Is 61 years old the cut-off age? It depends on the person and where they live. A positive profile always helps.
I was previously on POF five years ago and I did see a lot more messages come in from men around my then age of 58. Now, I am back up again and there are fewer messages, but I still get messages every day. BTW - I am 63 years old.

I get more scammer emails now then I did previously (I'm such a helpless, wealthy old lady.... not). And the really young guys... I see more messages from them. They all get deleted.

I'm not getting very many messages anymore, could be that I've been on this site for a couple of years. I seem to get alot of messages from women out of my area. Like 100 miles away.

This reminds me of a story. A 70 year old guy shows up at his country club with a new, hot 25 year old wife. His buddies can't believe it. One finally asked him "What did you do, tell her you were 50?" The guy replies "No, I told her I was 90."

Could be, I know for me my age group 18-26 everyone is trying to be Taylor Swift if you know what I mean ; )
But between 30-50 you should find someone serious
Unless it's a bad generation?

For the most part, I'd say my luck dwindled drastically once I was on the wrong side of 45

If men would date women their own age, we wouldn't need to have cut off ages. I didn't want someone 20 years older when I was in my 20's and still don't want someone 20 years older. Why would I want to fast forward myself by 20 years??? Delusional men online!!!

Not all are. I doubt that I'd be able to keep a woman happy, that's younger than age 50. I admit my limitations, what's so awful about that? Contrary to what you may think, I do consider any woman's opinion before my own in this particular situation.

Yeah, I know, what a novel approach. Being real.

There's no law that says that you must date someone who you are not interested in meeting. Should there be restrictions for height and weight as well? A lot of women feel just as strongly when it comes to a guy being required to be a minimum height, and many people (both genders) are not interested in dating someone who is overweight or obese. It's called preferences, and people can add restrictions to their profile according to age and location, and can specify other preferences in their profile.

maleman999 is right.
For some people the cut off age is 31!! lol. Depending on who you are and what you want and what you actually have to offer.

My friends "of a certain age" who use dating sites aren't that concerned about a man's age as much as whether he tells the true age in his profile. They even get upset about a year or two let alone 6 or 10..

There are all kinds of meet up groups for people under 40 and under 35. Why not over 60? Why not start one? Most people these days over sixty are still in pretty good health and want to live and enjoy life. ANd base don reports, have at least 20 years to go.

^^^
I belong to two Meetup groups for people over 50. One is strictly for singles, the other allows married couples (although most are single). And I belong to another meetup group for over 55.

And, yet another, for over 40.

We have talked about this before. If you live in a large metropolitan area, you have almost unlimited possibilities. On the other hand, if you live 40 miles the other side of BFE, well...

I remember an old joke, the punch line being, “No, it’s not the end of the world, but you can see it from there.” If you do live in BFE, and you're really tired of not getting dates, maybe you should consider moving?

I was listening to NPR the other day, and some academic type was talking about 1/4 to 1/3 of the American population feels that they have been left behind, that they are not needed. He was speaking of jobs, and the workforce, but I can see some similarities to the dating world. This guy was talking about how Americans had always been mobile, willing to move to pursue opportunities. From the pioneer days, westward migration in covered wagons, right up until the 1950’s and 60’s and 70’s, Americans would pull up roots and go to where they could get a better job, have a chance at a better life.

Now? No, not so much. The unemployed coal miners in West Virginia just sit there, instead of pulling up stakes and going to where there are construction jobs waiting to be filled. Maybe some of those complaining here about not having had a date in years of online attempts should take this to heart. I’m sure you really like it where you are, and maybe you hate the big city, but …

I’m just sayin’.

Where I live, immigrants have the constructions jobs so moving here wouldn't be worth it,.

I used to joke back in the days when the Russians weren't our friends, that living out here in BFE would pay off in nuclear holocaust b/c everything else in the world takes 10 years to reach us. I will say, there are people who feel left out for a variety of reasons. Age, or location, or looks, or height...sometimes its a real reason, sometimes it just a cover. Even when we were a mobile society, some made just too much money on their little fiefdom to give it up, but yes for some coal miners, they can find oil rigs in their own state pulling out enough natural gas to, well, undercut coal and its why coal doesn't sell like it used to. Of course, if their kids are doing good in the school system, then it might be up to dad to make the move, as a family I used to work with out here on the Liberal Coast went thru.

Most of us are located where we are, b/c someone in our ancestral tree got up and moved there. some will do what it takes, and others just aren't geared that way.

I thought the "cut off" for men was earning under $100,000 per year.

Well, there certainly isn't a magic formula.
And I don't think it matters if you're widowed or not.
But certainly attitude and profiles play a part.

Just sayin.

But certainly attitude and profiles play a part.

Especially when you come to that line that says- Income.
Another player that carries a lot of weight- Profession.
Minor inclusions that play to the chorus- Degrees, height, weight, travel aspirations.
Interests, like being a hopeless romantic, fine dining, creative writing, being spontaneous.

If you had all of that going for you, then you wouldn't be on display for more than a week.
