So boxing just managed 600k buys for Chavez VS Sergio and at exactly the same time managed to shatter Showtime's rating record. Does this mean you guys are going stop saying boxing is dead after Manny and Mayweather retire? I mean, I looked back a few pages and there's a bunch of guys saying boxing is dead after Manny and May ... I'm curious what they're going to say now because I'm sure there's something.

I agree. MMA is my favourite sport, it's all I watch.

Anderson Silva proved once again why he is the GOAT this past weekend. Yeah you might say, he fought Bonnar who isn't even ranked in the top 30 but it's just how he beat him what will stick in peoples minds. The shit he does in that cage is unreal and you just don't see it ever.

How he embarrassed Forrest Griffin is also some matrix shit.

And Jon Fitch in an exciting fight??? I never thought I'd see the day lol.

Bump....since I can't start a thread.

Last night, Anthony Pettis submitted Ben Henderson for the Lightweight title.

It was a heck of a night of fights.

I loved seeing Mir get wrecked again.

And of course, watching Mendes TKO that dry humper Guida.

Mendes has a very impressive well conditioned physique.Everybody has seen the backflip. The power and flexibility in his thoracic region became noticeable on the ground when he stuffed Guida's attempts to get a grip on his legs.I don't think Guida landed one clean shot on him.

Quinton6- I give due props to the legends of boxing-Ali, Frazier, e tc. However, they wouldn't stand a chance if they were to match up (at their prime) with the fighters of the MMA or UFC.
MMA and UFC fighters do use some of the same training as boxers do, but the martial arts training involved takes mma and ufc to another level.
Man, I miss my cable, somebody, PLEASE tell me what is happening in the UFC and MMA right now.

Since the last person doesn't now what is going on

GSP is defending his WW title against Johnny Hendricks this weekend.

Cain just defeated Dos Santos for a second time last month in their 3rd HW title fight.

Chris Weidman is the MW champ.

Jon Jones is still the LHW champ.

Anthony Pettis is the LW champ.

Jose Aldo is still the FW champ.

Renan Barao is still the interim BM champ.

Demitrious Johnson is still the Flyweight champ.

And Vitor Belfort became the first person to KO Dan Henderson last weekend.

dwayne88- Thank you for the update! :)
I'm not too surprised that Belfort managed to KO Henderson, Belfort is a beast.
I know it's not a personality contest, but GSP is sooooooo arrogant, I admit it would make my day to see Hendricks upset him.

GSP looked like he was beaten with a rake but won a split decision.
Weidman has a rematch with Anderson in Dec.
Jones narrowly beat Gustaffson and left the ring on a stretcher apparently.
Pettis injured his knee recently.
Barao will defeat Cruz soon.
Henderson should not have agreed to a 205 fight.

statemachine500- Thank you for the update on the outcomes of the most recent matches.
I already read on the yahoo home page that GSP won on a split decision, sure to be talked about and debated for a while.
I was floored by what Joe Rogan is saying about GSP. He claims GSP has brain damage and should retire, he goes so far as to claim that GSP admitted he has missing time and might have been abducted by aliens! Pretty bazaar and not too smart considering GSP could clean his clock and still be home in time for dinner!

Wow.He should get out now.He did seem shaken up after the fight.Once you get some damage the ensuing is much worse. He has lots of money.I guess it's true about the power of Hendricks.

Any sport must be better than conventional boxing. Look what happened to Mohammed Ali. Say no more.

Statemachine- How exciting is it in the women's division?!
Rhonda Rousey seems unstoppable, do you think that will change with Gina Cerano coming out of retirement?
I thought Liz Carmushe would defeat Misha Tate, but Tate won a three round decision. Great stuff :)

Frankbevan- I looked it up to be sure, Meisha Tate won a three round decision by all three judges against Carmushe.
Maybe you were thinking of a different fight?

frankbevan- Thanks for the update.
Don't you think it's a little harsh to say you hope Rousey breaks Carmushe's arm?
Rousey seems unbeatable, but I respect Carmushe too. Have you seen her workout routine? She has a tremendous work ethic. She works at a gym and gives fighting lessons, in addition to preparing for matches.

I was just wondering if anyone else is finding less bars and/or restaurants showing UFC PPV's these days. The Buffalo Wild Wings near my home isn't showing Johnson/Caraiso, and this is the first PPV they haven't shown in years. A lot of other places in my area that used to show them regularly have stopped. Is anyone else seeing this?

Yeah I went to one that was showing then went there for another and they said they weren't showing it. The first one wasn't that huge of an event either.

I just enjoyed the latest season of the Ultimate Fighter. They featured strawweight (115 lb.) women. Some of them were very hot with great athletic bodies.

I would like to talk about the next fight scheduled for Rowdy Ronda Rousey and Holly Holm, the preachers daughter.
Holm is seriously outmatched, by the far more experienced Rousey.
Is this giving a novice chance? Or is this just one more fight where Dana white protects his golden girl in a sure for win?

cooldog65- Yeah, I posted that without doing enough looking into Holmes.
I almost retracted it, but this thread is mostly dead, so I didn't bother.
After looking into Holmes, I found out she has a perfect record in kick boxing.
She is also undeafeated since coming to mma fighting.
Rousey is a well rounded fighter, but shines on the mat, which is why the majority of her wins are by submission.
I had a feeling if the fight stayed standing, Holmes could give her a good fight, holy God, was that an understatement.
Rousey tried to out box a kick boxer, BAD move! :0
Holmes made her look like a chump, you could SEE the fear in Rousey going into round 2.
I wish I had placed a bet on this one.
It's sure to go down as one of the greatest upsets EVER.
They are already talking about a rematch.
I don't think Rousey should get a rematch right away.
Whoever would have fought Rousey HAD she won, should fight Holmes next.
Rousey lost, she should go down in the rankings and fight others until she works her way back to a rematch with Holmes.

In "real" fighting, I.e. without rules, on the street the winner will more often be the most vicious, willing to use weapons of any kind available, either carrying one or using available materials, such as sticks , bars, rocks, bricks, etc.

Commando tactics are super dirty.

Holly Holms.

Her last fight she didn't look quite the same.Pretty sure she was using previously, seeing this a lot right now.
