I'm 5'10 hitting close to 5'11 and i've always been taller. I used to hate being the tall girl, all my friends seemed so short. Now i've gotten used to being taller and I find myself to be more attracted to tall men. Any man taller than 6'0 is damn hot to me. I definitly appreciate being taller now but sometimes its hard to find jeans long enough. That suck!

Intimidated? No.

But if most women like a guy who is TALL, dark, and handsome.... well 5'9" doesn't always fare well. Dated a girl who was 6'1" for a few months and neither her height nor mine was the reason we split up. If I didn't approach you, your height probably wasn't a key factor.

Hey Ladies! Short guys need love too

Well I am 6'2 and I have rarely met a woman taller than me. I have dated all heights from 5'1 to 5'9 as the tallest. Im not intimidated by a woman that is tall (for a woman). If she was taller than me then that might feel unusual. But also I think that shorter men dont approach tall women as most tall women i have met wont go for a guy that is shorter than them.

Everything else being equal, would choose tall in a Texas minute.

That said...seems tall women tend to have image problems (maybe feeling less feminine?)....saddest being those with broken posture from trying to seem shorter. If they embrace it...so attractive.

Noticed it to be less true with the post boomers. Good for them!

Tall people and longevity
Posted: 8/10/2006 11:11:58 AM
I have mixed feelings. I generally like a woman to be closer to my height but probably not taller with heels, and it wouldn't be a dealbreaker either way. I think there is a (false) sense of superiority that goes way back for tall people that look down on the heads of shorter people. This thinking now manifests itself in taller vehicle choices as well.

I am above average 5'10" but the thing is tall people don't seem to live as long and the data is pretty convincing from MILLIONS of deaths. Check this out, searching "height and longevity", about every inch you lose a year, even correlates to men being 8% taller than women and 7.9% shorter lifespan on average:

Life Sci. 2003; 72(16):1781-802 (ISSN: 0024-3205)
Samaras TT; Elrick H; Storms LH
Reventropy Associates, 11487 Madera Rosa Way, San Diego, CA 92124-2877, USA. SamarasTT@AOL.com

"Over the last 100 years, studies have provided mixed results on the mortality and health of tall and short people. However, during the last 30 years, several researchers have found a negative correlation between greater height and longevity based on relatively homogeneous deceased population samples. Findings based on millions of deaths suggest that shorter, smaller bodies have lower death rates and fewer diet-related chronic diseases, especially past middle age. Shorter people also appear to have longer average lifespans. The authors suggest that the differences in longevity between the sexes is due to their height differences because men average about 8.0% taller than women and have a 7.9% lower life expectancy at birth. Animal experiments also show that smaller animals within the same species generally live longer. The relation between height and health has become more important in recent years because rapid developments in genetic engineering will offer parents the opportunity to increase the heights of their children in the near future. The authors contend that we should not be swept along into a new world of increasingly taller generations without careful consideration of the impact of a worldwide population of taller and heavier people."

Sorry tall people, don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger.

The average US white nonhispanic male 20-39yo is 5'10.2" so I am exactly average, doh. The female equiv is 5' 4.6". We also shrink about 3/4" from morning to evening as the spine compresses.

Guys can wear heels, (cowboy boots, etc) too.

I'm 5'11". Eye-level or a few inches shorter is ideal, great for when we're slow-dancing, keeps my neck from straining to look into your eyes LOL, but, if you happen to be taller, as long as there's a fire in your eyes for me, neck-strain or no, I'll be into you.

I have no problem with tall women nor am I intimidated by tall women. Many years ago, I had a few dates with a woman that was about 6-2 and I am 5-9. However, I find that most tall women favor men that are taller than they are.

I couldn't date a woman taller than me, it's not intimidating as one of my closest women friends is taller than me and I'm not scared. I suppose I don't find it very feminine and as I like being able to envelop myself around my woman, a tall woman doesn't allow for that. Mind you, I'm 6'1" myself so the problem has never really arisen (no pun intended).
