10 years at the same company and have never went to a Xmas party.... I spend enough time with those ppl I work with to want to smoozsh with the VP's and their trophy wives....plus, too many drinks and next thing you know you told off a senior VP or hit on his wife....

But then again, my tongue is untied....

I don't pay into a social fund, never have. We don't have them at work.

There are a few people I do hang out with that I USED to work with, but while working with them, we never really hung out, due to office politics and all that crap.

I wont be forced to hang out with people I don't want to hang out with, and that includes office parties. I used to go to my ex husbands parties all the time, they were always a gong show. The owner of the companys wife was a bit of a lush, every year she'd order the dj to play a song suitable to strip to, after a few too many, she'd start her routine on the dance floor, hubby had to drag her off half dressed, the guys would brawl, to the point the cops were called a couple of years, it was just stupid.

The worst thing about it all?? Ex hubby was forced to go and the same thing happened year after year... what's the point?

Nah, I'll just get together with friends and have our own Christmas party. Much more enjoyable that way

When I used to work for larger companies that had annual Christmas parties, I would always attend. I always thought they were great. What was great was getting to meet the people that are important in your co-worker's lives. That was always the best part about the Christmas parties for me.

Yes people would sometimes do stupid stuff, but that is half the fun of it. I miss them quite a bit. Last year I went to a large company function and it was awesome I met a couple great people and it turned out one of the people at our table (my ex-girlfriend's boss) was someone I went to junior high and high school with.

You mean to say you like that? Some are so politically correct they can pull it off, but I have never been successful so have given up trying!

I usually get along with most people. Most people like me too. I deal with so many different people during the course of the day, it is never an issue. I go to a lot of social events so it is no big deal for me, it is usually just another day at the office. If anyone needs an escort for the evening to their company Christmas send me a message, if I am free I will go. I won't embarass you either - although I may come up in conversation on the Monday. There might even be a good chance I might even know your boss' spouse or the boss. If it is a big company there is a pretty good likelihood I will know someone or a few people that are attending.

just my two bits in about the company Christmas parties..or Holiday parties as they are sometimes called...My last company had a FANTASTIC party, were we ate, drank and cabbed home..all at the company's expense. I heard that they are scaling it back, or dropping it this year..not 100% sure...too bad..always good to see people and chat without wondering if someone is going to say something about 'visiting' during office hours...

My new company has the same thing going on..big party, we pay a $30 deposit cheque, which we get back when we show up...if not, it gets cashed to cover the meal. We buy our own drinks (fair), and we get a cab chit to get us home...Its my first one with the company, and really looking forward to it! Do I hang out with them after work hours? no...but a few I wouldn't mind!

Place I work is great for organizing a party but they plan it not for days when the four hundred some production workers are able to attend (like a down-day) but for when the office staff are free. They post the ticket sales and have limited seating (usually enough for the office staff, spouses and maybe thirty other couples). It's sort of an ongoing joke, the shake-your-head kind.

For the rest of us, we have to be satisfied with not even a christmas card, no posting recognizing the holidays beyond saying that the plant won't be running, no bonus, nothing at all.

I o like where I work for the party stuff. We are having dinner and the alcohol is paid for. If you need a cab it is paid for as well. Plus we shut down from Christmas to New Years and are paid for it. I guess that is plus in working at a very small company.

Don't believe her Back Country. Even with her meds it is a 50/50 crap shoot when you take her out.

oh shut up SM. You know as well as I do that the "incident" only happened because you refused to behave.... lets be honest with ourselves shall we??

I'm seriously beginning to reconsider our wedding pact buddy.

Thanks dude.

You promised you'd keep that to yourself. Now do we let everyone know what we intended to do with that baby powder?

I love how conveniently you left yourself out of this scenario.. that statue wasn't really Churchill, it was you covered in powder, lets be honest here... and I'd never have been able to pull off that pole dancing without tips from you... its amazing how well poles and baby powder go together.

Same time, same place this weekend?

Hang on... wasn't this about Christmas parties??

From Page 1

Our parties are still on... one at Belgo and the other at Ruth Chris...

Ruth Chris is a great place!

We only have 6 employees where I work. And I work for myself at my other job. We won't be having any Christmas parties, but the tips/bonuses are fantastic!

I think they cut funding to our union christmas parties. There are all different shifts going on, so there were a number of different christmas parties. Now it's all one big one, for union and staff.

I don't think many are going. Hell, I couldn't be bothered going to our union one. I think I went once in 7 years.
