Yea...Now the question is "did Rupert Murdoch know about all this?"...

Murdoch owns NotW and FOX news.

NotW employees are being arrested for hacking into phone messages of murder victims, war dead, etc.

It is possible that Rupert was well aware, or possibly approved of the behavior

If he approved it for NotW, would he approve of the same criminal behavior with FOX?

It's good to see all of this healthy debate. Now if only Plenty of Fish put out a newsletter articulating all of this readily available information perhaps they would turn a profit like one of the big 6. Though the Big 6 aren't too excited about dissent these days. They prefer descent...

NotW employees are being arrested for hacking into phone messages of murder victims, war dead, etc.

Also victims on 9/11.

Can you imagine if anyone other than a employee of one of Murdochs companies did this what the outrage would be like on Faux news.

FBI begins News Corp investigation over allegations reporters 'paid ex-police officer to hack phone number of 9/11 victims'

* Law enforcement official says FBI have opened investigation into News Corp
* Two senators called for probe into whether journalists working for the company targeted U.S. citizens in wake of terror attacks
* Alleged breaches 'raise serious questions about whether the company has broken U.S. law'
* Private investigator alleges he was contacted by News of the World journalists asking for phone numbers of 9/11 victims and call details
* Rupert Murdoch's $16.1billion to take over satellite broadcaster BSkyB shelved over allegations
* Former Wall Street Journal owners admit they would never have sold paper to Mr Murdoch in 2007 if they had realised scope of phone hacking scandal

The FBI is investigating allegations that media mogul Rupert Murdoch's News Corp sought to hack into the phones of September 11 victims, a law enforcement official said today.

The official revealed the news to the Associated Press on Thursday, while New York City-based News Corporation is in crisis mode.

A rival newspaper reported last week that the company's News of the World had hacked into the phone of U.K. teenage murder victim Milly Dowler, 13, in 2002 and may have impeded a police investigation into her disappearance.

More possible victims soon emerged - other child murder victims, 2005 London bombing victims, the families of dead soldiers and former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.

The FBI's New York office didn't immediately comment on Thursday and neither did News Corp or the U.S. attorney's office in Manhattan.

On Thursday, Mr Murdoch caved in to pressure from Britain's Parliament as he and his son James first refused, then agreed, to appear next week before lawmakers investigating phone hacking and bribery by employees of their newspaper empire.

Mr Murdoch began his media career in Australia in 1952 after inheriting The News newspaper after the death of his father, and he has built News Corp into one of the world's biggest media groups.

Its assets include Fox News, the 20th Century Fox movie studio, The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post and three newspapers in Britain - down from four with the death of the News of the World.

The news of the FBI's investigation comes after U.S. media watchdogs were calling for the agency to investigate claims that News Corp hacked into the phones of victims of the 9/11 attacks.

Research group Media Matters was calling on the American public to lobby Congress to hold hearings 'to see just how far this scandal goes'...

Murdoch is a very clever man. But he is 80 now I think? The pressure will take its toll.

They have sunk to the very bottom with the phone hacking. But what emerges from this could maybe be a good thing.
Maybe now good journos will emerge? Our corrupt police will get the punishment they deserve.

Mp,s are all over this exacting revenge ofor the expences scandal.

A mate of mine who is a lawyer specialising in miscarragies of justice has said the floodgates could burst open because of unsafe convictions.

As a mere bystander its like watching a slow motion car crash.

Here's hoping it wrecks havoc in our institutions.

Well this is what is emerging from Fox news, also note that there is no mention about the connection between News of the Wolrd and Fox.

Fox and Friends’ Hilariously Pathetic Coverage of the Murdoch Hacking Scandal

By:Jim Newell

—Fox and Friends' Hilariously Pathetic Coverage of the Murdoch Hacking ScandalFox and Friends' Hilariously Pathetic Coverage of the Murdoch Hacking Scandal The dingbats at Fox News' illiterate dementia variety hour, Fox and Friends, finally got around to "covering" the News Corp. hacking scandal that's giving their parent company overlord, Rupert Murdoch, so many problems these days. It is one of the sadder bits of television you'll ever see, right up there with... every other Fox and Friends segment that's ever aired, probably.

The issue surrounding News Corp.'s hacking of several thousand private individuals is treated as a small part of a much broader "hacking" problem. There are hackings into the Pentagon and major banks all the time now, media consultant Robert Dilenschneider and idiot host Steve Doocy agree. Why do people only cover the one at Murdoch's papers?...

"We know it's a hacking scandal, shouldn't we get beyond it and deal with the issue of hacking? We have a serious hacking problem in this country," Dilenschneider reminded us. Listing several companies like CitiGroup that "have been hacked into," Dilenschneider asked, "Are they getting the same kind of attention for hacking that took place less than a year ago that News Corp is getting today?" "Right," Doocy said, before noting the Pentagon was also recently hacked.

Are they so unbelievably stupid as to not understand that in this case, it was News Corp. properties that were doing the hacking into private individuals — not vice versa? No, they're not that stupid. They're just doing their jobs.

Murdoch is a very clever man. But he is 80 now I think? The pressure will take its toll.

I remember when Maxwell was a bigger and more powerful figure than Murdoch. He went down. As did Conrad Black. These guys start believing their own press and think they're invulnerable. It takes a monumental ego to get to that position, but it also means that when it comes time to pay the piper, the bill is huge.

Former Fox News producer claimed network’s ‘Brain Room’ led to phone hacking

Monday, July 18th, 2011 -- 9:32 am

By Stephen C. Webster

A former producer with Fox News claimed in a lengthy essay gaining new traction this week that the conservative television station has a "Brain Room" in its New York headquarters which enables employees to view private telephone records with ease.

