The Empty Nest Blues Rant

Today I lazed around the house,sat staring at the wall
Hoping for a Facebook message or a weekly call
Ensuring me that all was well, to keep me in the loop
Empty nest, I'm all alone ,my children flew the coop
Meals for one and not for four, I just heat a can of soup
Pretty quiet now, no arguments, no, "Mom she took my seat"
The end of all that clutter and the smell of stinky feet
"You homesick yet?" I ask my son, he says, "Well, just a smidge"
No one to lug the groceries in, but my beer stays in the fridge
Each night so far no need to yell, " Hey turn it down you two"
So I don't have to watch the Simpsons now, although sometimes I do
Though I'm feeling disconnected in this second half of life
Being there's no one left to mother, no longer someone's wife
Lots of time and freedom now that I've never had before
Unfortunately, unbeknownst to me, I've turned into a bore
Each day is a new shot at living and learning to take a chance
Sure, I could travel, write a book, I could learn to dance
Road trips in the summer, I could camp out in a trailer
And maybe hang out at the docks and pick me up a sailor
Now the world is my oyster, I only need to choose
Though the older I get I mostly crave a glass of wine and a snooze

I broke a jaw today.
Misunderstanding and what not.

Hurried through the formalities, pictures of the stitches I got.
A nice woman cuffed and unstuffed and later asked for what surely must,
venture into unethical flirtations of the carnal exhuast,
in so much that it was pre-destined for short goodbyes and long lazy looks of lust.
Not the first time, so I shot video right after,
giving evidence of my helpful nature post such an unnatural disaster.

Thieving attempt at dissuation of my character.
Righteous idignation 'for the fallout of my harrier.
One stroke and a splash much like quiet Asian poety,
unless I choose not to forget his friend's limited range of mobitilty.
Blessed be and lucky my day,
less more blood hit the sidewalk and a judge who'd need swayed.
Exempt in the eyes of that ginger cutie, who took two on one and never minded the blade.

For could only be seen as some mishappen job,
evidenced biweekly round here given oil field kabobs.
Even tolerance we have 'fend easily we're not,
lest oil pull out and ghost towns cinch cravat
in and over so much as we need to survive...
not to mention fat larders supporters gain to provide.
Give us patience. Sharp tolerance. Commerade.

Snow covers lost things and cold bites the shadow,
ornery boys quick to test the timbers of the gallows
run towards the fire without fear, showing yellow....
rescue lost souls like I once required since mellowed.
Yet today the winter kept me close to myself, and took me back 22 years to the winter I myself accepted help.
