As short as you feel confident to wear OP. I have good legs and I wear very short sometimes, especially in the summer. I don't care about the age thing so long as when I look in the mirror it tells me I look great!

I also like long skirts and dresses and regularly wear those for my ballroom dancing. I don't let society dictate what I should or should not wear and neither do I let fashion dictate. I love dressing up and looking very girlie.

MOST men have very good imaginations. I've learned over the years that if you have VERY nice legs a man will ALMOST always imagine that your above the knee length skirt is shorter than it really is.

I will wear mine an inch or two above the knee. I would feel silly with it any shorter. But that's just MHO.

I believe you should wear what you like and what feels comfortable for you. I know I am older but I feel attractive in what I wear. Just because I show a little leg does not make look like I am trying too hard. My skirts are shorter but think I dress with some class.

Today I have a nice short skirt on with bright matching top and heels for summer. My legs are one of my best features so why not show them? I am comfortable doing it and have not received any complaints! lol....just be what/who you are and who cares what others think as long as you are not indecent?

Actually, this isn't true. Some women are very clueless as to what their legs look like.

Age is not important just appearance

To the OP, wear what's comfortable for you and right for your body, as you've done and will continue to do so. I run a lot and cycle as well and my legs (calves especially) now look good so I'm not afraid of showing them off but not always in a mini skirt either. I also wear short shorts, something I didn't do before as I didn't exercise as much.

Every time I see a woman, regardless of age, wear a mini skirt AND keeps tugging at it to bring/keep it down, I think "wrong, wrong, wrong" short skirts need self confidence to look good on a woman, no matter the age.

Yes, pec2012.....women should wear their skirts, their skirts shouldn't wear them -- no matter what age -- but especially when one is "of a certain age."

I had a friend who used to insist on buying her clothes about one or two sizes too small, and everytime we went out someplace, she spent more time "battling" those clothes than enjoying herself.

Just running across this and here's my dollars worth. Inflation you know. ;)

Whatever the woman wants to wear, THAT is what's OK. It shouldn't matter if she has nice looking legs or not (this is not for the guys to enjoy, it's for her and her comfort) ...the choice of apparel is entirely up to the individual...as it should be.

This issue, like the length of hair for a woman over a certain age, is...much ado about nothing and for sure nobody elses business. I dress for me...period...always have and always will. If i want to wear longer hair or a shorter skirt that's exactly what i'll do. I wear short shorts, skirts/skorts and i'm almost 69 yrs of age. And i will no matter my age or whether or not my legs look good to somebody else. If that bothers anybody then that's on them. I couldn't care less what others think i should wear. Sheesh!

Honestly, i can't believe that this is still an issue in 2012!

I have the opposite problem. I'm short and I don't hem so everything's at my ankles. I have good ankles. ;-) I think so anyway. I've been told I don't dress "sexy" enough. One guy I dated said I dress like an Amish. That was when I went to work wearing tailored pants and a long sleeved blouse. So whatever.

Well kc2stpr...I don't know who you are directing your comment(s) at but my opinion is as i stated in my first post on this thread. A woman (or a man) should wear what SHE/HE is comfortable wearing...period. The rest of the worlds opinion should not matter.

If you, or anybody else, WANTS to dress according to how others think you should...that is your choice. As long as a person isn't hurting anybody or breaking the law why would anybody concern themselves with what another is wearing.

In closing...YEP, if a 250 lb woman wants to wear a bikini and is comfortable enough with herself to do that...she should...period! Ain't nobody elses business...

Mostly, it is none of our business what anyone wears.

The only caveat I would add is that people do need to take into account where they are. There are places where certain types of clothing should and/or should not be worn. There is a certain way to dress for where you work, or what type of restaurant you are going to, etc. No woman (0r man, lol) should wear a small mini-skirt or a crop top when working in, say, a law office or a school. You don't wear swim suits to church. And men, head wear should be removed when inside a building. (Yes, I am THAT old-fashioned.)
