a good headspace, and likewise for her. We will always have a special place in our hearts for each other, as our first loves, but it's time to move on. I said if she ever changes her mind, look me up. I told her I wouldn't leave anyone for her, if I was in a relationship, but if we were both single then who knows.

It's all good.

We were young and stupid. She cheated on me...I retaliated and cheated on her. It was a downward spiral from there.

When I reflect honestly, after I found out, she *did* every single thing I asked, showed me her faithfulness to every degree there was and I still never trusted her again. I just flat didn't know how to handle the situation maturely and reacted in ways that certainly did nothing to help the situation.

It was stupid, and we both acknowledge that stupidity and have shared our regret it in our later years. Nonetheless, it'll never go back to the way it was and that romantic love was truly destroyed in this lifetime. I know it was real love because it lasted through hell, stayed the course of several years of total neglect and still found terms in a valuable friendship years later.

Wow, some of these stories are truly sad and heart breaking. I have a very unusual one. The blame lays on a charcoal pencil... Going to be a tad long sorry.
It started in 2nd grade when a girl caught my eye. Her family had just moved into a house about 5 houses down the street. They were only there a few month's when I just didn't see the girl around anymore. About a year later the family moved.
I lived on that street many years until my early teen years when we moved to the other side of town. The town was a very small rural place. After meeting some of the kids around my new neighborhood I asked about a different looking house about 5 houses up from where I lived. They told me that's where the V------s lived and I remembered that was the last name of the little girl from my old street. So I asked about her and I was told she had gone out of state to live with her dad when she was very young.
Only a few months later there she was, 16, looking very cute and at my bustop. Her dad had passed away so she had moved back to be with her mom. One thing led to another and next thing I know we are going steady.
Being naughty we use to fool around at her house after school, her mom usually got home about an hour later. One day there we were fooling around on the couch when her mother came home early and caught us. I barely got out of the house with only a ripped shirt.
When I got home my mother asked what was wrong, said I looked like I had seen a ghost. I told her -------s mom had caught us having sex. I laugh now but was terrifying then. My mother said I knew you were going to get caught. I was like what, how did you know. She said well you come home with scratches all over your back all the time. I was dumbfounded.
Well her mother was very upset and the family decided it was best if she went to stay at her sisters for a week or 2. Her sister lived about 75 miles away. That evening my gf came over to my house to tell me all this and her sister was on her way. She was crying horribly and shaking so bad my mother gave her a cigarette. She knew she smoked but in no way condoned it.
I use to be an aspiring artist back then and had a desk next to my bed where I did most of my drawing. My gf grabbed a piece of paper and one of my charcoal pencils off the desk and wrote down her sisters address for me to write. She left a few minutes after that.
A few days later I get this long letter from her telling me how much me missed and loved me. I wrote her back a long letter and patiently waited for her to write back. When I didn't get anything for days I wrote another letter then a few more and never heard back. I was devastated. We had a walkway from our front door to the sidewalk with one step halfway. I use to sit there all day into the evening looking down at her house waiting for her return. My mother often came out asking if I wanted anything. I had no hunger or concept of time.
A little over 2 weeks go by and I'm still sitting on the on step everyday but one evening I go in and eat something. I come back out and sit on the step only to notice her sisters car down the street. I wait about an hour knowing I cant show my face but was going to call. Then I notice this other car there. It was this guy that was a bit older, sort of a friend of the family and the few time's I met him he would flirt with my gf.
So I go inside and call her and she answers the phone. I ask what's going on and she very coldly tells me she had gotten home about an hour before and was getting ready to go on a date to the movies with --- the family friend. She then said goodbye and hung up.
I was truly devastated and glad it was so long ago I cant remember the pain. I lost weight, couldn't sleep and got so bad my mother took me out of school for a week and sent me to my favorite aunts house. She ended up going steady with some other guy and I graduated not long after and moved away but just before I did my family got a letter from the same place my gfs sister lived. The town had a unusual long name and looking at the address I realized I had spelled the name wrong and the zipcode was off. All because my gf had wrote it with a charcoal pencil and shaky hands and I had read it wrong. So she never got my letters...
There's a bit more to the story but this has been long enough...

Normal car ride to "the city"...just tooling along minding our own business on the interstate...when all of a sudden

I hit the window lock button and hot boxed her with probably the nastiest fart in history.

Somehow, she was ejected from the passenger door, and I never saw her again.

I miss her.

While it turns out that I was quite fortunate because I have found out her true character since we went our separate ways, I screwed it up big time. I chased her for years throughout high school and her Mom loved me and thought she should date me, so of course she never did.

Then after high school I joined the Marine Corps and came back on leave in my uniform, she was a senior in high school and she liked that I picked her up in my Dress Blues. We dated for a while and then I got orders to Japan. In Japan I decided that I would partake in the local past time of bedding "buy-me-drinkee" girls, only I went daft and told someone back home who conveyed this to my girlfriend.

When I returned from Japan a year later, she was cold and stand-offish. Then she asked me about my exploits and I was stupid enough to be honest. We just never talked after that. The interesting thing is now I'm kind of in a relationship with her best friend from high school who dated my best friend from high school and it turns out we're a much better match. Oh and that is the last time I ever slept around on a woman (chalk it up to youth).

I was 13, he was 14.
We hung out every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at the little league baseball fields one summer. Summer ended... so did the relationship. (sigh)

I was 16, she was 14. I joined the navy on a delayed entry program at 16 and was in boot camp two weeks after I turned 17. Thought I was a man back then but in hind sight I was just a boy. By the time I discharged she was with some other and I was broken hearted. That was my first real heart break, but believe me it wasn't the last. Sometimes I wished I was like the Tin man on the Wizzard of Oz.

Taking poor advice from my aunt Shela. I really like my girlfriend back in the day, but my aunt told me I was too young to be serious and I should be seeing other girls. What I learned was use your own feelings to make decisions, and forget what others who dont really know you that well when it comes to matters of the heart.

We lived togther as friends for years. I screwed up. I took it for granted that it would go on like that forever. I never bothered to tell her I wanted it too. After a while of having her hints ignored I think she gave up on me. My best friend met the love of her live and I did what I thought was the best thing I could do for her. I left quietly so she wouldn't have to explain the guy living with her. I also left a part of my life that I have never been able to replace.
