That tranquil song known so well to the dead..
The winter is indeed pathless and the only silver held is that of the knife held to my throat..
I can almost see the angels swirling down as the red rushes from my shell..
I'm losing my consciousness and I can hear the echoes in this frozen hall..
Has my god forsaken me...
Has my soul sold me in its stead...
I relive a false crucifixion..
I relive a false assassination..
I relive the door closing..
I lay here dying with my fingers twitching from excessive nerve damage...
My organs twist and turn expelling the last of me..
I take a breath and slit grows as skin tears and i flinch at the thought of this eternal release..
I thought I would be the only thing you needed when you saw those morning standing close to me..
I thought you were the best thing to ever happen to me..
I thought I could hide your body underneath..
I can hear the distant sirens like mermaids asking me to swim like them..
I can't stretch my beheaded lips to kiss you and tell you how sweet you this has all been...

The sky and earth's horizon as clear as water
Crystal clear understanding, now swallowed
In the unknowing vapor of our past, gulping
Our future in huge mouthfuls hoping to satiate
The fear felt such as a prey of a Tiger, who bites
enormous bloody chunks of torn flesh, an animal
moments earlier flying on pure adrenalin now Dead,
And the stealthy beast rests Distended and swollen
in contentment that tomorrow brings another day
to hunt
and prey again...
and sprawls out with its tender underbelly,
The reeds separated by the swinging curved blade

preachers and snake charmers

for how could we play any part
if we could not disguise our heart

each moment a small success
like the natural flow of the breath
watching a rise in the chest
as she lay there close to death

a skeleton still breathing
her eyes were so sunken
her cheek bones quite clear
we all knew her passing was near

yet i held back for a bit
before we had to leave
watching her skeletal body
watching it still able to breath

watching for her heartbeat
knowing she was almost there
praying for her soul to pass
thankful she was such a dear

loved by all who knew her
loved unconditionally
though not my blood mother
she was a mom to me

so when it was time for her to go
i knew she needed to be free
to continue to shine for all time
so loved by her whole family
