enjoy the harvest with relish
chopped and canned on my stove
with collard greens and stuffed zuchini
spiced garlic eggplant baked in tahini (yum!)
bird feeders for winter made from pine cones
hot pepper mojo and some things all my own

salamander lay
and i had to swallow it whole
just to feel this peace
I'd consume that fcuking lizard as if it were a salty date dripped in honey
smiling the whole damn time

Peace will come after I've sweat out
this utter anger, pride
discontent nature
of feeling things
when I'm afraid
to remember how to breathe
and I lie about Havana brown ants desperately climbing to a perch in some heated, rotting portion of a log
