Oh yes, let's veto the Keystone. Why transport oil economically, and safely?

Yeah good point, terrorists never would attack a pipeline, especially one that traveled near the largest clean water drinking supply.

Let them do it by rail, that way, any ol terrorist can derail a tank train with a crowbar. (Yes, a dozen pried up spikes should do the job.) Then we can clean up a huge mess in some remote area- MAYBE.

You sound like you have done some thinking about this.

Maybe you should join up and help the terrorists out.

Or- we can do all jump on the alternative energy bandwagon. Try coming up with something new, by candlelight. There is no blasted way we can come up with new, without using current resources. Even better! Let's have the government give away our tax money to every shyster that comes along that claims that they can come up with one. And then after 3-5 years, they come up with zilch, say OOP! we was wrong! thanks for funding us, BYE!

Great point, they should just keep giving billions to the oil industry.

And clearly using wind / solar and other means of new ideas is not something that the USA could do, so you may as well just give in and say "f*ck it" as clearly it is just too hard and let the smarter countries leave you in the dust.

Smart thinking, and for the same reason we should abandon our airports, amusement parks, colleges, shopping malls, because they are good targets for terrorism. We'll just sit in our dark unheated homes and wait for all the bad people to go away.

Leftists. Liberals, Socialists, call them what you will - don't like private industry, and anything they do to slow it down is considered a victory, even if the rest of the world wants that product.
Much better to take taxpayer money and subsidize other technologies in the hope that someday they will be as affordable as what we have already been using for the last 150 years - that's "progress", just ask your President.

from my pal Skootchie:

Can't wait to see tgif admonish the Republicans if they allow DHS to be left unfunded. There will be far more jobs lost in that action than the veto of the pipeline. Plus, they would be weakening the country's security. Hope to see some consistency. You can do it!!

the Libs thought if they coupled the DHS with the illegal immigration bill that the golfer wanted they could slide it through.

we're too smart for that so we separated it. now we will fund DHS AND stop the golfer's stupid move.

Yeah ... we know all about that in Ohio. We're trying to get renewable and alternative energy here but the "gangster in chief" Kasich will not let us.

... American Wind Energy Association says the practical effect would be to force future Ohio wind-energy projects to acquire so much acreage as to discourage construction in Ohio.

First they passed Senate Bill 310, which freezes for two years renewable-energy and energy-efficiency standards ... a virtually unanimous General Assembly passed in 2008. Federal regulators are telling Ohio and other states to slash carbon emissions from power plants but the "gangster in chief" won't let us build alternative clean energy sources.

He's used to getting pay-offs so now we'll have to dig around and find out who's paying him off this time.

SB 310 will severely undermine a well-established alternative energy industry that's meant billions of dollars in investment in the Buckeye State. Additionally, Senate Bill 310 disadvantages small business and residential ratepayers. It turns what was once a "customer-facing" policy intended to reduce energy waste and save Ohioans money on their utility bills, into a "utility-centered" policy that allows utilities to meet customer demand with expensive generation resources in lieu of the least-cost option for consumers - energy efficiency.

Not only are Ohio’s renewable and energy efficiency standards a boon to our state’s economy and essential to keeping energy bills low, they are also vital tools to ensure that Ohio can cost-effectively implement US EPA’s carbon pollution rule for existing power plants.

Teabagger governors ... hard at work!

did you ever see the photo op of THE GOLFER wearing a bomber jacket in the hopes of making the low information voters believe he supports our military? ha ha
nothing could be further than the truth.

he can wear a bomber jacket but..........

ordered the military to stand down on Benghazi.

didn't bother to attend the funeral of Maj. Gen. Harold Greene the highest ranking officer killed in combat since Viet Nam but offered condolences to the family of a dope smoking strong arm street thug shot by police in Ferguson, Ms.

he refused to order flags flown at half mast for Gen Greene but did so when drug addict Whitney Houston died from an alcohol and drug over dose in a bathroom.

under his regime there are more homeless veterans than illegal aliens.

he exchanged 5 dangerous terrorists for a deserter and Taliban sympathizer but let decorated Marine Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi languish in a Mexican jail without lifting a finger to obtain his release for a long period of time.

under his stupidity, veterans benefits have been cut while illegal aliens receive food stamps, driver's licenses, federal housing and health insurance paid by those Americans who can find a job in his recession.

he failed to attend the Charlie Hebdo rally in Paris but made a comedic video taking selfies on the day they found out the American missionary Kayla Mueller was killed by ISIS.

but remember when the Liberals called George Bush a fascist dictator when he wore a bomber jacket?

the worst of the worst, this clown golfer, this knuckle bumping buffoon idiot has got to go!
he makes me sick to my stomach as he does millions of patriotic Americans.

