Apparently, sending text messages is the least of your problems.

yes alot of ppl do just this as they can hide behind the safety of a computer.

But you know you have a problem.. so if you want to stop then dont sent that text right away.. sleep on it... then decide if you need to send it.

It is easy for people who don't use text messaging to say just don't because it's impersonal etc etc. Some people communicate quite well via text, email, IM etc. That said.........

As my daughter says, it is a need to edit your send finger. Read it, save it as a draft and if you still want to send it in a couple of hours go ahead. Just remember never send right away.

Gotta ask, cause I'm not big on the texting stuff but, how do you smack someone on the side of the head thru texting???? Could come in handy in the future.

Just type (in caps only) "FO!!!" That seems to work for me.

~OP~ No, it's not a problem for me. I learned a while ago to never text without "sleeping on it" first. If you're having textmunication issues? Turn the silly phone off and leave it off. Problem solved.

I'd suggest that when you feel like sending a mean text message or you're in a bad mood, you refrain from sending anything and engross yourself in a hobby, like elephant painting, to take your mind off the bad mood and relax, before you try texting someone.

Alot of nuances can get lost when sent in a text or message.

Humor, sarcasm, etc especially get lost.

And the immediacy of Text doesn't help when you're in a bad mood.

So your choices are learn to take a breath and self-censor, or this will be a recurring issue.

I am beginning to not like texting. Some men only text and do not understand what they are saying. I just broke up with someone on a text. Just rude!

No, I wouldn't text anything that I wouldn't say in person, although sometimes it's easier to text it. I have had people misunderstand the tone just as happens here some times, but I've never intentionally been snotty just because the person isn't there in person.

Msg 28: I believe It was William Shakespeare that wrote 'The pen is mightier than the sword' .

You mean I got it wrong after all of these years? I thought Billy wrote "The pen is mightier than the porn."

I only use texting for quick messages, I've found that my sense of humour doesn't come across well via text, would much rather talk on the phone or in person to avoid misunderstandings, I've ended potential relationships because all they wanted to do is text and no real communication. It's very easy to have keyboard courage when you don't have to see how your mean words adversely effect others, I'm surprised you have many friends left if thats what you do, I certainly would not put up with someone who acts this way. Take a breath and don't text if you have nothing good to say, learn how to communicate for effectively and if you are mad all the time get some therapy.

What a loser, he broke my heart over texting.

No he was a cheater who broke your heart, I am sure he would have found a way to cheat and contact other woman without texting. Men and women having been lying and cheating since long before there were cell phones.
