YOu don't get it do you? I have not once said that Michelle Wie is not a talent, if you refer back to my first post you will see that I stated that she WILL become number 1 in the world in women's golf.
I think you should read my posts more carefully in future before you say I don't have a clue what i'm talking about.

I'll admit I don't know much about golf so I am not going to stick my nose into that.
My question is this: Let say.. what if we let girls and boy play together from the very beginning. They both compete with each other from the very start and have the same level playing field, will that change any of your opinion??
the thing with wei or any female golfer is they never played on a PGA tour before and that might put them in a disadvantage. Plus, when ever they get an invitation to play, they have the pressure put on them to do extremely well or they let other women down. Think of all the pressure on you when ever you putt. Let say if these ladies were given more than just once change to play on the PGA tour and have a feel for the course, wouldn't it that be leveling the playing field? These ladies (girls) are only be invited to play the pga tour when it is convenient for the organizer. I am sure they fair better if they know they have more than 1 chance to play on the PGA. Again.. I don't know much about golf but I am just saying.. I don't think the ladies were ever giving a fair chance to have a crack at the men in any sports.. not just golf.. and because of that, we can never able to say men are better than women at sport because we've alway put them in a disadvantage. How about this, I would love to see one of the male golfer play in the LPGA tour and have the same amount of people montioring every single swing he make and knowing full well the world is watching over him. If he fail or for some reason not able to make the cut, people would laugh at him and he would give other male golfer a bad name. I mean.. think of all the pressure you have to just have 1 game to prove your self to others and at the same time being watch or monitor and critique at every single swing, putt and hole.

I believe in equal opportunity. If a woman wants to play with the men, then fine, but she can't go back to playing with the women.

thats fine except that the men won't let them stay or play for more than 1 game

Ahh it's the women who aren't making the cut,we shouldn't be bending the rules because someone can't make the cut.

For those that don't follow golf tournaments:
A tourney usually lasts four days(Thursday-Sunday) and after 36 holes a golfer must be in the top 40% to continue playing.
LPGA rules prohibit players from turning pro and making money on the tour until after their 18th birthday, unless a special exemption is granted.
Wie wants to play in the PGA but unless she can keep up with the big dogs she won't ever win.I think she should play in the LPGA for 10 years, get some wins under her belt then try the PGA.

^^^Now that makes more sense^^^

When put into this perspective; It's hard to argue. I agree that she should not be thrown into the the PGA until she has shown that she can first dominate the LPGA for a few years consecutively.

a) she can play on the LPGA now b/c there is no way in hell they are going to say no

b) she can play on the mens tour when she is 18 regardless what anyone says if she qualifies like other do....there is no gender restriction on the PGA tour, only an age restriction

c) I have yet to hear a valid reason as to why she could not win a PGA event....she is doing more in PGA events than any 15 yr old male has ever done and she has the distance that most PGA players have and more so I can't see why she wouldn't win given the fact that distance is the only difference between women players and men

don't just say she can't do this or that......actually give a reason why she can't......so far nobody has

As far as her game is concerned, I don't see why she can't win.
As far as her experience is concerned, this might be where she falters under the pressure of being an inexperienced teenage girl playing against experienced grown men.
Even if she looks at them as old men, she's gotta be nervous.
If she can get in that good long half and still play a good short game on the green, she could win.

there is no question she won't win a PGA tour event in the next few years

as was said she doesn't have the experience of winning yet and as a competitive golfer, thats a whole new thing....you have to learn to win

she has the game for it and the teachers to get her there

You can make a good living on the PGA tour as long as you can consistantly make the cut and be there on Sunday. Plus I'm sure there be a massive amount of sponsoship dollars involved in a Michelle Wie making the PGA tour.

However, the downside would be the backlash of having a hype machine behind you without you actually winning anything. It just about killed Anna K's career and it's already starting to swell up on Danica Patrick even though she's only been in less than a season's worth of races and almost won an Indy in the process. In 2-3 years if she still hasn't won a race, then sure.

