I heard a lot of complains about that sitebnut other ones are there for money too.
They say they are free but you can't write anyone unless you pay. What good does it do to search for profiles when you can't send emails? That "free" thing is so misleading.

Same thing happened to me...I was on it for 6 months, not ONE single match that was even remotely close to me or even in any sort of atmosheric realm of the sort of man I would even think of dating. What a nightmare after all the damn hassle involved in even getting on the stupid thing in the first place!

If you think eHarmony is bad try Mate1, especially if your a guy. Women can have their profiles for free, while men must pay $50/month. I've had better luck on LoveHappens.com which is $20 for 6 months then its "paid-up" and you can still contact people just the same (as a full member). I've met women on their averaged out to be 2 or 3/month, partially because I was working 10-12 hours 6 days/week at my job.

I'm a liberal christian but I would not use eharmony, heard too many negative things about it from sources other than this forum. I have however had some good contacts from match.com.

Glad to know I am not the only one who found nonharmonious to be a big expensive joke! Wow, I think I got a total of 4 matches and most of them lived so far away there was really no way to ever get together. Hooray for pof....

what i encountered from them is their 7 day free trial was charged to my credit card from day one, on day 2 i had found this out called them and told them that how can something be a free trial when your billed from day one, then the trial of getting it taken off started and it never was removed, sure they cancled it afterwords but ive not got my money back and all i did get is a offer for a three month membership for the price of one........so yea stay away....

Yes the people in the E harmony ads are paid to be together, they are NOT real couples, my lil bro is into acting & modeling & the site where I get some of his auditions, had one for E harmony commercials, It said need average people to be put together in couples for ads. So those are not success stories, and now I know why the people are so ugly, the ask for "average" people in the audtions lol!! I find there are alot more attractive guys on POF than any of the sites where I signed up but never paid, Thank goodness. I tried Match Perect Match E harmony and even Military Friends, but never got one guy I'd consider dating so I just never paid a $.

i did there free profile thingy...just to see how compatiable i am....they came back and said that in the whole wide world i was not compatiable with anyone!

I find more people compatiable with me on POF!

They are full of it.

i spent the time to do the quisthioner only to be told that i could not use the site because i put down that i was single, and that quisthion was at the end of a way to long list of dumb quisthions.......so several months latter now i am legally divorced and try to get on E-Harmonny again only to be sent an email statting that i send them a copy of my divorce decree and the date and name of judge the state and city ........how could that be any of there concern! i didnt have to prove i was single but i have to prove that i am now.
now after reading all of these complaints i am glad i didnt make it on to there site.
a couple of other free sites are.... bookofmatches and matchdoctor along with friendster and myspace

Well, here I am...yet another victim! But my story is a little different. I had tons of matches. I am not christian. I am wiccan. I got alot of christian men. They ALL said they loved Jesus...yadayadayada. I was matched with a native american who was into native american spirituality...very good. He never wrote. I got hooked up with two truck drivers looking for a "bookkeeper" and house mouse. But the best one was the guy who was divorced yet was still dealing with his ex girlfriend he had off and on for about twenty years. Oh, he was also involved with bailing out her son who got arrested for having her gun and drugs with him...hmmmmm. I can't tell you what all I had to do to get rid of that one!

They do have a process to close your account now on the site. I had to do it twice to get it to work....but the jury's not back yet on that one.

I do love POF. You're all wonderful nuts.

yeah, in general the pay sites are a waste. I got on yahoo personals for 6 months, and didn't meet anyone off of it. This site, okcupid.com, and webdate.com are the only sites I even bother with now days...

I agree, had the SAME experience, even went so far as to write them via snail mail, no response. And there unique approach is a ruse just so you spend more time on their site and spend more dough.

on the internet for the online store to put a double pending transaction on your debit card account, ie;
you purchase an item for $100, and instead of just the $100 amount pending on your account, they put 2
$100 pending transaction on your account, so that you have a shortage of $100 that is available in one's checking account??
and btw, eHarmony would not allow me to be matched because I've been divorced 3 times

I've never seen that and can't imagine a valid reason for it happening. Certainly sounds like a major screw up ... contact your bank or credit card complany asap.

I too took the time to fill out eHarmony's questionairre only to be told there was nobody out there for me. It's great to read all these testimonials and realise that I'm not THAT special -- lol.

For the record, I work for an online software company, and most fears about online credit card processing are unfounded. In fact, online transactions are now more secure than either faxing or using a cordless or cell phone. However, you do need to check your credit card statements very carefully and be sure that what you ordered is exactly what was charged.

Sheesh -- I sound like my mom!

I would never give my credit info on a site that asks for it in advance. Especially when they don't have an option for cancelation through the web. (yep, there are sites that allow you to cancel through phone or regular mail only)

The hard truth is, all these sites are trying to make money out of other people's need for a companion. Its very sad realy. Nommater how you see it.

Mos paid sites are phone calls work better than emails they cant loose those when they send you a confirmation while your still on the phone with them. Alway get a confirmation number.

Eharmony is a joke, it's a paid site, and when I joined it, they said my ideal match lived in somewhere like Madagascar... when I said that I wanted to have my idea match with in 75 miles.

FYI...I'd consider myself a country (i.e. a bit higher than a redneck) and a conservative Christian. My friend & I both filled out E-harmony's profiles and neither one of us had any matches. It took several weeks before I'd even got any match. I do think most of us are grown up enough & expericenced enough to know who we are looking for.

I have found the man of my dreams, but it was on another site. It's so good to believe in love again and know I don't have to be alone, if I choose not to be.

Know who you are and who you are looking for and you'll find someone. But sometimes the journey allows us to find really good friends along the way.

I just think a lot of people use dating sites because they have busy lives. It is quite obvious that in the past 10 years people just became much busier and preoccupied with themselves. Divorce rates are higher, people not marrying longer, more single working people... It's just a big growing trend, but I think dating sites are here to stay.

I mean just look at the popularity of MySpace. Granted it's a pointless site, but there are other sites that quickly capitalized on its popularity by offering their own platforms. I gotta say though, I love PoF very much!

Anyway getting back to eHarmony. I knew that it was a conservative Christian website. But I also heard stories, from a different party, that a lot of couples ended up being married, and just before marriage, they went to seminars in a local church in United States. I guess I know what kinda people that site matches, then!

What I didn't like very much though, is filling out that 1 hour form, I gotta admit though, it was fun... But then I got no matches, what a waste of a saturday afternoon
