Gays have yet to be raped, shot, hung & burned to death. So don't try to make your love for gays any form of struggle that has been experienced by my forefathers you dumb ****.

That's not exactly true. In one city alone (in my country), there was spate of gay bashings and murders a couple of decades ago. I haven't investigated the occurance of these types of homophobic crimes worldwide but I'm willing to bet they haven't been isolated to just one city. I suppose they've not been to the extent of what your forefathers have suffered, but they're no less horrific.

You would think that someone coming from a history of struggle that included slavery, beatings, hangings, rapes and bigotry because they were "different" would be a little more open minded about others that are "different".

[In 2008, 17.6% of hate crimes were based on the victim's perceived sexual orientation. Of those crimes, 72.23% were violent in nature. 4,704 crimes were committed due to racial bias and 1,617 were committed due to sexual orientation. Of these, only one murder and one forcible rape were committed due to racial bias, whereas five murders and six rapes were committed based on sexual orientation.]

[In 2011, the FBI reported 1,572 hate crime victims targeted based on a sexual orientation bias, making up 20.4% of the total hate crimes for that year. Of the total victims, 56.7% were targeted based on anti-male homosexual bias, 29.6% were targeted based on anti-homosexual bias, and 11.1% were targeted based on anti-female homosexual bias.]

This is the US, never mind the rest of the world.......

[Outside the West, many countries, particularly those where the dominant religion is Islam, but also many countries in the Commonwealth (e.g. Uganda, Nigeria, Malaysia and Jamaica), most African (excluding South Africa) and some Asian countries (excluding Japan and Taiwan), and some former-Communist countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, such as Russia and Serbia, are currently very dangerous for LGBT people because of discrimination against homosexuals which influences both discriminatory legislation and physical violence.

As of May 2011, 75 countries criminalize consensual sexual acts between adults of the same sex.[14] They are punishable by death in eight countries:

Iran:[15] Since 1979, the government has executed more than 4,000 people charged with homosexual acts.[16]
Mauritania
Saudi Arabia: Although the maximum punishment for homosexuality is execution, the government tends to use other punishments (fines, prison sentence, and whipping), unless it feels that homosexuals have challenged state authority by engaging in LGBT social movements.[17]
Sudan
Yemen
Parts of Nigeria and Gambia]

[In Nazi Germany, homosexuals were among the groups targeted by the Holocaust (See Persecution of homosexuals in Nazi Germany and the Holocaust). ]

and for the grand finale ..... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrective_rape

Sexual deviancy? You mean like sodomy? That would be oral sex. Heterosexuals do not engage in oral sex? Or anal sex? What kind of sex do you consider appropriate and do you interrogate friends, family, business associates, etc. etc. as to what kind of sex they engage in, as per your approval? Why would you fantasize about anybody else’s sex life?
To be disgusted by it? Or turned on?

You seem capable enough of feeling your own perceived pain. Guess you’re too wrapped up in being self righteous and wounded to imagine anyone else could be wounded too. You think no one’s ever been persecuted in this sh!t world but poor little you? Hypocrite.

Btw, you don’t score points for first saying this:
Actually young man you show your ignorance by calling people morons that disagree with your warped sense of equality.

then saying this:
Only a true moron would equate a sexual deviancy with a race.

Again, hypocrite.

You would think that someone coming from a history of struggle that included slavery, beatings, hangings, rapes and bigotry because they were "different" would be a little more open minded about others that are "different".

Exactly. Thank you for saying that.

And of the percentage of hate crimes involving sexual orientation how many had aggravating factors?
Let's remember that vectors friends beat a gay man because he was making drunken advances towards him.Not that this is an excuse for ganging up or beating an impaired individual.

I knew a nice lady from a meetup group, & after a year found out she was trans.

I still think of her as a female friend. It is not easy to be her. Sometimes people ask me about her & try to know why...my answer, I don't even try to wrap my brain around it, I just accept her as is.

Recently found out a distant cousin is trans & is a prominent person in her field. I think she is a good person, I don't care that she was born one way & is now another way.

