Just saw the movie tonight and thought it was good all in all. It got a little green and earthy for me but I liked it.

It got me to thinking about Manifest Destiny and China and the Tibeten Monks.

Thoughts?

Saw the movie last week, it was GREAT, loved the show, got sea-sick with the 3-D, never seen a 3-D before and don't want to again...... then I seen it again a few days ago in regular, it was even better, and ONCE MORE this evening - so yeah, after almost 9 hrs of Avatar, I'll buy it when it hits the stands!

Haven't seen it, but I hope to this weekend. I'm a lot more interested in the spectacle of this movie than its dopey ideas. I loved one reviewer's comment that it's an "apology for pantheism."

I have to say on balance that I think it is one of the most interesting movies I have seen and it certainly shows how far computer generated images have come.

I saw the movie on a date from a gal off of here.

I personally did not like the movie.
Its way to long and the story is slow

I am quietly hoping the movie flops and they dont recoup the money spent on it

Still haven't seen it. The special effects, colors, and general showiness sound great, but I tend to go for movies without social messages. The Holmes film also sounds interesting.

loved it; the most spectacular imagery...in 3D... I have ever seen. Stunning. Unfortunately, sooooo tired when I saw it; have to see it again.

I thought it was a great movie. I could see where all that production money went. Visually amazing. And the story line was great and had an important message. The only problem I had was with the 3D. The damned glasses kept slipping of my glasses and the glasses we were given were very dark and made the movie MUCH darker than it was (or should be). Other than that, it was fabulous. In fact I might see it again in 2D.

I finally saw it last night in 3D. I thought the whole story and special effects were entertaining as total fantasy and the political message wasn't over-preached like in Happy Feet which didn't ruin the fantasy too much. If they were trying to send the big meenie greenie message they did a horrible job of it by leaving out a whole lot of very important reality stuff, so I am glad to accept it only as fantasy and no more.

^^^^^James Cameron is a brilliant filmmaker and businessman, and he apparently has an unbelievable amount of energy. But when it comes to environmental and cultural issues, he seems like just the standard Hollywood ideologue. Which means braying a lot of leftist dogma based on very little knowledge, like Susan Sarandon, or Sean Penn, or Jeanine Gareofalo. That's why he backed down so fast from his angry challenge to debate environmental issues when called on it--he's afraid of being made a fool of.