And clearly, you are lost in the shuffle of your own argument.

The USA uses virtually NO OIL to generate electricity, much like other "smarter" countries. So spending billions on solar, wind, etc. etc has nothing at all to do with crude oil, a pipeline that carries crude oil, crybabies who think solar will replace this oil, or derelicts who try to use all this crap as a scapegoat in some paranoid crusade.

In 2013, U.S energy sources and percent share of total electricity generation were

Coal 39%
Natural Gas 27%
Nuclear 19%
Hydropower 7%
Other Renewable 6%
Biomass 1.48%
Geothermal 0.41%
Solar 0.23%
Wind 4.13%
Petroleum 1%
Other Gases < 1%

Absolutely fantastic job at being so distracted that you take my reply out of context.......but whatever.......he/she has so many profiles that he/she cant keep track of who they are responding to, or what subject matter they posted to what thread.

Please refresh yourself with your past posts. There are all there to see & reference.

No, not out of context. Just responding to your multiple posts on how you & your other profile continually preach that solar/wind somehow can miraculously replace this oil, so you believe there is no need for a pipeline to pipe this oil from out of the ground through a pipeline, because solar/wind can replace it (re: msgs 410, 415, 229, 235, 224 for this specific profile) .

See, wind & solar produce ELECTRICITY. Period.

Crude oil produces GASOLINE, DIESEL FUEL, PLASTICS, ASPHALT, FERTILIZER, Perfume, Insecticide, Petroleum Jelly, Soap, Vitamin Capsules & about 1000 other products.

One 42-gallon barrel of oil creates 19.4 gallons of gasoline. The rest (over half) is used to make things like:

Solvents, Motor Oil, Bearing Grease, Ink, Floor Wax, Ballpoint Pens, Football Cleats, Upholstery, Sweaters, Boats, Insecticides, Sports Car Bodies, Nail Polish, Fishing lures, Dresses, Tires, Golf Bags, Perfumes, Cassettes, Dishwasher parts, Tool Boxes, Shoe Polish, Motorcycle Helmets, Caulking, Petroleum Jelly, Transparent Tape....

........ CD Players, Faucet Washers, Antiseptics, Clothesline, Curtains, Food Preservatives, Basketballs, Vitamin Capsules, Antihistamines, Purses, Shoes, Dashboards, Cortisone, Deodorant, Footballs, Putty, Dyes, Panty Hose, Refrigerant, Percolators, Life Jackets, Rubbing Alcohol, Linings, Skis, TV Cabinets, Carpet, Electrician's Tape....

.... Tool Racks, Car Battery Cases, Epoxy, Paint, Mops, Slacks, Insect Repellent, Umbrellas, Yarn, Fertilizers, Hair Coloring, Roofing, Toilet Seats, Fishing Rods, Lipstick, Denture Adhesive, Linoleum, Ice Cube Trays, Synthetic Rubber, Speakers, Plastic Wood, Electric Blankets, Glycerin, Tennis Rackets, Rubber Cement, Rubber Boots....

....Dice, Nylon Rope, Candles, Trash Bags, House Paint, Water Pipes, Hand Lotion, Roller Skates, Surf Boards, Shampoo, Paint Rollers, Shower Curtains, Guitar Strings, Luggage, Aspirin, Safety Glasses, Antifreeze, Football Helmets, Awnings, Eyeglasses....

...and last but not least, Wind Turbines, and Solar Panels!

No need to "replace" this oil, as none of it's destined for use in this country in any case. It's a pity that short sighted oligarchs in Canada and their political buds don't mind trashing a province or two for their own ends, but don't see it's necessary for the U.S. to do so in return for next to nothing.

In China, we used to say the problem with the peasants is that they couldn't see past the next harvest. The problem here is that none of the monied classes gives a tinker's fart for past the next annual report. Since we need oil for all those other aims (and we do), we should be working much harder than we are to find alternatives for it, all around. And meanwhile substitute where we can and hoard, hoard, hoard. Even peasants don't eat their seed corn.

