Finished Free Fall - he phrased some things in an interesting way that I'll reflect on but, otherwise, not so interesting.

I am just finishing up The Demonologist. This is the only book that I have ever read that has scared me (only reading during the daylight hours)
. And I read a lot.

Re-reading Siddhartha by Herman Hesse. Didn't care for it when required to read it in high school. It reads very differently 35 years later.

finished The Great Divorce

That has to be on of my favorite books. The symbolism is so profound, even from a secular point of view.

In the middle of Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell. Somewhat surreal intertwined stories that I hope come together at the end in a somewhat coherent way. Recently made into a movie starring Tom Hanks. Not a big hit, if I remember correctly. Reading the book makes me think it would be extremely difficult to make it into a movie that anyone could follow.

I have had this book on my shelf for a long time and just started reading it the other day
The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz

my sisters latest novel came out...
they have been printed all over the USA and several other countries.
but she wouldn't even send me a copy..
so..I am not going to bother to buy it or read it. family issues.
So if anyone reads The Scent of Darkness let me know if you liked it. :)

I read The Four Agreements often to keep me sane.

Enjoying Rita Mae Brown right now. Very light murder mysteries with her pets, horses and wild life getting in on the investigations. Some chapters have me laughing out loud.

--A true tale of Hmong refugees escaping certain death in Laos and coming to the USA after the VietNam war

concurrently with<

Tha Shadow Girls by Henning Mankell a novel about contemporary immigrant experiences in Sweden

My favorite genre of literature is science fiction and fantasy. The current book I'm reading is Midnight Blue-Light Special, an InCryptid novel, by Seanan McGuire. It's the first time I've read anything by this author and I'm loving it. Lots of non-humanoids with special powers, dragons, humor and excellent writing where I view the main character as someone I'd like to know.

It's So Easy (and other lies)
by Duff McKagan

I think it's a good to hear somebody way up there blow a hole
in the whole "way up there" mythology, and what it can do to people.

I just started reading a book that I noticed on my friends coffee table.
Its called Angels, Einstein and You. A healers journey.
by Dr. Michael Mamas

It caught my attention because of the angel pic on the cover.

Just finished Everyday Zen by Charlotte Joko Beck - easier to understand than some of the other zen stuff I've read lately.
Also just finished Illuminating the Afterlife by Cyndi Dale - almost stopped reading after the first 100 pages because I hated her style.

Now reading The Gospel According to Jesus Christ by Jose Saramago (winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize for Literature) - because it came highly recommended. Although the person who recommended it and I have very different preferences in reading material, and I'm not a Christian nor believe in Jesus as Christ, so I'm curious to see how the book goes.

Just finished Robert Jordan/Brandon Sandersons A Memory of Light

I've been reading that series since the first book came out about 20 yrs ago. I think B. Sanderson did a fabulous job writing the last few books. I did not, however, care for the ending with Rand just riding off into the sunset. Not sure what other ending would have been more satisfying but that ending seemed ... blah.

I agree Sanderson did about as we'll as he could for Robert Jordan. I feel like Sanderson would have needed 1 more book to wrap everything up the way it should have been. Still a few loose ends that never really got resolved. It was an excellent series though I started in High School and quickly got to the point where I was eagerly awaiting the next book. I remember reading one of them in one night.

That's a good book. If I remember correctly, his pet peeve is adverbs. Their use to be avoided at all costs!