Though published years ago, the allegations have returned to relevance in the wake of the phone hacking scandals that have rocked News Corporation to its very core, threatening to topple one of the world's largest and most powerful media conglomerates.

According to former Fox News executive Dan Cooper, whose gripes with his former employer run quite deep after being fired in 1996, Fox News chief Roger Ailes allegedly had him design the so-called "Brain Room" to facilitate counter-intelligence efforts and other "black ops."

In a lengthy 2008 diatribe said to have doubled as a book pitch, Cooper claimed his own phone records had been hacked by Fox News employees, who he says used them to pinpoint him as a source used by David Brock, who founded liberal watchdog group Media Matters.

"Ailes knew I had given Brock the interview," he wrote. "Certainly Brock didn't tell him. Of course. Fox News had gotten Brock's telephone records from the phone company, and my phone number was on the list. Deep in the bowels of 1211 Avenue of the Americas, News Corporation's New York headquarters, was what Roger called the Brain Room. Most people thought it was simply the research department of Fox News. But unlike virtually everybody else, because I had to design and build the Brain Room, I knew it also housed a counterintelligence and black ops office. So accessing phone records was easy pie."

That wasn't the last time word of Ailes's "Brain Room" surfaced: in a recent piece for Rolling Stone, journalist Tim****nson discusses Cooper's allegations too, focusing on the man Ailes allegedly picked to run the secretive office.

"Befitting his siege mentality, Ailes also housed his newsroom in a bunker,"****nson wrote. "Reporters and producers at Fox News work in a vast, windowless expanse below street level, a gloomy space lined with video-editing suites along one wall and an endless cube farm along the other. In a separate facility on the same subterranean floor, Ailes created an in-house research unit – known at Fox News as the 'brain room' – that requires special security clearance to gain access. 'The brain room is where Willie Horton comes from,' says Cooper, who helped design its specs. 'It’s where the evil resides.'

"If that sounds paranoid, consider the man Ailes brought in to run the brain room: Scott Ehrlich, a top lieutenant from his political-consulting firm. Ehrlich – referred to by some as 'Baby Rush' – had taken over the lead on Big Tobacco’s campaign to crush health care reform when Ailes signed on with CNBC."

While none of these claims have been substantiated, they seem increasingly plausible given the widening coverup of Murdoch's British hacking scandals, which have grown from the desk of just one allegedly "rogue" journalist to topple some of Murdoch's top deputies, including the former publisher of The Wall Street Journal and the chief of News International, which oversees News Corp.'s British newspapers.

Cooper's phone records as well would not be the first time Fox News or U.S. News Corp. employees have been accused of hacking. According to The New York Times, a New Jersey company called Floorgraphics accused News Corp. in 2009 of hacking into their password-protected computer systems to obtain proprietary information, then allegedly spreading "false, misleading and malicious information" about the firm, causing them to lose important contracts.

News Corp.'s response to the scandal was to buy Floorgraphics outright, after offering a $29.5 million settlement.

Cases like Floorgraphics' are hardly unique: in recent years, the Times noted, News Corp. has paid over $655 million in settlements and hush money to keep allegations of anti-competitive and illegal behavior under the rug.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Department of Justice have launched their own investigations into whether News Corp. participated in the hacking of 9/11 victims or U.S. officials.

The hearing offered the remarkable spectacle of one of the world’s most powerful media magnates under the harsh spotlight of public scrutiny, sometimes seeming unfamiliar with the matters raised by the panel and frequently denying knowledge of them, while at the same time insisting that no one at their company had been “willfully blind.”

In the infamous words of Sgt Shultz ("Hogan's Hero's") Murdoch could be heard to say to the committee today: "I know nuthing!!!"

the laddie was trying to protect his father which is only
to be expected but the panel kept plodding away and
to be fair never really got anywhere.

the twat who tried to attack murdoch was a bit light
relief. done no one ant favours but fair play to auld
ruperts missus for banjoeing the dafty

i still think this could bring down the government though.
too many sleekit characters skulking around

this makes very interesting reading

As I'm want to say, many times "it's all about the money!"

FOX has carved out a niche, not really a news organization, but really a propaganda machine, that appeals to tin foil hat wearers and those who love scare tactics.

Have you really watched the content? Sometimes for sh1ts and giggles I watch FOXBusiness at noon. Mostly for Cheryl Casone, hahaha!! But as I listen or watch, it is evident to anybody with a brain, they slant all discussions. They also rarely if ever, have guests that would question the beliefs put forward.

They have polls, kinda what do you think questions. Things like "do you think Obama is screwing up the world?", then at the end, or middle (if necessary) they announce "you voted that, that is absolutely correct". They move the goalpost by announcing early if the votes aren't going their way. Whenever she does annouce the results, she reads 3 emails, always supporting the idiocy of what they asked, never a dissenting opinion.

So you see this is only one example, how you can slant things, subtly. To those less intelligent, it "sounds like" real news, but it's more like diversion or mild brain washing over time.

MSNBC: stopped visiting their website when I saw Obama selection advertisements on two places on the main page

CNN: Used to be my sole news source, probably the most politically central of the mix- still visit frequently

FOX: Probably my primary news source. They're very much republican leaning... but I'm a conservative republican to the core... so it appeals to me. But I lost a lot of respect when they essentially avoided any/all news regarding the NewsCorp scandal. The whole FOX LIES crap is absolutely ridiculous though.

If anything... Fox news leans right, Msnbc leans left and Cnn used to be left leaning but has taken he middle ground in the last year or so.

Really?

Then you should be able to refute all the claims made in this documentary.
