probably too late to help I have an Irish setter often mistaken for a red golden his name is Finnegan. Soooooooo if you are irish maybe something in gaelic or if you are another nationality an ethic last name might work.

Adaboy if it is a male, Adagirl if it is a female. Poochee, Tyson, Snots, Sargent, Apollo, Zeaus, Whatwhat, Sparky, Thor, Thorn, Boss, Fatso, Tiny, Dammit, Notagain, Thatyardgo, Shoesplat, and the all time best of all, Sh*thead. These are just a few good names. Or you could always give your new dog a sweet name, like Sandi, or Mandi, or Sweettater. Cheers You could always just name it Dog. Because after all it is a dog. However I named my 11 year old boxer/chow mix Kayla.

I've always been partial to the names "Mishka" and "Tundra" for dog names but since I have 6 cats I've never had the chance to name a dog. :(

I recently got a new puppy for my daughter. She had trouble coming up with a name. I aske her what her favorite TV show was. Her answer was Ghost Hunters. I then ask her who her favorite investigator was. Her answer was Tango. So, she named her puppy Tango.

When they arrive you will find a name that totally fits each personality. I have named pets before getting to know them and then regretted my choice. Wait a while before naming them.

Have you considered choosing names from NON-traditional sources? You could, for example, find names in the Periodic Table of Elements ... Imagine 'Niobium' and 'Argon'; or 'Tungsten' and 'Yttrium'. 'Carbon' and 'Copper'. There's always the fashion world for inspiration ... 'Victoria' and 'Secret', for example. Or 'Hem' and 'Line'. 'Herring' and 'Bone'. What about the military ... ? 'Combat' and 'Boot'. 'Hand' and 'Grenade'. 'Spit' and 'Shine'. 'K' and 'P'. Automobiles could be a source ... 'Hot' and 'Rod'. 'Piston' and 'Ring'. 'Point' and 'Plug'. Finally, Astronomy: 'Gas' and 'Giant'. 'Jupiter' and 'Mars'. 'Red' and 'Dwarf'. 'Super' and 'Nova'. 'Light' and 'Speed' ... so many choices, so little time ...

Dogs always have their own little personalities. Sometimes its best to wait a little bit to settle on names. They'll do something that will remind you of someone/something and show their personalities. One will be more dominant than the other, so giving the more passive one the more "dominant" name wouldn't make sense.

The names of pets I've had

Tick Tock - I was a kid who loved the nursery song hickory****ry doc ( this dog lived 17 yrs )
Thunder and Lightening - Brother and sister kittens who played with a electrical outlet their first night home ... it was a stormy night. Need I say more?
Mioggi- A play on the name Mr. Miyagi from the Karate Kid that became a rhyme "My doggie's name is Mioggi". The name Mioggi was so loved it was used on two different pets.
Black Jack - after actor Jack Black! I <3 him