Tiger Woods won the British Open at St Andrews over the weekend with a 72 hole total of 14 under par 274 winning by 5 shots.
50 other players finished in red figures.
No woman on the planet would have broken par for 72 holes if they were involved.

and you know this how??

I watched every hour of TV....did I miss some ladies out there shooting over par??

you have nothing to back your claim that they can't or won't win in the future

Because the women's US Open was on a few weeks back on an easier layout than St Andrews and the winning score was over par.

I have no problem with women playing in the PGA. This is for the best golfers in the world, what I have a problem with is letting them play through exemptions. Let them go through the Q school the way everyone else does and earn their PGA card. If they can do this then nothing should be said about them not making the cut. Heck even some of the best golfers miss the cut every now and then.

As for men playing in the LPGA, it is specifically for women...that is why there are other "professional" golfing tours "Nike Tour" etc for those men who aren't good enough to the PGA. Would you really want to be a man on the LPGA tour and not win it....that would be the worst press you could ever get.

bad example.....you can't compare different courses and what scores would be

you have no real case here and have made no valid points as to why a female could not compete in a mens event

good try tho

its one thing to say that you have nothing against women playing sports but as long as they understand that they would never be as good as a man is pathetic to me you are on a site to meet a girl or guy if you are in for that, but to bash women saying that they will never beat a man then buddy you better open your damn eyes. Ill tell you what it takes a man longer to think with his mind because the blood has to travel up from the mid section so obviously me being the person i am will forgive a person like you for the fact that us women always take into consideration that when we beat you its with our minds, As for the PGA if a women plays on then all the power to her cause that is where i am going, i can honestly say that i can outdrive most of the guys i play with and its not b/c i am a girl, its b/c i am strong and and i know what i am doing, you need to really take a good look around you and when you are mature enough to know that us women are no different then men. You men all think that we are different the only difference is physical appearance when are you gonna learn. Whether we compete with men or not and when we beat you at the sport that probably took longer for you to learn youll know why we are just as great as any man....... diversity died long ago and i think that some men dont know what year it is.

this is for the buddy who thought listing everything that a women wouldnt be able to do alongside a guy how about i start my own list of why this guy doesnt know what he is talking about..... and then maybe he'll know his place alongside a women.

I think you're making reference to my comments Darnelle.
I'm laughing so hard here.
OK you tell me a list of sports that the best female can outdo the best male.
By the way, before you call me sexist or anything you are 100% wrong, I totally admire women playing sport, my argument is they can't compete with men and come out tops.

I can't bring myself to feel sorry for Anna Pornikova's career or lack thereof. Looked more like a personal decision to me. She was the darling of men tennis viewers and tournament sponsors, but in comparison to the talent around her, she was completely out of her league. Maria Sharapova does a much better job of blending looks and tennis ability, but she has chosen to tone down the sexual content. Anna was always one of the highest paid participants, its just that not a lot came from winnings. It was mostly special appearance money and commercial earnings, But, she was happy, so who am I to judge?

anything that doesn't require physical strength (pure muscle) to do, a woman can be better at than any man

**** that, LPGA is for women. I hate seeing them play in the PGA. LPGA was made so woman can play there. Besides seperating the genders is a good idea anyway. Its like basketball, the woman have there own league.

Woot no woman so far has made PGA cut.

its not that you might be sexist its the fact that you write one thing on how you admire us gals playing but then go directly into that we cant compete with you and come out on tops. Now do you not see what I mean, women are capable of anything beating a male maybe on there lists of things to do but when and where is happening all over not just in the pro's but all the time and this argument will go on opinions are all anyone has and that is why no one will win at this subject, i am saying that you cant be so hard headed to think that you can admire them as long as they know there place. Its an impass thats all, have fun though! lol Im sure oneday you may be right in thinking that you are not coming off sexist.... sorry

I cant wait till the day comes when a woman does beat a man on the course. You will have one hell of a day eating your words. Care for the salt? or is it pepper? Oh, dont forget the water, goes down easier...lol