Rudy Giuliani's claim that Barack Obama does not "love America" and "wasn't brought up the way you were brought up and I was brought up through love of this country" has been widely criticized as disingenuous and possibly racist.

^^^In no case is that correct. Its 100% wrong, & shows that all of your fake profiles get their blogspew info from the same agendist website.

This is one of those " falsehood-based political jibe" blogspew soundbytes that is splattered around. Dumba$$ hand puppets swallow the loads of agendists & respew this $hit all over the internet. These agendists then saturate the forums with this dumba$$ crap that they believe, because they read it on some agendist blogsite, or on some anti-pipeline website & it supports their agenda.....so it must be true.

The United States IMPORTS much of this Canadian oil sands-derived crude oil for domestic consumption .

You are being made to believe that all this crude oil will flow straight through the country from its oil fields in Canada, straight to some ocean tanker, & shipped out, as if we are just simply a transportation whore for this oil. That is simply NOT TRUE.

Canadian oil sands-derived crude oil is just one part of our multi-source energy portfolio. Millions of gallons of it goes to refinery in thousands of railroad cars that criss-cross the country 24/7 in rail tanker cars, pulled by those magical "ELECTRIC" locomotives, which burn millions of gallons of diesel fuel, because some crybabies dont want a pipeline to pipe it to refinery.

Oil companies generate substantial quantities of crude oil and related substances from the natural bitumen in oil sands, particularly deposits in Alberta, Canada. In 2012, the United States imported 438 million barrels of oil sands-derived crude oils, 125% more than in 2005.

http://fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R43390.pdf

To be clear, yes, some of it DOES go straight to some ocean tanker.... AFTER US oil companies refine this CANADIAN crude.

See, we buy it, refine it, & eventually resell some of this refined product, earning outside $$$ that helps reduce the trade deficit, while increasing GDP. Canada wholesales crude to US-based oil companies, & the USA reaps this value-added revenue refining/reselling it.

Over a million gallons of this oil was spilled from rail cars in 2013. Why are we still chancing this risk, all while burning millions & millions of gallons of Diesel fuel hauling these hundreds of thousands of tank cars to their destinations thousands of miles from their point of origin, all the while under the threat of a possible derailment disaster when it could be piped through a dedicated pipeline , PUMPING it to its destination, which does NOT require burning millions & millions of gallons of Diesel fuel ?

FYI: The more you keep repeating that derp the more guilty you look.

Because the truth is current USA laws restrict domestic crude oil from being exported for the most part, but this Canadian oil would not be subject to the same restrictions thus allowing them to export as much as they want.

Because if you look at the current trends that is what they are doing with the refined product now, but hey do not let facts get in your way.

To be clear, yes, some of it DOES go straight to some ocean tanker....

and by "some" you mean most.

Try & do some research before spitting out loads from outdated agendist blogsites.

25 Jun 2014
President Barack Obama used the power of his Executive Office “pen” Wednesday morning to allow the U.S. Commerce Department to issue a ruling that all but terminates a four-decade Congressional restriction against exporting U.S. domestically produced crude oil.
The new rule re-interprets a “refined” oil exemption in the laws to include crude oil that has been stripped of natural gas liquids. This process is commonly used by ports in exporting countries to safely load crude oil onto ocean tankers.

Depends on how you do your calculations, but after it is refined (which is how they get around the export issues) most of it gets exported.

Either way, this pipeline has nothing to do with domestic use, it is about moving a product for export and nothing more.

Thus it will have little to no benefit the average consumer and in fact when you factor in the risks involved it does not make financial or ecological sense to do it.

i'd work with a rational congress to have that oil refined and sold in THIS country.

there are some things that government must do to keep their economy stable until we can get another source of energy.

it would be like your family is starving, you have money but the powers that be are telling you to pass the food over to a guy who is fat and overfed.

our economy cannot go forward with $3.50 - $4 a gallon gasoline.

one of the OPEC chieftains said a couple of weeks ago that America can look forward to $200 a barrel oil soon.

we already have price controls indirectly in the form of the minimum wage.

What happens when America doesn’t need Canada’s oil?
Time to find a new buyer.

Feb 27, 2013

For the past decade, Canada has thrived on the good fortunes of the oil and gas industry, but those times, Redford made clear, are coming to an end. “Because of the rapidly growing levels of oil production in the United States and the fact that we’ve virtually nowhere else to sell our oil than the U.S. market, Alberta is getting just over $50 a barrel for our oil”
