WHERE WOULD YOU RELOCATE? suggestions on cities/towns Page 3 of 4    (1, 2, 3, 4)
Dubai, i would definitely suggest anywhere in the UAE but dubai and abu dhabi are both amazing places and the standard of life there is amazing!

Dubai gets crapped on a lot by people who know nothing about it, but it's really not a bad place, if you can deal with the heat. You're absolutely right, the standard of living is through the roof, and there are NO taxes. Definitely a great spot to move to for a few years, make a bundle of cash, and then leave.

Plenty of gorgeous single women here too.

Also, if you're thinking about Canada, remember that East Coast = Best Coast.

Close your eyes, put your finger on a spot on the map. Open your eyes and where your finger is pointing, thats where you go!!

^^
I agree!
Pack a bag, pick your starting place, do your research then go! Follow where your path takes you.
Ohhhh the experiences! I'm jealous already.
But..please, be safe.

Savannah.... do tell more! I'm considering it an option as I'm trying to find something not so redneck on the SE coast. I actually go again for work in the next couple of weeks to Savannah and the only requirement I need to relocate (work related) is to be near an airport and SAV is a quick trip into ATL or Charlotte. I'm a western at heart, so a move to the east is gonna be hard enough. Overseas would be the best, but can't. Miami w/ a friend is the other option.

as to the original poster.... Memphis? ugggg, I go there for work as well and what I've been told is it's rough (it seems to be battling with Detroit for murder capital of the US).

Portland is great (economy is sucking but it always has). SLC if you like the desert & mountains. Cali has something for everyone. Denver has lots to do, outdoors & the city. Austin?

Overseas... hell's yeah, but Kabul?! :D

Don't laugh, people, but Google "Pittsburgh Top Ten Lists" and come check us out. Plus it's pretty inexpensive to live here. We are actually gaining population for the first time in decades, and the incoming population are educated professionals.

I have said that if I ever left the Burgh again (not a chance!) I could enjoy living in Flagstaff, AZ or Boerne, TX. But to me, the Burgh is just the right size. It's a city made up of small towns.

Some interesting articles on Dubai lately...I wouldn't want to live there.

I have relocated many times in my lifetime and love it where I am.
Saskatchewan, Canada on an acreage with the trees and the hills, my horses, dogs and great caring neighbours.
A great economy with lots of jobs.
Clean air, beautiful sunrises and sunsets, wonderful spring, summers, fall and winters and always something to do - riding horses, fishing, golfing, harvest get togethers, winter skidooing, skiing, spring and the smell of the new earth. Something for every season, seasons are definate and even when it is -30 below with the sunshining, we bundle up and go outside for a walk, it's still a great day.
Love it!!!

In reading most of these posts I see no one discusses money. Obviously, where and how you live depends on your available funds and/or how you can earn a living in said place. Money being set aside give me LA or NYC "and" a place in Utah mountains. There is nothing like the fast pace and energy of cities like above. My preference would be LA.
If I had less money I would take some place rural in northern Florida. West coast maybe. And live the bohemian life style near the beach. South Florida is way to crazy and stressed. I have been to many countries and islands. I LOVE to travel. But Costa Rica would be my outside the US choice. Cool people, beautiful beaches, amazes jungles and mountains. Just enough danger and exciting things to do to keep you on busy and your toes! Great food and crazy fun driving!

I would really love to live right outside of Denver in Stapleton, Colorado. Denver proper would be wonderful too.
It's high and dry. Cold snow and sunny heat. Big city and plenty of greenspace. Progressive and cultural. Plus they have a metro train service.

Austin, Texas is pretty decent.

Guess what--Portland isn't Oregon. There is a lot more to this state besides that rain-soaked city. Southern Oregon gets 19 inches a year.
But--shhh-we don't want too many people to realize that.
Actually, anyone who has only lived one place in the US needs to explore a little. Yes, go see New York--but you have to be a little nuts to live there. Pittsburgh is nice. There are people who like Kansas City. San Francisco or San Diego--foRget anything near LA. Check out Atlanta or Charlottesville. That's if you like cities. I've done that--nice places to visit but for real quality of life you want some place with beautiful countryside, lots of trees, clean air, nice people, and government that mostly leaves people alone. Vermont is good. Maine is ideal in Spring and fall but the winters are brutal. Montana. Mendocino coast. Humboldt. Mountain communities most anywhere. I live in the best part of Oregon--but not going to tell you where.

OP, you sound a lot like me and kind of in the same region. I think the question is, what do you enjoy and want out of your life?

For me, I currently live in northern Alabama but I enjoy backpacking, camping, skiing, snowboarding and various outdoor activities that aren't readily available in this area or the region. I'm thinking about heading west myself since the quality of life is more suited for the lifestyle I enjoy. I have a cousin that lives in Washington and loves it out there. The cost of living can get rather high in some of the larger cities like Seattle, Portland or San Francisco (not particularly fond of bigger cities anyway), but after doing some research I think Boise would be a good starting point. Low cost of living and centrally located in the mountain west.

My advice is, save up some money and go travelling! The world's a big place and there is a lot of beautiful places to see. The only way this can be achieved is if you get out of your element. Meaning doing all the same things you do every weekend or year.

I've been travelling all over the world. I have been to many wonderous places that I'd love to relocate in a heart beat.

Been all over the USA and Canada, both countries do have many wonderful places to visit and see. I know I'd move to Maui or Oahu if I had the money. Always sunny and hot there. Then again I do live on the west coast of British Columbia, Canada. I simply love it here. Have the ocean to the west and the mountains to the north andthe east. It's a beautiful place here.

I have to somewhat disagree SuperFunGuy, sometimes your element can lead you to some great adventures. Mine is backpacking, and it's given me the opportunity to travel to a lot of places.

I live on Maui for 1/2 year, and own several properties there.
It is the healthiest place on earth.
Some people do not know the islands, and are misinformed.
I also have rentals, so, take a chance and visit....u wont want to leave
