It is a great concept. I had really high hopes for it. Maybe in a really large area it is better but in he nearest big city to me you see the same people at pretty much every outing. The men are predatory and the women are cliquey. It is like a bad John Hughes movie for middle aged people instead of high schoolers!

I do agree that real life is where it's at though. I can go out and am guaranteed to meet someone. Is it someone I would want to date? Odds are no but that is the thing about odds. Eventually your luck turns.

I live in a large metro area. My hobby and social outlet is car shows and cruise-in's with my streetrod. Very few single women into that. A couple years ago I went over to the local senior center(55 and older) to get a refresher course on cribbage. I was the baby there, but a couple 80 something gals asked in I was coming back again. :-)

This brings back a memory of when I was in physical therapy two years ago, and swimming at a local recreation center pool was part of it. The first day, I was excited about the potential of running into some "bikini babes". I oiled myself up, took my hair down, shook it out, and marched out of the locker area ready for the party to begin.

I got out there and the only women present were there for senior citizen water aerobics.

(cue the "Price is Right" losing horn)

I remember when a friend got married down in Mexico. I thought " ahh, at last I have an excuse to show off my hot bod and pretend not to notice the looks of lust and admiration from all the women of the social circle ! ". I oiled myself up , did some push ups and went to join the others on the beach the first day there. now I see why Pig has a profile photo from the rear--someone asked if he was back. Hanging out with the hot friends takes a lot of self confidence. My BFF is telling me how depressed her son is, living out in the boondocks and finding no one. I pointed out when I was his age, I lived in a similar desert and complained, but her response at the time was to buck up and stop complaining (while she was getting chased by men). And her response this time was, "well, you're you, my son is attractive, so its a bigger tragedy"

OOf. Truth cuts. But watching other men pant after a hottie who is a friend and treats me with platonic intimacy...yeah, that's fun. In my case, I figured it was just making up for all the times I suffered over someone else :) maybe its instead a human nature thing.

but I give old men on bikes credit, good for them for exercising, and they don't have to worry about lower sperm counts on those pencil erasers they try to pass off as seats these days. But I instinctively try not to look lower than their shoulders, that's a train wreck I don't want to see.

I did escape from it to go to a public school for junior year, though. It was like leaving the military and being sent to Club Med. The public school I ended up in was great in many aspects, but definitely not from an educational standpoint.

As for the girls, many of them I was with in Catholic school ended up being the biggest party girls after graduation. I often ran into them at concerts seeing them donning groupie attire, tokin' and drinking up a storm.

Pig, thankfully, siblings proceeded me and said they wanted out from Catholic jail, so I didn't have to go. It has always been said they do offer a better education than public school. I enjoyed church. I would get money for the basket and spend it on candy or buy french fries for me and my gf. I'd look at the time in the cars in the pkg lot, back in the days of analog, to know when church was ready to let out, and head home. I didn't have anything as lofty as a watch. Today's kids just look at their cell phones. Nuns must be whacking kids left and right if they use them in class.

I'm surprised no one has at least smacked a nun. Today, that person would be a hero, instead everyone laments about the abuse, from being thrown down stairs, to broken bones. They were brutal, but I heard the brothers were also. I still believe in God, and prayed to Him and St. Francis recently when my 15 year old dog had to be put under for an MRI and then again for surgery. Did she survive because she's fighter, had a excellent neurosurgeon or divine intervention. I think it could be all three. It's easy to diss religion, because who represents God are mere mortals that are sinful. For my first marriage, it was concelebrated by my priest, my ex-h's cousin who was a priest, and the kiss of death, my ex-h's mother's bf, the priest! That never seemed right, and thought it doomed the marriage, lol

oh yes, "with friends like this, who needs enemas" Not her finest moment, but she can be fiercely loyal at other times. it did tell me a lot about where her mind was at, tho. and you called it right, O, her son does take after his father's looks. but so does the daughter. Still, not the first attractive woman to have that attitude, either. As for Catholic School, some of the gals wouldn't even use the F-bomb, but others would surely engage in it...and then pretend they were drunk at the time. oh well. I did go from straight A in public school to C in my first year at parochial school, actually had to work to get my grades. But Catholic schools also get to pick their students, you have to pass an ap test to get in. public schools can't be picky.

I could argue that point of a catholic education being better than public school.

Through the 5th grade, I was in a catholic school. 6th, in public, and was I in for a shock. I was so far behind, they considered putting me back to serve a second term in 5th grade. 6th, was very hard for me. I broke out in nervous rashes, and my doctor considered the possibility of me developing an ulcer.

I wouldn't send my dog to a catholic school- unless he would bite a nun.

Seamus, I'd hate to say spelling and punctuation matters, but...your run-on sentence sounds like someone who talks fast and then has to gasp for breath afterward.
