maybe this doesn't matter but i'm wondering, why did you have to text to ask her when you can call? i mean if you and her had a personal relationship, why couldn't you just call her anytime you wanted?

Nope; a letter would have taken too much effort in the old days!

A very childish thing to do posting a breakup on facebook, hell a text would have been better than publically humilating someone, be glad you are rid of her, who wants to be associated with someone who can't act like a responsible adult.

Was the reason behind the impending break up had to do with your presence in PoF while still in a relationship with her? "Just sayin'"

I find it quite amusing that not a few days after the break up, he was on here posting, lest he was here all along?

To coin a phrase by Roy Clark......Thank God and Facebook she is gone. To the other posters who say she was a coward. I think it is the easy way for people now. They are in a hurry for the next date and they want to move on as fast as possible. She traded up, to a newer, better model, with maybe less miles. Buy people like her enough gasoline to get out of town with.

DadGUMMIT! Gwen! Now THAT freaking song will be stuck in my head all day!
Actually it was a Korean War conflict...and I know the song well because 2 cousins in the musical branch of the family used to sing it.
At least THAT letter was private...

I have a FB account/page but I cannot even begin to imagine putting personal stuff like love life issues on it. WTH??

There was also a Vietnam era song "Billy and Sue"-in which the recipient leaped to his feet upon reading "Dear John"-into the line of enemy fire, and "they shot him dead"...

OP, I'm not going to pick you, your ex, your relationship or Facebook apart-it sounds like you both acted badly and Facebook simply provided a means to publish the matter.

I got home late laast night expecting to have a make or break phonecall with the then girlfriend only to find it spashed all over facebook how glad she was to be single again.

well, apparently it wasn't a make or break phonecall (apparently you were expecting it from her rather than you expecting to MAKE a make or break phonecall); it was a break status update... :)

at least you were half right... sounds like she assumed you knew already... at least it wasn't text... or LITERAL breakup via facebook. would have been worse if she had done the speech publicly; rather than showing moving on...

(though I will admit it is a tad snarky; but agree with others though it sounds like there is more to the story, maybe?)

I have never understood people who put their "business" all over facebook.

I was recently dumped through a paragraph long text message. No phonecall, no face to face break up... just a text. I felt insulted but then I had to remind myself that this is a period in time where you are quicker to find something out from facebook than someone actually calling to tell you smh.
