311...they do a lot....very different..I don't like their "radio" stuff but the deep tracks are awesome.


311 digs their own hole cuz they are stupid. It never fails that the radio single(well everything after Soundsystem) is the absolute worst song on the album EVERY time. Which makes it even worse because then you go see them live you subjected to a string of shitty songs in between the good ones.

It always amuses me at how as soon as "Amber" starts it signifies "piss break" among the crowd...especially at 311 day. No 311 fan wants to hear this song. Hell, this song destroys the flow in an otherwise excellent "From Chaos" album. "Wake Your Mind Up" gets you all pumped and then you get Amber-bombed.

Rush - How is it that it took 35 freaking years for Rolling Stone magazine to finally recognize them? How do you ignore the most musically talented band still touring when it comes to the level of skill that these guys play at? Sure, there are other great musicians still touring, but none of them are of a level that Rush is at.

Rammstein has ruined me forever for all other live shows (and videos, too). Being an old fart, I've seen a lot of concerts in my time, but nobody puts on a show like those German boys. Their pyrotechnics alone make everyone else look like rank amateurs, and their music is brilliant.

Ever hear of Blackmore Night? very good but underrated . c'mon people its Ritchie Blackmore. his guitar styling are more refined and the angelic voice of Candice Night is amazing. The style of music is very Medevil almost gypsy like, not withstanding ritchies need to rock.

Definitly A-ha their hit Take on Me overshadowed their second hit so badly that no one in the US even remembers they had a second hit (and almost a third). In Europe they were pretty popular and made 9 albums heres some of my favorites.

Walk off the Earth (they finally got some attention when they did 5 peeps, one guitar, but they still are making awesome music)
Hawknelson (they really proved themselves with Bring em Out, but also still have better songs)

Can - because their music was about 30 years ahead of its time. Krautrock doesn't get much of a listen outside of muso circles.

The Fall - because they epitomise alternative rock and very few people outside of North Manchester (UK) can stand to listen to them, never mind like them or even know about them.

There are some really great and deserving names already mentioned on this thread so I will try not to repeat any.

Two amazing metal bands that don't seem to be getting as much love as they deserve:

High on Fire

The Sword

They have pretty different styles but really kick ass at what they do! Both have put out 4+ albums each, all of which are solid releases.

The New Orleans Dirty Dozen. They had the #1 Jazz Album on Billboard a while back, but have never hit the pop charts. They are THE most danceable band on the planet. You just can't sit down. The musicianship is impeccable. I believe that if their agent could get them on a pop station, even an instrumental of theirs would hit big.

But I've sung with them a couple of times, so maybe I'm biased :-D

Of all times? Well this is a good one.

The Chameleons (UK) --- 80's. They are probably tied with the Cure for my favorite 80's band. Criminally underrated.

Kaleidoscope (UK) / Fairfield Parlour -- 60's. Magnificent Psych pop/rock and folk. They should have been nearly as big as the Beatles.

I also think YES is quite underrated and just under Pink Floyd as one of my all-time favs.

Badfinger. Played on Harrison's All Things Must Pass, Sir Paul covered Come and Get It, Nillssen had a hit with Without You, they never got their due.

^^ When you say 'Varg' are you referring to Varg from Burzum? If so, I couldn't agree more...

My pick would definately be The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Although they have a huge underground cult following, they purposely never 'sold out' therefore their music was a little hard to get ahold of outside of indie rock clubs and whatnot. But really these guys are truly amazing and I feel comfortable saying they're one of the greatest bands of the last 25 years. Have a listen for yourself.

The most underrated band... revis! They sound amazing even on cd! I dont think their together anymore because no one listend to them but check them out! Their great! If caught in the rain doesnt make your head bang then I dont know what will!

Golden Earring is known for two songs "Radar Love" and "Twilight Zone" but they recorded some great albums in the 70s that were not as radio/hit friendly as Radar Love which was edited down to half of the album version which had a great guitar solo in it.Moontan is one of my all time favorite albums...just 5 songs but a real education in song structure, contrast and dynamics....I thought they were great.
