The Vatican had what amounts to a formal memorandum of understanding with the Third Reich, maybe that's what he was referring to.
In any case any attack on the far right is a good attack as tar as I'm concerned.

I don't disagree with you about the far left. You're being pretty defensive about the whole thing and it's not a good look.

Um an extremely large proportion of the people who thought Jews were Christ-killers did so because that was Catholic doctrine.
No point defending the Vatican, they're completely morally bankrupt and their history (and present) demonstrates this quite clearly.

And yes frankster_p... those poor, persecuted Catholics. Cry me a river.
I do not deny that American churches are nuts but at least they haven't made a cottage industry out of child rape.

"Hopefully the Northern League stays in power, they are needed.

Cheers.
F.P."

Yeah. They've done such an awesome job with the economy after all. Truly stellar. World standard.
Well, if you compare it to say... North Korea's.
How many years of inaction and deriliction do you need before you realize how hopelessly awful "Berlo" and his middle-of-the-road fascist buddies in the Northern League are? Do they LITERALLY have to piss money away before that happens?

To be fair internetdating i dont see italy having visits from american dictators geeing them up for some oil crusade....

Italy learnt years ago not follow others into dirty wars with the same passion we do, we are still are yet learn and only the hard way will teach us.

Just being fair.

If Italy can corner green technoligies in its reknowned manafacturing and engineering abilities......they will go far...

Many Catholic priests were tortured and killed by the Nazis for harbouring and helping Jews as were many other people, yes even the ordinary germans who helped the Jews were dealt with as harshly.

There are also cases of clergy from other denominations who abused children, this act was not the sole rite of the catholics.

Some ministers of the Whitlam Government didn't look too closely at the credentials or background of some of the people they were dealing with and we ended up having to pay for these lapses in judgement.

We don't have the power to dictate what other countries do, nor should we.

In the first war with Iraq, Australia sent troops to help the Americans to free the Kuwaitis and got a bill from the American Government for the missiles that the RAAF used.

Overall we in Australia are lucky to have the tolerance to welcome new immigrants and too believe in a fair go for all peoples regardless of their cultural backgrounds.

Unfortunately we also suffer from idiots who have immigrated to Australia bringing their hatred with them as could be seen in the race riots a few years ago.

People tend to over focus on the idiots and not the silent majority of our citizens that have come from all walks of life.

In my family we have descendants of Italians, Scots, Welsh, English, Germans, Aboriginies, Africans, Norwegians, Greeks,Swedes and other cultures so with my family and my extended family we consider ourselves too be Australians and damned lucky too call Australia home

So what does Joe (and Jill) Average Australian think of this in the context "Australia - The Lucky Country"

Australia rates well on global corruption

The latest Corruption Perceptions Index conducted on 180 countries indicates that Australia is perceived as the eighth least corrupt nation in the world, up one place from last year’s index.

Transparency International released the index showing New Zealand and Denmark at the top, with Australia having the sixth highest score along with Canada and Iceland. The most corrupt on the list was war-torn, poverty-stricken African nation Somalia.

“The international community must find efficient ways to help war-torn countries to develop and sustain their own institutions,” said head of Transparency International Huguette Labelle, in response.

Index ranking come from surveys that measure the perceived levels of corruption in the public sectors of various countries

Argh! Don't get me started on the bumper stickers

surveys that measure the perceived levels of corruption

I'm highly skeptical of surveys measuring corruption... "ok kids, hands up who's been naughty today?" lol. The most you can say from that is that we have better spin doctors than other places. We might be more sophisticated about it, but we're hardly clean. Read up on lobbyists in Canberra if you think money doesn't talk here.