I cleaned houses within the gay community of a large city to put myself through college. Never had a problem. I found them to be intelligent, ambitious and tallented people. I do seem to encounter homophobia in the rural setting more so than in urban settings. I taught one class in Newfoundland that really struggled to talk about it. Anyone who is narrow mined so as to have any problem with the gay community is not cool with me.

My favorite gay story comes from the one particular house cleaning job. Tony and Chris shared it. They had a king sized waterbed that was over filled. It really worried me because should it ever develop a leak the damage it would cause to the century old house would be a disaster. One Saturday I was vacuuming the bedroom when Chris walked in (normally I had the place to myself on Saturdays). Anyway I shut the vacuum off to have a conversation:

"So ah Chris. Your waterbed is over filled with water you know."
He looked at me with a grin I'd not seen before and said "Yes I know."
I said "Well if it ever gets a leak it could really do a number on your floor and the ceiling below us."
Again with the grin and a "Yes I know."
"So why do you have so much water in your water bed bag then?" I asked.
"Well" he said "When you get 4 or 5 guys. . . ."
"Ok that's enough" I said a little hastily. " I don't need to know any more."

Appreciate the facts given in msg 305. Gov't perpetrators, Islamic subjugators.. worse than what any citizen can do. Glad it included the Nazi persecution of homosexuals..only later did I remember that.
Discrimination against this group will never be completely stamped out, so party on with your Gay Pride parades folks! Attracting the tourist dollar benefits the economy too.
@ calguy..there's no excuse for beating up unimpaired gays either!!

Sounds like a loving relationship between two people doesn't it?Do you feel the chances of disease go up when you're in bed with four other people?

Then simply ask any woman has she felt a sickening feeling when a man wearing a dress walks into the female bathroom?

*yawn*

It's never going to end, is it? This child of the sixties knows that.

I've shared a restroom a number of times with
a man wearing a dress
. Never had a problem. I use the men's rooms around town when the ladies' is too crowded and other women fall in line behind me once they realize it's common sense and simply another of society's stigmas. Most restrooms in other countries are unisex, aren't they?

I've corresponded with two self-described cross-dressers here, one at length over months. I learned a lot.

"How many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky?
How many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry?"

Meh, feeling a little sappy today. Peace, out.

[Sounds like a loving relationship between two people doesn't it?]
(First time trying the quote thing. Hope I got it right)

The gay men I knew viewed sex as being separate from love. They looked the other way if their partner had sex with others as long as things of the heart were kept between them. Loving relationship? Some had them and others, like Chris and Tony, had a relationship of convenience. Chris was older and was the income earner while Tony more or less prostituted himself to Chris while attending university. They both knew and accepted it would come to an end when Tony graduated.

[Do you feel the chances of disease go up when you're in bed with four other people?]

Sadly this was the case. Aides killed a number of this social group just after I moved on and started delivering pizzas. This was 30 years ago mind you, but I imagine the same social norms exist minus anything that is risky to their health. I did get the distinct impression the group kept to themselves. The two that died got aides from a sexual encounter with someone outside of the group. It was the gossip rage at the time. And you know how gays can play that up! :)

Interestingly, studies are now showing a correlation between homosexuality and mental illness. If you are gay chances are you also have a mental illness. Bipolar is common amoung gays.

Persoanlly I'm betting that in our near future we will be avle to identify and possible correct homosexuality within the womb. The Last Gay - sounds like a good sci-fi book.

The Last Gay.haha, strictly fiction of course.Sadly the availability of effective drugs to combat aids has led to a drop in condom use.The stats say gonorhea has increased. And the young are more at risk.

I won't get into any discussion about "correcting" homosexuality or some real screaming will start.

Please do not compare the homosexual life to slavery or being black or being a woman. They are not comparable. You can't change black to white. See Michael Jackson. You can't change female to male. See DNA. I know people have have chosen to get both in and out of homosexual lives, one on a rotating basis for the past twenty years. Such a comparison only makes political enemies, not political points. I will not argue this point. That is all that I have to say about it.
