I've also noticed an increased frequency of natural disasters lately.
Really? Natural disasters to equal the last Glacial Maximus, the eruptions of the super volcano under Yellowstone, Mt. Vesuvius, and Krakatoa? Is Mt. St. Helens a recent disaster? How about the meteorite that took out the dinosaurs--or do you mean "homegrown" disasters such as the San Francisco earthquake and the New Madrid (Missouri) quake?
How about the disasters on this site? http://www.environmentabout.com/9/biggest-natural-disasters-in-human-history
